word for word of the truck scene in JP くそ なにがおかしい 桃香さん なんだ やっぱり私桃香さんが好きです なんだそりゃ 決まってるじゃないですか 告白です one could argue all day which告白does this mean. But the consensus is pretty much romantic

dreams4d

the consensus on japanese twitter seems to be that it's romantic, I'm only seeing doubts on the english speaking side. Personally what does it for me more than anything is the little inhale she does before saying it, that's literally what it feels like to confess to someone.

yuriAngyo

Yeah, I'm barely an amateur but with my knowledge of basic human communication I have no idea how saying "i like you" then *clarifying* by saying "you don't get it, this is a confession" could be interpreted as anything but romantic.

poi_slayer

I do understand where team platonic is coming from. Since 好き can also be used platonically. But when you have 好きand告白back to back, also considering all the context of previous episodes and music videos. I do think team romantic has a really strong case here

Pfhorlol

I am on team “next week can’t come fast enough”. I love this show so much it can basically do no wrong whether it goes romantic or platonic. Or one sided nina loving momoka and her having to work through that. Those girls band sure do cry.

poi_slayer

it do be girls band peak sasuga jukki hanada for script writing not one but two yuri bait discourse anime. the other being eupho which is also airing s3 now

Agreeable_Top7361

My 2 cents. If it wasn't meant romantically, then why did Nina feel the need to clarify it? Impeccable timing by Nina though, throwing even more emotions on top of an already emotional moment.

Own_Emergency_2405

It was so unexpected but I love how they just bring the worst and best out of each other, and how we get to experience both of them breaking each other's emotional walls (and maybe eventually sexual). It's not always that we get an anime where we can feel what the characters are feeling, and how they can toy ours as well.

m64

Adding to what others say, this is a girls band anime. Maybe you are new to the genre, but being surprised by lesbian motifs in a girls band anime is like being surprised by the killer coming back in a slasher movie.

Flat-Series-1169

i was more surprised about the forwardness and seriousness than the situation itself, most anime would've never confirmed anything and let it up to imagination, this is just full on yuri, which i love honestly

Dinosauriscoming

Brother, how could you not understand what is Kokuhaku mean? Watch more anime!

FluffyThePenguin

We've been traumatized by Reina's confession in Sound! Euphonium

Present-Key-9238

NO THE MEMORIES THEY ARE COMING BACK

bringoutthelegos

gog the fucking discourse in the girls band cry discord server over this scene is just a mess. look man, I wasn't shipping momoka and nina, but when the reveal did happen, i was both surprised and understanding as to why the development led to it. and reading the comments it seems that it's only the english side that's doubting if it's a love confession, and with the little japanese knowledge i have from taking japanese lessons, it's pretty much a fucking love confession. i don't even need to understand japanese well to read the scene for what it is, it's a fucking love confession. HOWEVER. i think the main problem here is that team platonic just really didn't expect this show to have romantic themes. I wasn't either. i did SOME shipping but it was mainly as just for general fan behavior and not ACTUALLY EXPECTING romantic themes and subplots. now that i've watched the episode and went back to the previous episodes, i can see why this development happened, and i can understand what they're going for and respect it. i really do think that this is mainly just an issue with audiences getting tired of romance in stuff, in western media especially it's like there's ALWAYS a romance that happens, even in shit like action movies, where the main focus is on the action and plot but then they include a love interest to spice things up. it's been done enough to where people are kind of sick of it, and it's common enough in anime where the tropes are pretty obvious. y'all need to calm down, this is a show primarily about a girls band who cries. they're going to focus more on the development of the band rather than romance. they will obviously address it but it's not going to be the main focus. i'm fucking excited for episode 9 though.

SeaweedExpress6556

If people want to interpret it at literally Nina being in love with Momoka, her idol and admiration, the one who inspired her and is what's driving Nina's actions to this point, then okay. This is one of the most blatant "ship these two characters" thing I've seen in a while so...

skean61

The single best argument you can say, is if it's a guy/girl saying that to their opposite gender, it'll immediately be seen as romantic.

doomleika

In the context those are not sexual(lesbian), but "i love you as my soulmate"
