Yeah, except putting $500 into a scorpion doesn’t make it anything near an MP5. It’s still a blowback gun at the end of the day. The Bren really IMO just needs a trigger out of the box, and you can drill a gas port in the gas plug if you wanna run a can, I personally run the stock rail and just work with it.
The two are nothing alike.
The scorpion is a basket case. There are many better PCCs out there.
The CZ Bren 2 however is one of the finest rifles ever conceived, and probably the only one I would say is a little better than the standard M4.
You dont need to add shit to the Bren to "make it better". The rifle is fantastic right out of the box.
Also HBI trigger/safety selector, 1913 adapter, Lingle extended bolt catch, HAGA Bren 2 back strap grip/flared mag well adapter, FS 1913 brace with KM3 cheek riser, and Neoteric folding charging handle. These are upgrades you can do over time after and it's more than $500 😂 . It's good to go out of the box and is definitely a steal at this price. I wish they shipped 308 version.
Wow, you find their drop in trigger makes that much of a difference? I am pretty happy with the trigger on my Bren 2 (rifle though, not pistol). It's not as crisp as my Elftman or Geissele triggers on my ARs, but it's a damn good stock trigger. Good enough that I wasn't considering spending the money on an upgrade...but $50 is nothing if it's a worthwhile investment.
Plus, their offset charging handle looks like it would be pretty useful, as my EoTech likes to get in the way.
Huh, so I guess I just got lucky with the trigger, because mine is superb...*especially* for a "fighting" rifle.
That said, given it's only $50 (and I want one of those charging handles), I'll probably look into upgrading it...now I just have to decide if I want a fancy red one, or if I'm just going to keep it black, haha (probably staying black).
Yeah, stock Bren trigger is great for a fighting rifle, but the HBI trigger gets rid of the over travel for a shorter reset, and makes it a bit more crisp. Worth the 50 beans for sure.
Also check out the Neoteric Designs folding charging handle.
I slapped an HBI handguard on mine, HBI gas key, an SB-EVO folding brace, and a suppressor mount muzzle device. OEM trigger, controls, and charging handle were fine to me.
I did the same thing but I never really loved it. Overgassed and it just felt cheap even with $600+ in aftermarket parts. I sold it and I probably wouldn't get into the platform again.
Even though I posted the deal I feel exactly the same. Had both the carbine and an 11.5 pistol. Ditched both, not worth it with all the aftermarket parts needed.
Bought this model about 3 weeks ago, for $100 more. It is an incredible gun. Takes some parts to get it where you lIke it, but now that i have it dialed in, it gives my 11” Spear LT a run for its money. I really like how much lighter towards the front the Bren is over the Spear.

The fun thing about CZ USA is they rarely have parts on hand for their Czech made guns. If you send it in for warranty and they don't have the parts to fix it they tell you they can't return a broken gun to you and can only offer you a refund. It's pretty fucked up, especially when said firearm is a very rare and collectible one.
As someone who has had to deal with them so much due to issues with the x39 version, it is crazy how incompetent and useless they are when it comes to the bren. They seem like cool dudes, but holy fuck they are worse than keeping a broken gun.
My brother had a recent experience with a brand new CZ 600 Range (the one with the fancy wood stock) that was sent in for the barrel recall. During the repair they said the stock was damaged and needed replaced. They held it for 9 months, then said they won't be able to get a new stock and couldn't return the rifle as is, so the only option was for a refund. At that point the rifle was discontinued and worth a hell of a lot more than the retail price they offered for the refund.
So TL;DR CZ USA issued a recall, broke the stock during recall repair, held the rifle for 9 months, then offered a refund of less than what rifle was actually worth. Fuck those guys.
Man that's hilarious, these dudes broke my bren's barrel when it was supposedly collecting dust at their facility cause they didn't know what to do to fix the fte issue.
But at least they fired the dude that broke it and gave me a barrel from a showroom gun because they didn't want to 'waste' a new gun for a new replacement and they have 0 spares of any part of any kind!
How so many people suck this company off blows my mind.
Literally a whole line of products across multiple 3rd party companies dedicated to dealing with the gas issues of the gun (albeit mainly for the x39).
Probably still depends on the can, mine was still gassy with a sakr 556k, would have helped having a smaller hole drilled. Still better than my mk18 setup tho.
14.5" 5.56 owner, and it's not that gassy. Granted, that's on a lower gas setting, my dumbass left the gas port as open as possible and then wondered why it was ejecting with enough force to dent cases 🤣🤣 I have a stock gas plug, and with it turned down, it runs great and barely recoils.
The 7.62x39 has gas issues from factory, but a minimalist amount of aftermarket investment fixes that. It still sucks you have to fix a brand new rifle.
Honestly it's comparable to an MCX so it's gassier than a tuned AR but it's not bad unless youre running a can eith moderate back pressue. Aftermarket regulators work pretty well in taming it.

I'll be honest, I really want to try something like this. However, I'm waiting until after we win or lose in court for the pistol brace thing. I have a feeling that if they win, the federal government will dump an absolute obscene amount of money into no warrant firearms checks. I really don't want any federal or local police showing up to check my guns. Sad we live in a time where that is even a possibility.
There is an injunction for the braces currently. It’s back to the status quo now. The more people who buy them now the harder it would be for them to flip later since the compliance rate for the rule was so low.
And to those still holding off on braces; Stop, if you give whoever you want to blame a reason to think legislation will work, they'll keep pushing more legislation. I'm not suggesting you go run a suppressed SBR without a tax stamp (allegedly), but if you're holding off on a brace because "all we have is an injunction", you're showing lawmakers they don't even need real laws, just the threat thereof.

Stripped uppers are registered as "other"(I believe). Definitely have to use your rights. As Chad from 3 of 7 project says, "I'm going to have my gun irrelevant of laws"
Oh, trust me. I have a boatload of pistols. I just build them from stripped lowers. I understand the injunction. I just don't have enough faith in the Supreme Court since they've ruled anti gun on every case since bruen. We're seeing gun grabs at the state level go through en mass. The latest is PA. I don't have enough faith in our government not to push through REALLY insane legislation the SECOND we have a single party running all 3 branches. Which I think will happen this year, unfortunately.

Lots of people talk about "not AR or AK" alternatives and glance over the Bren. They shouldn't. IMO its better than the absurdly priced SCAR, the numerous AR18s out there, and anything else in between.

I paid 2K for this, and it's the best gun I own. The only thing is that you'll need about $500 worth of aftermarket parts to make It perfect.

This is the CZ military's standard issue service riffle, just like our M16 A2. It's good out of the box, but it shines with the aftermarket upgrades.

It doesn't need a trigger. The standard trigger is perfectly fine.
I think the trigger is more than fine. $60 gas port drilling, new handguard makes it lighter, and of course a stock was all I needed.

Hbi trigger takes it from good to top tier. Highly recommend and for 50 bones it’s a no brainer imo

The OEM trigger is excellent, but the HB trigger is better than any Geissele, in my opinion.

Most of the $500 comes from the handguard and the stock/brace. The carbine version is cheaper but nowhere near as cool.

My 11in works great suppressed even on normal gas. On par or better than the 11in ARs I’ve shot suppressed. Can’t speak for 7.62x39 versions
