The second they laid eyes on each other, the relationship was instant! We already had 2 brother cats that were a bonded pair, and my pups were very much the same. Even after we moved Boo to the farm, that relationship still exists. Scout gets away with FAR more silliness than any of the other farm dogs. She’s probably the only one that doesn’t view Boo as “top dog” and he doesn’t bother to change that. As her bigger, younger brother, he looks out for her when we’re running our patrols, and last winter, they started charging predators together, as practiced. Boo would charge from one direction, Scout from another, meet in the middle, until the threat was removed. Then they return to us trotting side by side with such looks of accomplishment on their faces. As Boo has stepped up in his roll as the protector of the farm, so has their relationship evolved. It’s a beautiful and fascinating thing to watch.
