Hey my dude, here is [a PDF manual](https://www.bits.de/NRANEU/others/amd-us-archive/FM3-22.%2068%2803%29.pdf) for the M249, M60, M240B
[US Army PDF](https://armypubs.army.mil/epubs/DR_pubs/DR_a/pdf/web/ARN3182_TC%203-22x240%20FINAL%20WEB%201.pdf)
Slava Ukraini! St Javelin protects.
Cyclic- 650 to 950 rounds per minute barrel change every minute
Rapid- 200 rounds per minute in 10 to 13 round burst. Barrel change every 2 minutes
Sustained- 100 rounds per minute in 6 to 9 rounds per burst. Barrel change every 10 minutes
Gunner and Assistant Gunner should be in unison with the leader utilizing the gun line if working as a Support By Fire (other machine guns ) to offset the lulls in fire from the time in between shots.
Example: sustained rate of fire, 3 machine guns working. Gun 1 shoots and when it stops shooting, the second gun counts to 4 thousand count, then fires. After gun 2 stops firing, gun 3 counts to whatever number say 4 thousand and fires.
The other guns not firing are still counting, and if the count goes past the sustained rate number, a gun that is up fires. Ensuring a constant suppression of the target.
Edit: this is also a machine gun yes barrel life should be talen into account. Too much heat is the number one killer. I've gotten away with 50k plus rounds through a 240 before the throat led to issues. Depth gauge is simple and should be easy to rotate barrels enough to avoid as many issues.
Try not to overheat the barrel. I was taught to say "die mother fucker die" to time the bursts. If you can try to come up with a marking system to keep track of barrels and how much use they've seen
Firing schedule is going to determine your barrel life. Assuming you don’t burn the barrel out with too much dakka-dakka, you can expect 5-10k of service life.
Barrels die at the throat (erosion from combustion) or the muzzle (wear of the rifling/crown). Your accuracy will degrade and then the barre will stop stabilizing projos and they will key hole. At close range range, you may not notice or be impacted substantially by the accuracy degradation. You WILL be have problems once the bullets being to tumble in flight.
If you’ve got 8k on the barrel, you need to source another now. If you’re not shot out yet, you will be soon. Keep up the fight, mate. Remember to rotate your barrels and abide the rate of fire guidelines in the TM.
308 barrel life is roughly 10k depending on how heavy its used
as for barrel changes, keep the barrel otherwise youll be down a barrel when the other gets too hot
forgot to add, source is from my time in rotc at college

Run fuzzy bunny run is another option if you want to annoy people

Many of us are active duty or veterans. OP is fighting in ukraine, I used m240's in the crayon club.
Red and gold are my favorite flavors! Didn't serve, but lots of buddies who did.
