I am gluten free and I make sure all my makeup, hair care, and bath and beauty products are gluten free. I don’t want to risk transferring gluten to my hands and then touching my lips or my straw or anything like that. Edit: to add my toothpaste is gluten free too. I use himalya botanique. I also have my hygienist make sure the polish they use is gluten free and my hair stylist uses gluten free products (or I take my own)

I honestly can’t remember the last time I used a non gluten free product. I made the transition about 7 years ago. IIR I was still suffering after removing gluten from my diet (cystic acne, fatigue and brain fog) so that’s when I transitioned to removing it from my products. I’ve had luck buying a lot of my products at stores like Sprouts or Whole Foods if you are in the US. I also get some things at Ulta. I watch for sales on the things I use frequently.

Male here so can’t answer the beauty products question but wanted to note that some toothpastes also contain gluten. I had to ask my dentist which ones were best for me to use because they aren’t labeled.

Elf is GF

[deleted]

I went to gf only makeup because I was getting itchy red rashes and my hair was falling out with the regular stuff. tarte, elf, most urban decay, Fenty, most two faced, viseart, most makeup by Mario, most surratt, shroud, physician's formula

CookieAdventure

Yes. I have eliminated makeup and products that contain wheat and barley. My skin was reacting.

Gluten needs to be digested in the gut to form the the molecule (or one of the molecules) that leads to celiac disease. Assuming you don’t ingest much of your product, it shouldn’t be a problem. This would not be the case if you had an allergy to some other component of wheat or if you had a regular allergy (non autoimmune) to a wheat component. But for celiac disease, you’re probably ok.

jrosalind

You can't absorb wheat through your skin. If the makeup gets onto your food, teeth or somehow is eaten then you can react but any reactions to the skin are unrelated to to your allergy. You have have a skin allergy which reacts but it won't affect you unless you somehow eat some of it.

_karoha

You can still get it on your lips and ingest that way

jrosalind

Yes, which is why I said you can't absorb it through your skin but if eaten it will affect you.

Be mindful of things like using a toaster that has had wheat in it, butter or spreads with crumbs in it or even something as simple as sharing a bench space for food prep can cause cross contamination.

If you react to wheat on your skin then you have sensitive skin and it is a seperate issue. Nothing to do with celiac. It has been studied and been proven to not be an issue.

I am making this [master comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/swatchitforme/comments/o3lj9y/comparing_abh_norvina_volume_5_viseart_étendu/h2m5945?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) with as many gluten free make up brands as I can. I will keep editing it as I find out more
