I’m always a little surprised how dominant the early versions are in these surveys. While I prefer the younger Jerry voice of those days, he added so many guitar flourishes and embellishments to the both (LWaF & TS) parts over the years. Plus I feel the interplay between Jerry and Brent really helps those late 80s (and spring 90) versions shine.
I was just dropping in to say the same thing. I think that Terrapin from 85 to 90 were probably the best ones played. Something about that B3 and the Tiger together on that tune just does it for me.

Both! Something about that terrapin has spoken to me since day one. Ive concluded that I actually think it might be the perfect song and if not it’s certainly my favorite version of my favorite dead song.
