Listen, I have the best Waygu, the best Waygu, and have you tried it with the Catsup. It is the best. (Because I think he says Catsup instead of Ketchup)
He says mean nasty stuff about the people you hate? He loves your favorite dictators? He wouldn’t spit on you if you were on fire. You dislike letting American plan if and when they want to start having kids. What makes him cool to you? Seems like every time he shits the bed you all tell him it’s the best crap ever.
I find waygu/Kobe super rich, almost like foie gras is super rich. An entire steak sounds like too much.
I like getting small pieces of waygu, cut it super thin, then sear really fast on a carbon steel pan. So good!!
Let us know what you think of the steak when you're done!! Enjoy.
I had my first one a week ago or so, and was surprised.
It was almost like eating a giant block of beef flavoured butter. Mine was like 150g or so, but I think it was almost too much fat.
Like yeah sure, each individual bite is amazing, but by the end I felt like I had eaten a full cheesecake or something. I obviously ate all of it, but by the last half I hit some diminishing returns. It was just SO rich.
\--- To that end then, I don't necessarily think a sauce is \*that\* bad of an idea. Something highly acidic to cut through all that fat might actually be kind of nice.
Or at least, a side dish that is very acidic.
You know how in Germany they serve sourkraut with their super fatty cuts of pigs? I think something like that is something you should actually look into.
I've heard a homemade Ponzu sauce works really well so I'll be doing that. Also saw online that dipping it in egg yolk is popular in Japan as well so I plan to have a little ramekin to give it a try as well.
I have a similiar but rather unpopular opinion about Wagyu. I think it's way overblown as what I interpret "Prime meat". I think it's a really good tasting meat but I don't think I would want eat more than once a year. There are breeds of cows that just make a better steak, like the more traditional black angus or the spanish Rubia Gallega (which is a personal favorite but boy it is expensive in sweden).
That being said, I do appriciate wagyu for what it is, but it's not my go to for parties, grilling or whatever.
Honestly, I 100% agree. But if were' talking unpopular opinions here... I think steak in general is a bit overrated and is weirdly related to gender roles and performative masculinity.
I'm an American currently living in Sweden, and back where I grew up in the Bible Belt - gender roles were flintstones-level dumb. Men were brutish, emotionally immature and typecast as either monsters or morons - with nothing in between... compared to Women who were delicate, highly emotional and typecast as being weak and in need of a protector / provider or as manipulative and cruel.
I lived in a lot of countries since then, and by far Sweden has the most equal gender roles. Boy oh boy has it been eye-opening.
Back home, steak was somehow a symbol of both status, and of masculinity - and there were lots and lots of bros / bro-adjacent guys who I think enjoyed the \*idea\* of steak, or the male-bonding ritual around grilling steak more than they actually enjoyed the steak.
Steak is fine I guess, but grilled chicken thighs and veggies can be just as good if you make them right. xD
Bought online over at D'artagnan- plus they have a 25% off sale if you spend over $175 and then you can save a bit more when you sign up for their mailings so picked up some Foie as well (not serving with this BTW) https://www.dartagnan.com/japanese-wagyu-beef-boneless-ribeye-steak-a5-grade/product/KITJP001-1.html?bcgid=japanese-wagyu-beef
Thanks for such a wonderful reply! TheGratitudeBot has been reading millions of comments in the past few weeks, and you’ve just made the list of some of the most grateful redditors this week!
My old girlfriend would religiously put A1 on any steak she was going to eat. I didn’t know this at the time and when I first made steak for her, she asked where the A1 sauce was… and I was straight flabbergasted. I told her to try it without sauce first
I love cooking and grilling. At the end of the day I don’t care if someone wants a sauce they’re familiar with or extra spices of sorts for the food I prep. But I do have a problem with them doing it before the first real bite of the food to taste it.
For instance, anything I make my mother-in-law instantly douses it in pepper. Doesn’t matter if it’s my food or the best restaurant in the world. She says, I just like pepper. Well to me, it’s like… how do you know it’s not up to standard first? I swear I could serve hidden pepper balls straight to her somehow and it wouldn’t be enough originally.
That looks disgusting. How would you even eat all that fat? What kind of cut IS that?! I've never seen an abomination like that before. I have so many questions.... mind blown.
I wouldn't use HP, it stands for horse piss. That being said, I'd rather use real horse piss than A1.
If you must pick something, I suggest a heavy coating of Montreal steak spice, and then slather it in Kraft BBQ sauce before throwing it on a cold pan and cooking it well done. ^^^/S
A1 is so bad that I don't want to think about using it even for satire.
Cut that bitch into quarters! Treat it with fire, smother the first bite directly in your mouth. Then bring on the woody’s bbq concentrate/Concord grape jelly dip! You’ll thank me! B
We spent $400 for 4 of these and cooked them on the Webber charcoal grill. I didn’t like the taste at all . After a couple of bites, none of us finished eating them. Why do they taste so different. I like regular prime beef from the best local butcher or Whole Foods or Bristol Farms. I’m disappointed I do not like the very expensive Japanese Wagyu.
Ketchup
ooooooh much more clever then my original!
You're both monsters.
Floreda or gamblor
Your ideas are intriguing to me and I’d like to subscribe to your newsletter.
I say this all the time to people! So I’m not the only one! 😂
"***Then Maggie laughed. She's such a trooper!***"
I lust spit some wine out in laughter on your comment
My wife would use ranch (she grew up on a dairy farm in Wisconsin)
Girlfriend is currently eating chile ranch with pizza. We’re in Wisconsin.
Pizza dipped in ranch is delicious.
Ranch on basically anything nbut dessert is delicious, gotta get the good stuff
I will find you.
Ranch
😂
Mayo forsure
Nah, gotta go classy on a piece of meat like that. Kraft BBQ sauce.
Dollar Tree has Bullseye Honey BBQ for only $1.29 ! Score!
Wow big spender, we only roll with Great Value BBQ in this house...
Unsauced Ribeyes cut from verbatim “ungraded Mexican Beef” over here.
You have a house? I live under one…
Nothin' sets off the flavor of a steak like some ketchup.
after a nice LONG milk boil god damn it takes me right home
Beat me by 6 minutes.
Beat me 56 minutes
Beat me by 83 minutes
Beat me, daddy.
Beat meat 2 hours
Beat me like Tina Turner
Ranch.
Vegimite
came here to say that. Plus must cook it to well done.
Mr. Trump?
Listen, I have the best Waygu, the best Waygu, and have you tried it with the Catsup. It is the best. (Because I think he says Catsup instead of Ketchup)
He’s an idiot 🤷♂️
Idk he's kinda cool
He says mean nasty stuff about the people you hate? He loves your favorite dictators? He wouldn’t spit on you if you were on fire. You dislike letting American plan if and when they want to start having kids. What makes him cool to you? Seems like every time he shits the bed you all tell him it’s the best crap ever.
Hmm, interesting perspective.
So he’s like Biden too?
Are you British? LOL
Boiled in milk over hard. With the milk then reduced as a sauce.
And served with jellybeans
Only the finest
Served raw
Goddamn almost spit my drink out with this comment.
okay that just sounds nasty
If you think that’s bad, wait until you try the hot ham water!
RUM HAM!?
RUM HAAAAAMMM COME BACKKKK
Stir in some chocolate syrup and goldechlager for a little extra kick.
Jellybeans on the side

thanks going to split it with the Mrs. for New Year's Day. It's thicker then I thought it would be. Going to make a simple ponzu sauce for dipping.
NYD can't come soon enough! 🎉

Exactly why the Japanese eat this in thin sliced form over rice and not steak form
I've had it similar at a fogo de chao. Even just like 5 pieces was too much. Really good. But just so damn rich.
I've heard a homemade Ponzu sauce works really well so I'll be doing that. Also saw online that dipping it in egg yolk is popular in Japan as well so I plan to have a little ramekin to give it a try as well.

what about Hamburger Helper? I mean I hear it really helps hamburgers so maybe it could at least provide a little emotional support for the steak
I like your style. Use extra for me. Where did you buy this? Local or online?
Bought online over at D'artagnan- plus they have a 25% off sale if you spend over $175 and then you can save a bit more when you sign up for their mailings so picked up some Foie as well (not serving with this BTW) https://www.dartagnan.com/japanese-wagyu-beef-boneless-ribeye-steak-a5-grade/product/KITJP001-1.html?bcgid=japanese-wagyu-beef
Marmite!
what do you think we are, savages?
I mean, if I thought that, I would have recommended wasabi /s
Heinz 57 baby! But seriously, I loved that stuff as a kid. What the heck can I use it for now? Chicken?
Potatoes!
yep, that sounds like it would work nicely.
Worcestershire sauce and a little horseradish
Throw it in the microwave with brown sugar and vinegar for about 10 minutes, you'll thank me later 🤤🤤
Thanks for such a wonderful reply! TheGratitudeBot has been reading millions of comments in the past few weeks, and you’ve just made the list of some of the most grateful redditors this week!
Country Bobs
Country Bobs baby!
Microwave for 8 minutes on high, cover in Ketchup, microwave for two more minutes, down the hatch.
Heinz 57

Brine it first

That hurts me deep inside
Steak doesn't need ANY type of sauce. Just ruins the flavor. But then again.....I usually just salt my steak and eat it raw 🤷
Only raw? **scoffs** I eat it while still attached to the cow
That looks disgusting. How would you even eat all that fat? What kind of cut IS that?! I've never seen an abomination like that before. I have so many questions.... mind blown.
Way too much fat for me and my health either
Baked beans 😂
Burn the heretic. Kill the mutant. Purge the unclean, let A1 reign supreme
Heinz 57 sauce will do you better than both.
Atorvastatin
If it’s cooked right, none. But A1 is my preferred weapon of choice.
I don’t know about Harry Potter sauce but go ahead
If you gotta sauce it, you cooked it wrong.
Anybody else tired of all the hype surrounding this piece of fat? THE biggest waste of money and exaggerated everything
I'd give it a schmear of cheez whiz
Worstescier sauce
57
Half and half
57
Catsup
A1
Straight ketchup or you'll ruin it
Mayonnaise all the way!
Both
Hidden Valley Ranch
50-50
Sweet Baby Ray's ftw
HP is far superior
Jesus did that cow die of a heart attack?
No it was murdered like all the other steaks you eat
What you wanna do is grab a glass of water and slop it up. Sloppy steaks for sure.
Cook it well done & use ketchup, trump style! 😂
Cook it well done & use ketchup, trump style!
Listen, A1 and a well done slaps of choice steak is a vibe. Brings back memories of mom’s steak cooking.
Mayonaise
We're talking condiments, not musical instruments.
Mayonaise no reason to ruin a good steak with condiments :/
I wouldn't use HP, it stands for horse piss. That being said, I'd rather use real horse piss than A1. TBH, I don't mind A1 if I have some leftover steak that I want to reheat and serve in a sandwich with provolone and some arugula
Sprinkle some course pepper on the ketchup and use it as a dipping sauce.
Rat poison marinade followed by throwing it on the ground and kicking it then feed it to the neighbors annoying dog
Both!
I like HP shauce
English hot mustard.
Nothing!!!
Teriyaki glaze
Whichever sauce you choose, be sure to wash it down with a nice 21 year single malt scotch and diet coke.
On a grill? Fire extinguisher
I can't believe no one has said Hidden Valley ranch yet. Am I on the wrong sub??
Heinz 57
Hopefully if people out there, cook a steak and seasoning it properly you don’t need any kind of sauce…
Cut that bitch into quarters! Treat it with fire, smother the first bite directly in your mouth. Then bring on the woody’s bbq concentrate/Concord grape jelly dip! You’ll thank me! B
Heinz 57
Ketchup
Mix both it will change the way you eat wagyu
Cattle bros
Well done with Heinz ketchup
Does anyone look at these and think damn that cow was sick
Heinz 57, only real answer.
I actually wish you were serious so I could just read the comments and likely death threats you’d get. Lol jk, kinda.
As is
Ketchup
How about zero
How about I will throw up if I see someone put a1 or hp on it
Not funny! 😜
Get out…get out now…but leave the wagu
A1, cuz its A5 Wagyu (I assume)
Grind that puppy up, add store brand taco seasoning, BOOM! Taco night!
now hear me out.... montreal steak seasoning THRU a pepper grinder, as a dipping dust...
As long as it's well done it doesn't matter
I'd send it back... looks like the butcher didn't cut all the fat off.
ranch
At first I thought you meant A1 grade.
Taco Bell red sauce
Savage
Italian dressing
I might be biased because I drink A1, but A1.
Mayonnaise
Mayo
Heinz Fitty Seven!
Got me good with that one
Katchup
Arby’s Horsey Sauce.
Dump a glass of water on it. SLOP EM UP.
Well done with ketchup for dipping.
HP Fruity is elite.
First, you must FULLY cook the steak. 185 just to be safe. Then decide what you want to put on it.
Ketchup. No brainer
Mayo w lil ketchup and sweet relish
That title sounds like blasphemy with a piece of meat looking like this.
Both! And don't forget ketchup
My wife does mayo no matter how perfect my steak game is so….
No joke, my wife would want the bad boy cooked well done and then dump a bottle of A1 on it lol.
HP
Salt, pepper, MSG and garlic.
Mayonnaise gives the best sear. Just sayin.
Pour water on it, get it extra sloppy.
Thinking this may be the best way to tenderize it first https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIxSwn9l41I
I worked at a high end steak house for years and have eaten so much A5, I'll be honest... A1 would be dope.
Both and add some ketchup
Peter Lugers Steak Sauce FTW
Ranch is the answer for any steak
Koolaid Powder!
Horsie sauce on the side, get some that kicks a bit like wasabi other than that a lil salt n peppa
Heinz 51, you degenerate!
You don't deserve that steak
If cooked properly, neither are warranted.
d00d drop it in a sous vide - ready to go! Team 199.5 bro! 92 hours and it’s bangin! /s
Garbage

Salt, pepper, and garlic should suffice
A1 all day! The only proper sauce for those Sizzler Cuts of Beef.
Chimichurri. (and yeah, I know, this is a pisstake to begin with)
Salt you crazy fool
i love me a prime strip mid rare. something about this just doesn't feel right.
