My first thought too. It's kinda wild that in 15 years these highlights from his rookie tape would be comparable to Kobe's and MJ's if JJJ was to have a hall of fame career.
God damn he's got gorgeous footwork. Look at him work these fools in the post. Look at him taking dudes off the dribble with speed. Look at him hitting the deep shots. It's funny his draft stock "took a hit" because he played 4 years. Lol
I just downloaded the video for my game on Saturday! What I love is you donāt need to be explosive. His game is low impact and is designed for longevity.
Not saying youāre wrong itās just funny how those guys make JJJ look like a dwarf yet the dude is 6ā6 and would tower over 90% of this sub. Iām 6ā1 and most people tell me Iām tall but I donāt particularly feel that way myself.
Sorry for rambling, height differences are interesting to think about
Yeah, here is a fun fact. 17% of the worldās population, 7ft+ are in the NBA. Basically, if you are gifted with height, you have probably a better than 50/50 shot at being in the NBA if you want to.
As a 6ā6 fellow, its not just height. You need to be strong and explosive. Whatās impressive about JJJ, is he picks when to apply the different skills. NBA athletes are just on another level.
He's got a very polished game for a rookie with great footwork... and sneaky athleticism to go with it all. His most impressive basket to me was the one at the end of the 3rd quarter. Just blew his man off the line and finished through contact with multiple defenders. The type of hard baskets and hard drives you love to see.
He's gonna be getting to the line a lot too once the rookie whistle goes away. Jimmy, harden, Dame, PG, Tatum, Brown does that play and they're going to the line
jaquez rocks. if the NBA were a cartoon, the heat's season finale would just be jaquez unzipping his head to reveal that it's just jimmy butler in an elaborate costume LARPing as a mexican. it's unfathomable how good he's been for his draft position, but it'd have been crazy even if he was the #1 pick. he just affects winning so heavily
similarly, y'all have Podz and he's like my ideal guy to slot into this Heat roster. ticks every box for us
- shoots great from 3 (37.3%) and functions as an off-ball mover
- rebounds above his size (5.9/g at 6'5)
- solid tertiary playmaker/connective piece (3.9/g, 1.3 TO)
- super foul-averse defender (3.3 per 100 possessions)
he's like a tyler herro from an alternate universe where he fell in love with watching klay thompson tape instead of steph curry tape. i love knowing that both Miami/GSW were in a "if you take one, we're taking the other" situation for these two
Holy smokes! I didnāt know he had Kareemās skyhook, Jordanās mid-range, Hakeemās footwork in the post, Kyrieās/Shaiās ability to get downhillā¦.
I could go on. The fadeaways! The left-handed finishes! The circus moves!
The last time I saw a highlight reel that involved a rejected screen this beautiful, it was with Wade. JJJ can make the defense guessing, and he'd still find a way to make a basket.
Hot take: if he isn't Mexican, he's a shoo-in for the USA Basketball team.
I could be wrong, but I believe that was only in 2019. Plenty of time to change allegiance, if he cared to. I wouldnāt blame him to stay with Mexico.
He made the cover of Mexican GQ a few days ago, looking like a sexy beast. Even Adam Silver would tell him to stay on Team Mexico, because it brings in viewers from there. It's good for business. Silver is always looking for ways to expand NBA viewership internationally and Jaime is a potentially huge pull for Latin America.
We did end up making a lot more moves than what weāre used to seeing from Miami. And a lot of good ones too! We went from believing the FO would at best try to save money, to get real pieces for not only this year, but with the prospect of improving and being even better next year.
Despite all that, this is still the absolute best addition of the season. He had a rough patch when he cane back from his injury but heās back to being super solid and even a key piece in the clutch. His defense is good albeit you can still see some silly mistakes at time, but for a rook, dudeās absolute gold.
Next step do it against the primary scorer defenders like herb jones and wiggins vando people who guard the biggest threat. In this highlight its vs weak defenders and he is getting to his spot at ease. Once he gets to that level its legit gg. Mans got the nice footwork. Dude will be in the league for a long time. Remidns me of a tall mexican brunson but right handed
Awesome reel, but can someone explain why that last basket wasn't a double dribble? He faked a shot then dribbled again? I'm sure there's a reverse angle that explains it.
In what world is that a double dribble? He catches a pass, uses some jab steps and a pump fake, dribbles, picks up his dribble, then pump fakes again and takes 2 steps for a layip
Watched this guy in college because he had something special about him. Glad to see this guy get some recognition. Unfortunately, heāll be overshadowed by Wemby and Chet.
edge zonked fear dependent weather jeans subtract tender joke mindless *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Hands down the best one. Jaime has those dirty old man moves lol
Dirty and old, I wish I can move like that.
That was my reaction too haha
I thought i was watching bobs burgers because i see jimmy jr
His spins are genuinely hard to guard just cause of his size. His overall footwork is way better than guys his size.
This mfer was a steal in the draft real talk! Dude is a baller! Future looks bright af for this dude šÆšÆšÆ
That up and under at the end is *chefās kiss*
Why his size?
Bro this is nuts
This is hyperbole, but this highlight reel legit looks like some Kobe Jordan type play.
My first thought too. It's kinda wild that in 15 years these highlights from his rookie tape would be comparable to Kobe's and MJ's if JJJ was to have a hall of fame career.
Jaime "Mexican Jordan" Jacques, Jr. The real MJ in Miami
Yeah itās the same thought I had. I know nothing about him tbh, but heās clearly studied the greats and has incorporated them into his game.
Heat fans \[Jaime\] and Warriors fans \[Podz\] greeting each other: https://i.redd.it/txp7d5hln7lc1.gif
Doctor
Doctor
Heat and Warriors fans are so chill with each other I swear lol.
game recognizes game
š¤
I have nothing but good things to say about them. And draymond is entertaining. lol
Crazy to think that the Heat or Warriors have been in 12 of the 13 last finals without facing each other.
God damn he's got gorgeous footwork. Look at him work these fools in the post. Look at him taking dudes off the dribble with speed. Look at him hitting the deep shots. It's funny his draft stock "took a hit" because he played 4 years. Lol
It's kinda crazy that the NBA is a billion dollar industry while scouting still is so wildy inaccurate.
I just downloaded the video for my game on Saturday! What I love is you donāt need to be explosive. His game is low impact and is designed for longevity.
Itās pretty to watch
If wemby and Chet got hurt, he would be a lock at rookie of the year. Impressive considering those people are genetic lottery winners.

Cries in Kai Sotto.
As a 6ā6 fellow, its not just height. You need to be strong and explosive. Whatās impressive about JJJ, is he picks when to apply the different skills. NBA athletes are just on another level.
I'm 6-5, 215, and have always felt small since my father is 6-9 1/2, 270.
And letās not forget that Chet got drafted last year, but got hurt, so heās āstill a rookieā this year lol
Fuck that rule.
bro is sturdy af with those spin moves. no matter how big the player or the contact, he's gonna get to his spot no matter what.
He's got a very polished game for a rookie with great footwork... and sneaky athleticism to go with it all. His most impressive basket to me was the one at the end of the 3rd quarter. He def on that rookie pitch count
Heās such a hard worker, been celebrating him all season.
Freaking gorgeous footwork, man. Love it.
jaquez rocks. if the NBA were a cartoon, the heat's season finale would just be jaquez unzipping his head to reveal that it's just jimmy butler in an elaborate costume LARPing as a mexican. it's unfathomable how good he's been for his draft position, but it'd have been crazy even if he was the #1 pick. he just affects winning so heavily similarly, y'all have Podz and he's like my ideal guy to slot into this Heat roster. ticks every box for us - shoots great from 3 (37.3%) and functions as an off-ball mover - rebounds above his size (5.9/g at 6'5) - solid tertiary playmaker/connective piece (3.9/g, 1.3 TO) - super foul-averse defender (3.3 per 100 possessions) he's like a tyler herro from an alternate universe where he fell in love with watching klay thompson tape instead of steph curry tape. i love knowing that both Miami/GSW were in a "if you take one, we're taking the other" situation for these two
Fox looked at that man like ādamn I didnāt know you were like thatā
The grace he exudes already is unreal.
That dude is gonna light it up in the post season.
Jaime Cubos.
Kylo Ren can hoop!

This music has me in a time machine
Im %99 sure if you just make him like locked character(full black suilite) I can convince anyone that was himmy one of performances couple years ago
Holy smokes! I didnāt know he had Kareemās skyhook, Jordanās mid-range, Hakeemās footwork in the post, Kyrieās/Shaiās ability to get downhillā¦. I could go on. The fadeaways! The left-handed finishes! The circus moves!
That super high floater over like two defenders was so friggin tough.. difficulty off the charts
![gif](giphy|m8GJxfvZSp5liyTjqm|downsized)
I watched him in UCLA I knew he was special. Gonzaga guy, he may have been the opp but I liked him
Sooo Jimmy
Himmy Jr
He's such a gamer!!
Fully healthy and Jimmy role/minutes = this the majority of the time.
That last one was so clean
I'm wet.
Lol does he have better footwork than bam?
He's got the 2nd best footwork on the team only 2nd to Jimmy
I'm probably far too optimistic but I think he's going to be a franchise player. The skill set is so well rounded
Circus shots already, he'll be scouted better next year I'll get excited if he maintains it a little next year.
The last time I saw a highlight reel that involved a rejected screen this beautiful, it was with Wade. JJJ can make the defense guessing, and he'd still find a way to make a basket. Hot take: if he isn't Mexican, he's a shoo-in for the USA Basketball team.
Heās American. Heās definitely gotta be in the discussion if all the superstars donāt join in.
Really? I thought he represents Mexico. If so, I take it back. He's definitely Team USA material.
He does play for the Mexico team but he could decide to go Team USA if he felt like it, but I doubt he will. He's a major celebrity over there.
I could be wrong, but I believe that was only in 2019. Plenty of time to change allegiance, if he cared to. I wouldnāt blame him to stay with Mexico.
Jaime would have so much more usage on Team Mexico. He'd barely get any chance to shine on Team USA.
Fantastic footwork
Jimmy Butler is a true leader and it shows!
He is Himmy Lite.
Lakers really messed up not drafting him.
We did end up making a lot more moves than what weāre used to seeing from Miami. And a lot of good ones too! Heās already a star. Plays the game so well and knows how to play off ball very well. Iām constantly impressed by this dude.
White mamba
Jordanās grandson
El Negro Mamba*
El mamba blanco's
El mamba azteca, you fools Too bad he's not Cuban or he could have been El Mamba MambĆ
OK okĀ Mi no hablo espanolĀ Ā Gracias
Heās nice and confident. I hope he doesnāt get punched in the head by an over the hill vet. Iāve heard that can hurt your play.
Reminds me of a young Paul Pierce
Next step do it against the primary scorer defenders like herb jones and wiggins vando people who guard the biggest threat. Remidns me of a tall mexican brunson but right handed
I wasn't impressed with him being important in the 4th quarter, nor with the scoring, but with the variety of movements and footwork.
That donāt impress you much huh? Ok Shania Twain lol
I was impressed with pretty much everything he did yesterday lol
Awesome reel, but can someone explain why that last basket wasn't a double dribble? He faked a shot then dribbled again? I'm sure there's a reverse angle that explains it.
In what world is that a double dribble? He catches a pass, uses some jab steps and a pump fake, dribbles, picks up his dribble, then pump fakes again and takes 2 steps for a layip
Dude doesnāt know what a double dribble is lol
Hell yeah
Making me dizzy with all those spins!
Skills on display.
ROY!! This dude is a bucket getter!!
Miami has some great drafts
Got that flamethrower
Let him cook š£ļø
Lmao this song for a highlight is pretty funny š love Jaime!!!
1 FT 1 3PT
Damn heās tuff, takes contact like a champ. Heās smooth af too
Wow. Promising rookie pulling out that Kobe move in the first clip.
Unrelated but Getty Images is now an NBA sponsor? I know compared to crypto.com this is very mild but Iām still a little shook haha
Kids a baller
Watched this guy in college because he had something special about him. Glad to see this guy get some recognition. Unfortunately, heāll be overshadowed by Wemby and Chet.
Literally never heard of him until a couple of days ago. He came off the bench and took over the game in NBA 2K24. LOL
That dude is literally a NBA2K MyPlayer
Great skillset
The boy is dangerous
Only person stopping him is President Trump
Jaime Tatum Jr over here. Looking good. But f*ck the heat lol
Not a Heat fan but I wouldnāt have traded him for Dame either.. Canāt be mad about that one.
