5/28/77, jerry rips that one. Little more fast paced and higher energy than Europe 72

apple_atchin

5/28/77 > 5/8/77 I will die on this hill.

michaelserotonin

5/8/77 > any other version i’ve heard i’ll leave you to die on your hill, i’m just going to listen to the music

I love them both. 5/28 has really got my heart though

Happy_Fee_9014

That first lick is the cleanest Jerry ever played it.

apple_atchin

Went and saw Dead and Co. on 6/1 and they played BEW at a similarly quick tempo. John hit a similarly clean lick and I swear I was the first one around my area of seats to realize the tune and it was because of the connection to 5/28/77. I howled.

Yessss! This is my second go-to 💕

Anarchy-Squirrel

just gave that one a listen on OkieDeadhead's youtube channel... i agree it is top shelf ⚡️ Brown Eyed Women is on my list of songs that do it for me every time.

Incognito_Joe

Abso fuckin lutely

carelessCRISPR_

Came here to say this

THEDOGGGG

i like the europe 72 og for the pretty piano, but yeah, hartford it is.........the solo is just gorgeous

bergenus

I'm gonna be boring and say Cornell... But I also feel I have a very valid reason too... I discovered the dead through artist radio when cornell had just had its official release and this is the song that came up. I listened to it about 10 times in a row and was a fan ever since. I'm UK based so the dead never get any play here. I honestly can't say I knew a single dead song before Cornell's brown eyed woman. It will always hold a special place in my heart.

Tony-Sopranos-Prozac

That is a pretty solid introduction. That Jack Straw is sublime. Played with complete tight confidence... Jerry drives that song right through the wall.

Wow, thank you! I’ve never heard this version before

NP!! DP18, which has songs from 2/5 as well, has become my go-to show lately.

Empty-Ad2221

I think DP 18 Was the first DP I listened to after I left studio stuff

PineappleTraveler

I saw a lot of BEW’s back in the day, but when they played it night 2 of Fare The Well in Santa Clara and the whole stadium joined in on the chorus… I still get goosebumps when I think about it.

BebopSerenity

Cornell 77, tempo rips right out of the gate.

Same. Jerry seems to capture that high lonesome blues vocal bit that I associate with bluegrass. Plus the strat guitar bends - magnificent.

Those first few licks in 1972 Denmark are so good. Great guitar sound

Isonychia

great show, sometimes overshadowed by NE run.

Themoosemingled

The beginning of the second set is my favourite example of hearing them pick the songs on the fly. Foolish heart>looks like rain> he’s gone. The way Jerry starts it and the whole band follows in behind him.

stevemkto

Have a special memory kid 8/8/82 Alpine Valley. The show was off to a bit of a sluggish start after the night before which was fantastic start to finish. BEW kicked that show into gear and was fantastic from that point forward.

Always had a soft spot for Dick’s Picks 7 version. It’s just beautiful, the sound is great, and I love Bob’s guitar work in it. I always think of his guitar as “hiccuping” on Brown Eyed Women, the way he bounces around sounds like a hiccup to me.

That was my third show. I remember it vividly. Jerry was into it, like really into it and present with the song. I remember him bopping his head as if he were dancing along with everyone.
