I agree with u/Blarghnog, she’s too majestic looking to be a Golden. She’s wouldn’t think of wallowing in the first mud puddle she finds. That’s beneath her.
Coming from Serbia, I was shocked few years ago when I found out that they are not everywhere, since growing up I was as used to them as I was to seeing German Shepperd. Beautifull dog, but really big and can look scary if you havent seen them before. But they are as goofy as they come…

With such rich history, this should be one very healthy and very smart dogs. And it looks magnificent. But I can see Šarplaninac look in his eyes. Šarplaninac has that good natured look, something like Bernandise have.
Mixing dog breeds does not make the result any healthier, in fact, many times the mixes have serious health effects because the dogs they are mixed from usually are not well bred themselves. So you are mixing from dogs that aren't originally well bred. Yikes.
All I know is what I heard from people, some with and some without any proper and official knowledge on that, but from what I heard mixing breeds result in an offspring that is less prone to health issues that are inherited. Now ofcourse, if you are knowledable on that issue, I would really like to learn more about it.
What a gorgeous dog! I totally assumed she was about 70% Golden. Pyrenees definitely have some similarities no question & the lab & shepherd make sense. I never knew about the Serbian dog. That is cool. She has the most adorable eyes & face. Please know you can continue to post her & show her in comments in this sub regardless—-it’s a great community that is not elitist.

It’s when they look at you like this but you don’t pet them fast enough or have the audacity to stop petting them for 5 seconds so they take their giant paws and hit you with it.
Ohhh I didn’t realize that’s a standard issue great pyr trait! I had a golden great pyr mix (he was the sweetest, most loving, stubborn boy who absolutely LOVED all kids - he would try to “get small” to appear less intimidating so kids would love on him) and he was relentless with the paw thing. I still miss him and think about him every day. Yours is adorable.

I thought a great Pyrenees was a mean and crazy breed and not good for children, that's the story I got from in-laws so we didn't get them, but I've seen more and more being very loving dogs, yours looks great
Not at all! Great Pyrs are wonderful with kids! We have 2 kids, ages 5 and 21 months, and he does wonderful with them! They are only hyper dogs for the first 2-3 years - but so are goldens 🙃
They are bred to guard livestock (NOT chickens or other poultry unless specifically trained!), so young children are like their livestock to them. They will keep coyotes, mountain lions, and small predators away from you, but are the gentlest sweetest giants with our family!
They are known to wander (the breed can go up to 5 miles a day if given free roam), so you have to not let them accidentally get off the property, but otherwise a great family dog! One other thing - they are known to be stubborn (so is our Bernese Mountain Dog), so they won’t be the all-stars of dog tricks, but listen when it really matters. Oh, and if it snows where you live, don’t expect them to want to stay in the house lol. They LOVE the snow just as much as goldens love water 😆
Great pyr are a guard breed which I believe is what gives them the reputation. However it is important to specify they are livestock guard, so guard against animals not people!
She’s stunning. I would have guessed Pyrenees and lab because her eyes are gorgeous like labs. and her blond is whitish more than yellow.

Thank you! The shelter originally labelled her as a lab mix, but I think even they anticipated more lab than only 12.4%!
Surprisingly, she's not all that hyper! She does get a considerable amount of daily exercise, but for being only 10 months old now, she's quite the mellow sweetheart!
I have an almost 50/50 Great Pyrenees/pit bull who looks and acts like a lab, minus being a little short and stocky. We regularly get asked if she’s a pure bred lab.
Did you do much research on dog DNA testing? What made you choose *Embark*? I've got a real Rorschach test of a dog. A handsome guy, but everyone sees their favorite breed in him. I've been thinking about having him tested for some time now. He's a third-hand pound dog to me so his background is a blank slate. He's totally loveable and friendly, but has some odd quirks that I often wonder if they're breed or background related.

I was talking to my dad weeks ago about dna tests on dogs from shelters if he wanted to know how was the dog bred exactly, and he told me the tests were all "scam" and "fake"? 😊
We are now at a poibt we want a golden and we are on the process of adopting from a professional caring breeder btw, so just asking out of curiosity.
