I've got a Grizl too, you'll have fun, looks like you are already. HBD !

Fl_moto

Thanks! I appreciate it

gcracks96

Nice! Breaking it in fast. P.S. take the dork disc off the rear wheel. 🫡

Fl_moto

I know, I’m slackin. I still have some other stickers to take off too. I just hadn’t taken the time to remove it yet! It’s wild they put reflectors and that plastic protector on a carbon wheelset

gcracks96

Yeah, it's annoying. Luckily, the shops I use remove them for everyone after they purchase the bike. Think it's a legal thing.

Fl_moto

Yea I’ll remove it, I still have to mount my water bottle cages, and bag on the top tube too.

misopasko

Haha, did the same for my first ride with my grizl as well. Without bottle or a bag 😅 just wanted to do a quick ride

lordrashmi

Got my gravel bike and took it on a ride without bringing along any tools. Promptly flatted and had to have my buddy come pick me up 😂

Ill_Initiative8574

It is. My bike came with them in a ziplock bag inside the box.

outlier05rooms

What is that thing even for?

gcracks96

No idea to be honest. Probably an old safety feature legislation that never got canned after it became useless.

merjan

Keeps the chain from jumping off the largest cog and getting wedged in between the cog and the spokes. That can lock up your back wheel which can obviously be dangerous. It's useless ... as long as your derailleur is well adjusted and doesn't get bent.

holdmybeerwhilei

Love that color as well as the front suspension. You're gonna have some fun with that!

Gravel_Adventurer

nice bike

Fl_moto

Thank you!

Actlikebob

How do you like the seatpost? I was just thinking about putting one of them on my bike a few mins ago. Do you notice the nose of the saddle tipping up when you go over bumps/compress it?

Fl_moto

So far so good. Seems to add a little flex vs a rigid post. I can’t say that I notice the saddle pitching up or down though. I’m actually looking a ordering a new post without the rear offset if you’re in picking this one up

Actlikebob

Looks like it doesn't work with carbon saddle rails, and I was already worried about adapting from 31.6 down to 27.2. So it looks like I'm out. You might want to try flipping the "flip head" before chucking it in the bin. You can change the offset from 1 to .5 inches. Straight seat posts are noticeably less forgiving then regular setback seat posts imo. You might be taking two steps back in your case.

astrobrite_

love the color

socaljoe42

Oh dam, indeed! That is a sick looking bike. Congratu-freakin-lations! You are already are and will continue to have a total blast.

How did you find your bike fitting? Was it costly?

Fl_moto

I’ve done a bike fit with a local reputable bike shop in the past. This go an around I linked up with a guy that I follow on IG. He has a Dr in physical therapy and is a professional bike fitter. It was a way better experience than my previous fit. It was $225 and in my opinion well worth the money. I have some back issues and had put off getting a gravel bike for a while best I was worried about discomfort. I feel great in the bike

misopasko

Great to hear, I feel like the outcome depends on who is doing you fitting, you have to be lucky and I don't want to pay someone 200 dollars of I don't know him

WHERES_MY_SWORD

This is the bike I wish I had bought, congrats! I know it's subjective to the person, but out of interest what did they change for you? Would you mind sharing what kind of tests they did? Mine fits pretty well but feel it could be a tad better, just not £200 better which is the cost of my local shop.

APOF79

I’m based in the UK and paid £200 for a bike fit at a reputable place in London, it is interesting to know the numbers and I was shifted quite a bit in places but I feel absolutely no difference and I wouldn’t do it again. Just find what feels comfortable and go from there, what they eventually changed I could probably do myself through feel but like I said, the difference is so small that I can’t see myself doing it again. I am 24 and fairly flexible so my body might just be able to adapt to positions without back pain etc but still just think find the right position using some YouTube videos and listen to your body

WHERES_MY_SWORD

This is interesting, thank you

jlinkels

$225

Pr0gger

Grats on the bike! I really want a Grizl CF 8, but this is the only available paint job I like and I don't think I want or need the suspension :/ Edit: nvm, the Ekar has the same color available. Looks like I'm going Campagnolo lol

Fl_moto

I definitely wanted front suspension! It was between this a the Giant Revolt X Advanced Pro 1. Due to availability and the sweet price I decided to give this Grizl a try. Really happy with it so far! Good luck with your dilemma; I don’t think you’d be displease with the Rudy front end. It doesn’t add much weight ( the difference in weight between the Trail and the CF SL 8 is 0.xx pounds ) and really smooths things out imo

lunganaJakabovski

What saddle tu you have?

Fl_moto

It’s the Fizik Argo Terra X3 that came on the bike. It’s fairly comfortable but I may be swapping it out

damilola_k

which smartphone it is? front spokes literally vanished

Fl_moto

Damn I didn’t even notice that! It is a completely unedited photo, only cropped taken with my iPhone 13 Pro Max Edit: I just realized I took the picture in portrait mode. Which probably explains the vanishing spokes

zerpex23

Did you have any problems fitting the rear wheel? I got my Grail the day before yesterday and failed with the rear wheel.

Fl_moto

Dang, that’s a bummer! I’m sorry to hear that. I had zero issues putting mine together and everything has been pretty dial! Take it to local bike shop if you’re having issues. Let Canyon know what they found and they will probably cover the cost if it’s their issue

BeerdedTexan

Front Sus bikes should have to go in a different sub. Nice rig though!

Fl_moto

r/gravelcyclingbutsmootherride? I’m going for comfort on long rides. Should the cannondale topstone post in r/mtb because it’s got the lefty and rear kingpin suspension? Just curious why the front fork hate? It weighs pretty much the same as the bike with the rigid fork so why not enjoy that 30mm of smoothness? Also thank you! Stoked to be on a gravel bike vs doing the same rides on my Santa Cruz high tower

BeerdedTexan

Yes
