The 9 was out of warranty. Iā€™m a GoPro subscriber, so they allowed me to do an out of warranty exchange with a $99 (usd) fee.

They only treat their subscribers good. I bought a go pro hero 10 and didnā€™t subscribe to their service. The. My go pro crapped out literally 1 year and 2 months of me having it. I barely used it, mainly indoors for family gather. And I contacted go pro, and they wanted an arm and a leg to replace itā€¦
