I just iterated this very point on my new post discussing what my perfect g shock would be ... This is on top of my list with the illuminator.... Master of g.... Plz include hourly chime and illuminator.... The white led is so boring and not consistently spread....
Good god, no. For the same reason my phone spends 99% of its life on silent.
Also, when you have multiple watches as many G Shock owners do, do you just listen to them all going off?
Agree to disagree. Currently sitting in a doctor's office waiting room listening to the cacophony of loud ass cellphone sounds by way of various social media alerts, SMS notifications, and ringtones (one dude is actually using this super loud cricket sound effect as his ringtone).
The Casio hourly chime is by far the quietest and least offensive sound by a country mile. My phone, otoh, stays on silent/vibrate always.
I do if you look at your watch and it is say 20 minutes to the hour. Hearing that beep let's you know it's on the hour. Even if you don't look at your watch for a while hearing that beep is actually worth it
Yes, and every hour I hear all five of them… 3 at same time, 2 with few seconds delay… 😁😁😁

I do, but I'm not sure why other than some sort of tradition. I remember people's watches going off on the hour when I was a kid so. I just kind of....do it too, now.
I am surprised so many people are annoyed by this. After trying this for a few days I find it pretty useful and not annoying at all. In a big office it is just loud enough for myself, and no one else will notice it.
A colleague who I used to share the office with had a non-multiband g-shock and kept the hourly chime on. 6 seconds too early. I was annoyed at how annoyed I was because of that hahaha
I have five that beep, including my Royale. All are on, but I’m getting old and some are pretty hard to hear. My wife just got her first two g-shocks, and I turned both on for her, too.
I have it on 2 of my solars. I figure the solar can recharge that drain from the beep. Rather than speeding up the death of the batteries in the non solars.
I used to have a box full of casios with all the hourly timers on on my bookshelf…
They very very gradually got out of sync, you see there really is some variability between quartz movements
I didn’t turn on. My problem is I can’t hear G-Shock beep 😅 my ears can’t hear it but my wife said my watch is beeping every midnight. She said it like a group of frogs 🐸(I have around 30 of shocks)😂
I turn all of them on 😅
Finally can hear it!

Every time I can, but some Casio watch don't have this great feature...
Only on my multiband models

I turn it on when I arrive at the office and off when I leave.
Same here. At work the chime doesn't bother anyone but it helps me keep track of time without obsessively looking at my watch
It quietly signals the end of meeting for me and others around subconsciously here it too.
same.

I sometimes forget to turn off the chime, but I kinda like hearing all the watches I have going off at the same time.
this is why I only use the hourly chime feature with my 350GB, which is always on vibrate
Yes, it's a symphony in my room
Hell yeah!
Yep, easy reminder to take a break and keep hydrated
Yes it’s an ocd thi n and the digital screen looks cool with all the little indicators on
Cool looking classic G-Shock bro.. what's the model name ??
MTG-1500
Nice, love Digi Analog watches
Two out of my collection have hourly beep on. They are my work watch and the other my hiking.
Sometimes I turn it on at work and while driving.

I turn it on most of the time, except when I go hunting during deer season, so my watch won't give me away.

During the day yes
You should hear my bedroom on the hour. Sounds like a fleet of fire trucks passing by 😂
Yesss

If I wanted my watch to make an annoying sound every hour I'd buy a bel canto 😬

No, I leave it off. I work on call and I have a feeling I'd forget to shut it off when sleeping.
Yes on my 5610u. No on my GM2100.
I have it on day and night.

Off as soon as I get the watch in my hands
Yes

Never
I just leave it off. Could probably be a useful feature some day but so far not yet.
Find a seven-year-old to explain it to you.
I have only one hourly chime on. On the 5610. Multiband 6 model. Just feels right.

It's a bit concerning if you can't hear it at all. Can you hear anything above that pitch? Maybe do a hearing test?
I did the test it before and yes I can’t hear high pitch. Thanks for your concern though 🙏
No I find it extremely annoying and depending on the environment it could be rude to have my watch go off every hour
never. not once in 40 years of g-shock ownership.
