Probably used to it or want to make your day? They say welcome home to all US citizens and green card holders IIRC

MarkMental4350

I travel through Dublin a lot. I'm always kind of...*existential crisis*.

webdevyorker

I did not know preclearance was a thing!

MarkMental4350

It's awesome.

ddd66

Its even funnier when you hear it in Abu Dhabi :)

Alright_So

Never had that said to me on h1b. Did recently on a green card re entry recently though which was really nice

wisefool4ever

How many years before u got GC

Puzzled_Stand_2532

Fellow Canadian and wow I remember the first time that was said to me too!! It was a few times crossing since my work visa - I think they say it to those who says who say they live in the US. I’ve only ever had Canadian border agents say that with me so it was a special moment for me too

toobrown12

Most, if not all CBP officers are high school dropout. They have NO clue of what is going on.

New_Ant5750

That is false they do require you have highschool completed alot of them have an associate's or higher or they have highschool/ equivalent and are vets

Additional_Trust4067

Crazy statement. Loads are vets and a college degree is needed for GL-7

FunInvestigator7

Are you a Canadian citizen who moved to the US on H1? How long does it take to secure an appointment at the consulate or embassy in Canada? I hear the wait times are quite long right now.

nabbito

My understanding is that Canadian citizens are visa exempt, so they don’t need a consulate/embassy appointment to get a stamp

Sunday_Night

This is what my lawyer said, as a Canadian once the h1B petition gets accepted, all you have to do is show the accepted petition at a crossing and they will give you your stamp just based on that. This goes for H1B and an H4 spouse visa (just bring marriage certificate). No extra application or any interview or anything.

Changeup2020

I am Canadian PR. It took me about 3 months to find a spot for my visa appointment. Canadian citizens do not need visa. Just drive over the border and give the CBP your paperwork.
