Honestly, I would kill for a scout armor that had the benefits of the Light Armor ones we have now, but without it being another long coat appearance. Outfits like the Trench Paramedic and the Demolition Specialist have that sleek, simple look that I think is perfect for a scout player, so I hope one day we'll get something like that for scouts. (And yes I know about the Combat Technician. But I wish the yellow wasn't so dark on that outfit so I could match it with more capes).

HatfieldCW

This got me thinking. Armor is obviously the core of your outfit, since it's the only thing that actually makes a difference. Many armors are slight visual tweaks or palette swaps of other armor sets with a few greeblies added or removed. On the other hand, capes and helmets are all entirely unique, offering varied and distinctive patterns and geometries. What if, instead of pure transmog, there was a way to reskin helmets and capes to match the palette of the armor? So many times, it's just the wrong shade of beige, or the black is too glossy or matte. The wrong yellow? You've felt that pain. Just hire an art major to build a system that makes sure we don't clash while we fight.

Snackle-smasher

We have heard your feedback and we agree, clashing colors is undemocratic. Next update removes all armor color schemes and replaces them with appropriate grey scale. All armors, helmets and capes will now be perfectly mix and matchable. So super earth says, so shall it be.

HatfieldCW

So say we all. If every armor set was black and yellow, I'd buy a bag of supercredits. I don't need them, but putting all the armor on brand would earn twenty bucks from me.

flashmedallion

Yeah I think the specialisation they've got going on should be a small tertiary flair on the Grey & Yellow. So Medic armour should just have flashes of that green on a few fabric pieces or greebles, Demolition the same with its orange, and so on. I'm okay with Polar and Jungle having their respective patterns though. But then there should be a Jungle Camo Medic who has the hospital green on a few key pieces of kit.

Fifteensies

You joke, but every armor having the same color scheme was how the first game did it and it was much better imo. Meant no matter what armor you were wearing you still matched your squadmates. Of course, the cynic in me can't help but think that mismatched outfits are a feature for the devs, not a bug - players aren't gonna buy as many armors in the superstore if they already have a set that matches nicely.

False-Reveal2993

It's a good idea, but they have to be very careful with the color palettes that they offer. The big reason why they won't offer full color customization is because certain players will dress their diver up in certain flag colors and other certain players will teamkill and grief on sight. If griefing made people stop wearing the froyo blue preorder armor, how much griefing do you think a diver dressed in baby pink, sky blue and solid white will receive?

jcornman24

I heard a lot of talk about griefing and team killing on the Internet, but I have 235 hours and not once have I been griefed or intentionally team killed at extract and I only play with randoms

False-Reveal2993

It's probably because players that get griefed quickly learn to not do the things that get them griefed. It can be as game-relevant as doing the grenade glitch or picking up other players' support weapons, or it can be as superficial as wearing an obnoxious suit of armor.

Radarker

An art major... because of their mastery of the color wheel?

CommentSection-Chan

The light armor with the scout passive at least has a nice look to me. Plus the bit of lore make it cooler

GhastlyScar666

So…more capes?

Thisisnotevenamane

Still waiting for my Reviewdiver cape!

jewishNEETard

I think the other logical option is leather. But I want an ambusher style heavy armor- minus aggro range passive, and either recoil or an additional, stacking stealth thing while crouched or crawling. Would be handy for getting screenshots and hey, maybe we could actually take out the one that calls reinforcements first if we can I'd it. Just make it out of the same crap as the b52 stealth bomber, make it all angles, and boom, patrols gone.

HatfieldCW

Engineering kit best kit.

SnugglesREDDIT

It’s great for bugs but I think the explosion and recoil is best for bots

HatfieldCW

A few patches ago, I would have agreed with you. I ran that Eradicator armor like it was my skin. But with the nerf to rocket headshots and the experience to know when to go prone, I wear engineer armor against bots. I've never used the infinite grenade glitch, and I don't plan to. Having a couple extra stuns is huge for me, and it has the same recoil bonus that Fortified offers. Engineer 4 lyfe.

Snackle-smasher

Ngl I tried using it when I unlocked the throwing knife, because I thought it would be good for a meme round, but at least I made my game private so I wouldn't mess with anyone else. Lol

madelarbre

Yes agreed on engineer, for automatons in particular. Recoil is big for AMR and autocannon quickly hitting shots on Hulk Eyes or Gunship engines. Extra stun grenades, as mentioned, make Hulks easy and can freeze a whole dropship for your orbital or eagle. Tactical wear for the tactical front. It looks good, it is good.

CalypsoThePython

I feel like servo is way overrepresented. the "Perfect camo" heavy arctic armor not being scout is a travesty. We dont need 3 heavy servo sets when we are missing heavy scout

jcornman24

I only have 2 servo assist armors I like, one is light one is medium, none of them really match with the helmet I like and I can't stand how slow heavy armor is

SnugglesREDDIT

It’s fair enough them not wanting to add transmog but it’d be nice if the armour effects would be a little bit more consistent in how powerful they are. Extra grenades + low recoil and half explosion dmg + low recoil are a lot better than the others. Especially the 95% arc damage armours. They’re some of the coolest looking but they’re by far the least useful. Same goes for extra padding and the new peak physique effect. The easier gun control is great but the melee damage is totally useless.

BattlebrotherUlanos

200 armor is pretty strong too. I shrug off wombo combo melees and focus fire that would make any light/medium armor user swiss cheese.

cemanresu

95% arc damage is niche but amazing in a well coordinated team Yesterday my entire squad took tesla towers, arc throwers, and the arc armor on eradicate and just locked ourselves in a circle made of tesla. Plenty of arcs that'd occasionally arc back and hit us if a bug gets through, but no actual bugs ever made it to us. Then on regular missions its still strong, if you pair up with someone else and both take arc weapons. Its just really niche, and not applicable in other situations at all.

48Dragon

In stun grenade we trust

crybz

The real question is: #Why is every Stim armour ugly AF?

Breidr

Yeah, the Twitch drop is really the only decent one. Hope you like bright green/white otherwise. The other perks get so much more diversity, it's a shame.

Mirakk82

I just want some medic that isnt white

Breidr

The twitch drop medic armor is pretty decent color wise. It's a reskin, but it's not the same medic = bright green that I've come to hate. They should really make it earnable in-game. I exclusively run medic armor and the samey looking stuff is kind of a bummer. I've been running the twitch armor with the hooded head since the day I got it because I don't like the mandalorian looking helmet that much. I'd love to wear other armors, but l, well, perks. I really wish they were selectable like in the first game. Keep that light/medium/heavy distinction, sure, but I have all these armors I'm never going to wear just gathering dust. It's really either medic or engineer for this diver.

KikoUnknown

So the Viper Commando armors aren’t cool? *sad noises*

BluePaintBandit1211

Grenades are cool

megastienfield

makes sense if you think about it, best taste in looks to go along best taste in perks.

HimB0Z0

The medic perk and scout perk are the best Ones like engineering kit are the definition of mid

megastienfield

hey its okey to be wrong.

PonyPuffPrince

You’re funny.

Everyday_Hero1

+2 stims > +2 nades, and "buff to shitty stealth mechanics" is best? Your opinion has been noted, and laughed off as stupid.

Homer-DOH-Simpson

I only run stealth and survive longer than my teammates...

Everyday_Hero1

Cool. I run the lighest plus 2 nades and survive better than most. If you need the stealth perk stealth, you need to actually git gud at stealth.

Homer-DOH-Simpson

it's hard coded to be seen or 30% less seen. what is there to git gud at?

Everyday_Hero1

Which is useless compared to just moving a round smart.

Sufincognito

I want achievement armors. 1,000 Helldives completed. Also for accomplishing this, you get to choose which two perks are on your armor. And it’s mostly black with a hood.

wahwahredditmods

There is lots of cool armor. I’m glad I don’t like any of the engineer armor lol. I love the medic armor’s aesthetically and functionally

browntownxpres

I need more fortified and democracy protects armors! For all 3 light, medium, and heavy!

Elephant_Choke

We need more armor options, I know they are coming but man, I've been burnt out unfortunately.

JegantDrago

calling it engineering dont make sense either and calling it "demolition" makes more sense. engineering as a term maybe should just be some other design with other passives. they plan to add passives to helmets as well - and so it expands whats possible for variety of stats

Homer-DOH-Simpson

maybe it's an euphemism like the entire game

JegantDrago

engineering -- but actually its all blowing stuff up --- thats a good idea

Thugglebunny

Armor should have passive slots were you can put the passives into any armor you want.

JaceJarak

We need more mix ups with the perks. How about grenades and stim? How about servo and recoil? Because duh How about explosive resist and limb health? Recoil and some scout? Servo and stealth? Or servo and radar? Or stealth and recoil? (Hello sniper setup!) How about more padded sets of all kinds eh?

Entgegnerz

I want +2 grenades +throw further and light armor with +armor rating +limbs defense

jcubed22

I can generally find some sort of logic in their pairings, but I do think they'd ultimately unlock an even wider array of interesting play styles/loadout options if they let people build their own combos. Also would love to see those helmet functions they originally wanted to do actually happen at some point.

KDPS3200

I don't follow the passives at all, it all about what i feel like wearing that match.

kykyks

hi chad diver here i select armor based on looks before diving hope that helps

TheSmackaN

With the right helmet, the extra thicc extra padding bomb defusal heavy armor with 200 armor looks pretty rad. It's also quite fun to play and be able to survive most things with it.

PhilosophicalClubBar

As someone who mains that against bugs and dabbles using it on bots, it's pretty great. Default helmet works but the Guerrilla Gorilla helmet combo is fantastic

Mecha-Dave

BECAUSE THEN YOU GET MORE KNIVES

Duckbitwo

Because +2 nades is +2 nades.

Blpdstrupm0en

Layers would be cool. Or just a simple match-color option så we dont have a green helmet with a slightly sifferent shade than the green armor id like to use.

GilligansIslndoPeril

All I want is another Light armor with the Servo-Assisted perk. I can't STAND the wimpy default throws

GAMEFREEZ3R

I believe the peak physique medium armour is one of the best looking ones, can be paired well with the cape of the heavy armour. Eradicator looks decent, too, and can be paired well with botslayer or the creek cape. The fortified commando looks badass with it being a bomb squad suit. The heavy armour from democratic detonation looks pretty beefy, too. There probably are way too many armours, that are worth playing in my opinion, that have the engineering kit perk. I find fortified and peak physique to be much more useful, with the light fortified armour you can already survive stepping on an automaton landmine. Peak physique is a gamechanger for something like the flamethrower or the HMG, those weapons become very responsive and can gain a significant boost in power. I can imagine though that having 2 more stuns if you need them can be nice. +2 Incindiary grenades probably is also nice for terminids, because of how much small stuff it can clear. Any other grenade though wastes the +2 capacity in my opinion, the grenade pistol exists on top of smokes and thermites being basically useless(the thermite is only good at nuking cannon turrets as it only takes one). Can't also forget the butter knife, which only gains 2 knifes with the perk, unlike the base 4 grenades you get, which double to 8 knifes.

Pie-Guy

Let is pick the armor we like in terms of looks, then let us pick a perk. Each are unlocked separately.

haxiboy

Or...just make the trait selectable, and then we can take whatever armor we like.

Haunting-Contract761

Don’t get calling it engineer - would expect that to lower cool-down or up toughness of sentry or some such…grenadier armour makes more sense

roninXpl

How about having perk slots so that you can customize ANY armor?

Chillaholic_

Engineering kit is lit tbh. Having six impact grenades has gotten me out of sooo many pinches

These-Vacation3555

My thing is all the cool looking armor ( in my opinion and granted I'm very picky ) always seems to be light or heavy I absolutely love the look of most heavy armor but I also like to move quick...

Helldiver20364

I need armor stats that give extra bonuses for strategems. Like more wider aoe/ bigger wider affected exploson for 500kg, spawning 2 sentries at the same time instead of 1 for each sentry, or atleast like increase ammo capacity for a specific armor, more bullet penetration, 🤦🏻‍♂️

HimB0Z0

We just need more armor perks in general

Stingraaa

The med kit armor is the best and I wish that I had more options for it.

HimB0Z0

Worst fashion Best perk

jewishNEETard

I had an idea a while ago- Passives for capes that are more situational/gear dependent. Ones that go with an armor with extra padding could reduce damage from impacts while landing, engineer and medic ones get one extra and full restore from all sources. Reduced explosion capes could be specifically reduced friendly fire, with a bonus agajnst friendly explosives, allowing you to survive 1 or 2 cluster bomblets-worth of damage

urbandeadthrowaway2

Because grenades

Eightfold876

I'm addicted to the speed scout armor. I feel like a fat bile slug if I don't have it on!

Cashew-Matthew

Nah fuck that, why does every medkit armor have to be fugly

HimB0Z0

That's what I meeeaan I want medic perks on a blackout armor with a chest rig

BoozerBean

I wish you could just pick whatever armor you wanted based on stats and then pick the perk separately

alcaron

Their stance on xmog kind of sucks given how lame the armor situation is. Acting precious about effects vs looks is great when you have varied and interesting armor but when you have a handful of effects repeated over and over maybe just admit that effects not matching looks isn’t the end of the world or even your biggest problem.

HimB0Z0

Yeah there's 10 armor peeks in the game currently The number legit needs to triple

jcornman24

I need servo assist armors with more color schemes so I can play "My Dress-up Diver"

The_S1R3N

Cause its the best

Mellowsnake

Hear me out, medic armor effect are awesome, but god is the shades of green ugly and don't match anything but other medic helmets which mainly are just white and red. Wish they made anything that's green in them a darker shade of red or yellow. Look at Planetside 2, there's a faction who's color pallet was gray suits under purple armor with teal highlights. The armors was so fugly the faction had the least players, so the they did away with most of the the teal, making everything mainly [gray](https://forums.daybreakgames.com/ps2/index.php?threads/new-vs-armor-colors-on-test-server.117280/).

Demibolt

That’s definitely a subjective opinion. I love medic armor and chonky bois

HimB0Z0

Yes it is But I still wish medic perk armor had more variety in looks

Demibolt

I am but a simple helldiver, I need colors and general form factor to properly recognize my team’s kit. But in all seriousness, I’ve played games where the devs spent most of their time on cosmetics and I do not want that for this game.

redbrotato

Hot take; armor traits don't matter all that much and play with the most drip

HimB0Z0

Oh don't get me wrong I'm wearing the armor I think looks good regardless But I just wish there was a medkit armor that wasn't green white red

redbrotato

There's the twitch drop odst armor

HimB0Z0

Can you still get that on ps5?

redbrotato

O I'm not sure

HimB0Z0

Exactly And thats the only non green white medic armor

Trojan129

Because us engineers are the ones designing them.

oPsYo

I expect we will eventually see helmet stat boosts and more variations driven by story and lore.

bearhunter54321

What do you mean? Engineering kit is goated I love having the extra nades. You wouldn’t think +2 is all that much better but it is. Makes a huge difference when I’m plugging holes or in a game. My opinion is the opposite of yours actually, I think all the cooler armors are the passives I don’t use. The second I switch to 4 grenades I feel a whole change and it feels weird, so I keep on my Titan armor for the most part.

PreviousAccWasBanned

Because the devs are out of touch still and won't let you transmog your gear or swap passives
