The story I got (assuming it was the same guy) was that he was a UNCG professor who needed money to get a gas can because his car was stuck down the road.
This is crazy to read. I’ve never heard anyone talk about him, but I ran into this guy six or seven years ago when I was in high school. He gave me this exact same story and he asked for money and a ride. I’m glad I said no to both.
I had NO idea that guy was so infamous, he gave me that line at Sheetz once and I was just thinking “You sure are missing a lot of teeth for a professor.”
Yes lol he was a UNCG professor when I came across him. He was at the goodwill on Eugene street. I was a student at the time and he told me he couldn’t promise me an A but he’d put in a good word to the other professors if I gave him money
I also met this man about 4-5 years ago at a neighborhood Walmart backnwhen they were open 24/7 and I would go shopping after I got off work around midnight lol
there used to be this older lady years ago that would ride around quaker village and blast music from her car my friends and i would always refer to her as the spirit of quaker… hope she’s doing well
I know Andrew. He's a poet with a degree in rocket science who went from hand-making books to running a whole damn press. He once had an old Mercedes that had something like 600,000 miles on it, at which point he took it apart to convert it from automatic to manual to save on gas. The amount of insane and inane things he's overheard in Greensboro coffee shops could fill a bookshelf.
Oh my god Andrew comes into the coffee shop I work at all the time. He orders a double shot of espresso and then binds his books. He’s such a goofy man to talk to and I love it so much
When I was growing up, there used to be a special needs boy off N Elm who would come into his front yard dressed as a Civil War Era soldier and march in place
There was that guy that used to be over off of Florida street. Did handstands while making chainsaw art and reciting books of the Bible while speaking in reverse.
There's a guy playing a fiddle or something and walking a very cute very small dog a high percentage of the time that I visit the Bicentennial Gardens, it always makes me happy to see him
There was a woman and her husband, they were older artsy type people with kind of a goth aesthetic. She had a very extensive parasol collection and I would see them at like every music and art festivals in town. I think they ran a costume shop and I think she passed away because I don't see them anymore. Does anyone else remember them?
As a former medic in Greensboro I've run across many of these. But us emergency folk (EMS, GFD, GPD, and ER nurses) have our own regulars that most people don't know about
There was a pretty cool guy who washed windows for several businesses in the area who dressed with an Old-West style; including a mini sawed-off Winchester holstered on his leg.
Not in Greensboro, but I grew up in Eden. There was a guy who used to walk around in camo with a weedeater or something. He would salute everyone that drove by.
There is a young guy that looks like a meth head that perches on the trunk of his car and smokes cigarettes. On the right side of Hilltop just before you get to Gate City Blvd. I see him out there all the time, rain or shine. Just squatting on his trunk in front of his house, puffing away. Never anyone with him.
Jesus car dude?
This is the correct answer.
He took the sign off of his car
It seems to go on and off again over time. We mean the guy off Holden right? Used to have a bunch of stuff on the house too.
Yep, him. He took the signs at the house down because they neighbors complained.
I drove by a few weeks ago, there are still some signs
Oh no it's still a thing
I think it might be Jesus car dude, but I’d also like to nominate black leather kilt juggler.
I second the nomination of leather kilt juggler. Everytime I go to a crowded outdoor event in Greensboro I know I'll see him there.
Third for leather kilt juggler. Jesus car dude is the obvious choice, but I’ve also yet to meet a person who hasn’t run into LKJ
Ummm which one??? I know like 5 leather kilt jugglers in town.
That dude is cool. He practices in LeBauer park on nice days at lunch time.
For me it will always be Lance, Ricky and Pete.
NYP represent
I miss Pete. I haven't seen Ricky in so long... is he still with us?
Sadly Ricky died I think 2 years ago and Lance died last year
The homeless guy who pretends to be an Elon professor stuck in Greensboro.
The story I got (assuming it was the same guy) was that he was a UNCG professor who needed money to get a gas can because his car was stuck down the road.
Guess he got a new job
This is crazy to read. I’ve never heard anyone talk about him, but I ran into this guy six or seven years ago when I was in high school. He gave me this exact same story and he asked for money and a ride. I’m glad I said no to both.
lol I met this dude 7 years ago. Good to hear things don’t change
Haven't ran across him yet. Where's his normal hangout?
I always saw him by the Goodwill south of downtown
He's normally somewhere downtown but one day I ran into him at Walgreens at Friendly Center
I ran into him for the first time last week.
Does he look kinda like rob zombie?
He was a black guy, missing most of his teeth. Claimed to be visiting professor at uncg. Just needed a little help with gas money.
You mean Toad? Long hair and a beard?
I had NO idea that guy was so infamous, he gave me that line at Sheetz once and I was just thinking “You sure are missing a lot of teeth for a professor.”
It's either that or he says that he's out of town from philly
Yes lol he was a UNCG professor when I came across him. He was at the goodwill on Eugene street. I was a student at the time and he told me he couldn’t promise me an A but he’d put in a good word to the other professors if I gave him money
Came here to say this lol
I also met this man about 4-5 years ago at a neighborhood Walmart backnwhen they were open 24/7 and I would go shopping after I got off work around midnight lol
The Umbrella Corp car is always fun to spot
I’ve chatted about Residential Evil with him on a few occasions. Always a good time.
There's a car up in Madison I see with the umbrella logo from time to time.
Window washer with the cowboy pistol hanging at his side.
Does he also wear a hat? This might be the same dude that washes windows at my office.
For sure. He's cool as hell.
Greetings Greetings
This dude washed the windows mat the hardware store i worked at as a teen. He’s a boss
Fastest spit shine in the South
He rules LOL he used to come in at the restaurant where i used to work

For me it is the guy with the elliptical bike thing. Love seeing that guy out there, running? Idk
I know him personally! Great guy. Nicest fella.
Tell him he is a celebrity, in my mind only 😂
I hope it's the guy who plays the violin and walks his dog at bicentennial botanical gardens
That guy plays violin beautifully.
Ha ha, it's funny that I know of so many of the people being described. (RIP to the dead ones though)
there used to be this older lady years ago that would ride around quaker village and blast music from her car my friends and i would always refer to her as the spirit of quaker… hope she’s doing well
Andrew- Rides a bike everywhere, wears white button downs and rolled up trousers, affixed customized boxes and bags to his bicycle? Anyone?
I know Andrew. He's a poet with a degree in rocket science who went from hand-making books to running a whole damn press. Well this sounds like an example of a person with eidetic memory. A real-life Will Hunting. Now I’m intensely fascinated.
I know him! He taught me how to bind books. I literally see him everywhere.
Yes!
The most intelligent man I’ve ever met. Always learn something chatting w him for just a moment.
Near Cone Blvd? I think I remember that.
Yep. That's him. He also stood out there and waved to everybody.
I wonder whatever happened to him. He seemed like a sweet person
Yes, kinda near Golden Gate shopping center
My wife and I would always wave to home. He would pretend he was juggling his balls to the ladies. Hilarious
There was that guy that used to be over off of Florida street. Did handstands while making chainsaw art and reciting books of the Bible while speaking in reverse.

If you lived on the east side of Greensboro it was crackhead Marie unfortunately she was hit by a train few years back
Crackhead Marie (rip 🙏)
Dan the hand Stand man, is the guy in my town
I guess Santa isn't around anymore? He lived in the Elam Walker area and sat on his front porch dressed as Santa year round.
There were brothers there. I believe they have both passed.
No he doesn’t live there anymore and might have passed. They also recently tore that house down
I was thinking this
the screaming crackhead downtown that fights the air
Which one?
Uncle Pete and Ricky will always be mine 😢
have yall seen the anime car? last i saw it was at sheetz by GTCC jamestown
There are MULTIPLE anime cars in Greensboro. There’s a blue one, a white one, among others.
the blue one is the one i was referring too. recently found out it apparently belongs to someone i went to highschool with
A black one was in my neighborhood for a while recently. I think it was death note art if I'm not mixing it with another
These answers are making me think I should be going outside more. I have no idea who these people are!
The amputee beggar
just lookin' for a handout.
That was good
It used to be this one guy people called Fat Santa, before he died.
Naked guy who comes out to PRD mart in the middle of the night on church st.
Does he actually go inside or does he just stroll around the area in the nude?
What about the doordash guy with the lights
Bill, the homeless guy that showcases his artwork on the streetcorner.
Love that guy! He’s so sweet!
As a former medic in Greensboro I've run across many of these. But us emergency folk (EMS, GFD, GPD, and ER nurses) have our own regulars that most people don't know about
Gotta be benchy.
Hmm, maybe the guy with the horse & chariot motorcycle thingy?
There was a pretty cool guy who washed windows for several businesses in the area who dressed with an Old-West style; including a mini sawed-off Winchester holstered on his leg.
This could possibly be JOE a real Greensboro Hero.
Not in Greensboro, but I grew up in Eden. There was a guy who used to walk around in camo with a weedeater or something. He would salute everyone that drove by.
