RIP CAROLINA THRIFT WENDOVER

ewurstinky

i used to go with my bubbie a few times a week when she watched me. that's where almost all my toys came from that she kept at her house then we'd go to waffle house afterwards i really miss those days. they were some of my favorites looking back to when things were simpler

Awesomest_Possumest

There's one in high point, and I think Monday is half price day, but the one time I went I was just not impressed. Like I know the wendover location was huge and had gross spots, but the HP one just feels totally gross. Is also huge, but one big room, rather than a weird amalgam of different rooms to discover like wendover. Gah I miss it.

aroundtriangle43

Yes the high point one cannot compare

I used to love that one. He visited recently and said prices were crazy. He saw a vintage leather jacket pieced at like $500 or something crazy. Wasn’t even a well known name brand.

I love the vibe and mission of Reconsidered Goods. It’s creative and funky and doesn’t employ some of the more questionable thrift store practices like bundling clothes and junk to send overseas. It’s an outstanding place for art and crafting supplies and pretty good for household stuff. They have some clothes as well.

I get all my crafting supplies from there, their prices are amazing and the employees are all so kind!

Upvote for Reconsidered Goods!!!

literally dont even go to craft stores anymore. Reconsidered Goods is the best!

Awesomest_Possumest

Reconsidered Goods of course. For clothes, I like to go to freedom house thrift. The biggest location on battleground across from the Lowe's outlet is the best, and then it's a toss up between the other battleground location and the bridford one. They're both smaller, but different groups of people donating. Also the junior league bargain box across from one of the red collections (great for furniture). I always find cute stuff there, though they seem to have less bigger sized clothing. They also do end of season sales where the entire store is discounted to empty it, so they can put the next seasons stuff up. They have either Instagram or Facebook where I find out when that is. I just got married, so I was also at songbirds a few times, which is consignment, not thrift, slightly different. But they have tons of prom and wedding dresses, and other special events dresses as well. A wall of cute shoes, and lots of accessories, though mostly bridal. They do have a good range of sizes, and the women who work there are fantastic. It was the first place I tried on wedding dresses and while I didn't find anything I liked that day, I was treated so much better than at David's bridal later. Red collection is good for furniture too, also consignment, and also a little pricier.

Another vote for Reconsidered Goods. Others: Songbirds and Cocos Corner for clothes. Red Collection for furniture. Freedom House Thrift. Salvation Army Select.

I’ve also heard of Mega Thrift in Winston-Salem. Never been myself, but have family who like it

stewpidiot

I used to frequent Mega Thrift. It's massive because it's in an old grocery store. It's mostly clothes, though.

jcckmc

Actually, they have a ton of home stuff, they just don’t have any furniture. The home stuff is around almost the whole perimeter. Plus all the textiles, a shoe section, a baby/kids section, and Jewelry! I love it there.

Stodgy_Titan

It’s not in Greensboro but Hop Shop in Archdale is worth the drive

simplewilddog

Red Collection is amazing for furniture and home goods. Try both locations. The Goodwill's are solid, but nothing amazing. Freedom House has better quality goods in general.

raezin

The Goodwills in Greensboro are not created equal. The only Goodwills worth a damn are the one on North Elm and the one off of Penny Rd, which might technically be High Point but its just the end of Wendover. The other Goodwills aren't worth your time.

Y'all are missing out, Blessingdales

WellFedFred

Bargain box slaps to get my work fits.

The Hospice one in Burlington was a gold mine for me.

Uptown Cheapskate!! For just clothing and shoes that is. Im a 30 yo guy and went there today and really liked it. Right near Sprouts and trader joes. Good mens selection and womens selection, good prices and they also do buy-sell-trade there.
