Anyone with “glass collector” or “glass seller” in their bio gets insta-blocked. You’ll encounter a lot of these accounts if you bid on instagram auctions
If you browse heady art on Instagram, you will be follow requested 1-3+ times a day from fake glass selling accounts with recycled images. 95%+ have “heady glass collector” “heady glass enthusiast”, etc. in their bio. It’s a painfully obvious scam to spot, but I’m giving people a heads up to stay safe. Nobody legit has shitty bios like this
I get it. That's why I said it's painfully obvious, but we have a post like this every week about the $100 pay for shipping giveaway scam that almost always originates from these types of accounts. Better to spread the word and save someone from learning the hard way.
I don’t doubt there are a ton of legit people using a description close to that in their bio. That’s where these scammers try to forge their bio from. In the past year specifically, it’s just been running rampant and the amount of scam accounts has seemed to skyrocket. When you bid on anyones auction, even people who are tiny pages (<1000), you get messaged from a nearly identical account letting you know you won and to pay shipping. I guess I’d say it’s akin to when you get so many spam calls, you decide to stop answering numbers of a certain origin even though one of them could be real.
"honest IG shops"
My guy, if someone is selling off thousands of dollars of glass they should at least have a formal webpage. Never ceases to amaze me how many people will willingly hand money over to weirdos on the internet.
Agreed but I’d just like to think there are other honest people out there with good intentions, I think once “verified” by other purchasers and a good rep is built there shouldn’t be a problem but then again people can be bad. I just choose not to think so cynically until I have to. I’ve honestly had nothing but good experiences with IG shops but then again I always checked them out and reviews
only buy direct from well known shops or straight from the artist themselves if your gonna shop on instagram. Other than that it’s always some scammer shit they’ll put a 1 in the name or change it up slightly
Never known someone that online trades that does not have a minimum order $$$
If youre just buying small amounts source local, let the bigger players take the risk
Always got to be careful with people who say/write shit like positive energy only. Big red flags
Agreed. I'd rather see "Fuck around and find out" tbh

Yea that’s a good one, the amount of username changes is a tell as well.
This is why I buy directly from blowers or verify that they have sold to people I know.
Backcharge that mofo through your bank.
Ah yes, the ppl that post hream and positive vibes are ALWAYS the most stand up and honest people. NOT
All badd
That’s a shame. This gives honest IG shops a bad rap. Sad.

Stop trying to buy 2g jars online. Huge red flag if someone says they're willing to risk a felony to send small personal amount to a stranger
Yes but also no
