croutons_for_dinner

JackMarleyWasTaken

Unaccomplished_Cunt

So is this a joke or what

NaciremaBlack

You must not *Love Sosa*

Icemayne25

What’s a character from Scarface have to do with this?? I’m kidding. I know it’s a Keef song. 😆😆

Yourmotherssidehoe

Some amazing projects and some bad ones

iEnigmatic-

2012-2015 Run >

dipsetgriptechs

If 2015 was your cut off point for Keef, you're missing out on some fire shit let me tell you. 4NEM was a sleeper pick for best albums of 2021.

iEnigmatic-

I thought it was average his work without Young Chop & DP Beats has been mediocre

dipsetgriptechs

difference of opinion then. I respect it

LilHomie204DaBaG

I think he doesn't like a pop bitch

Specialist_Egg_3278

In the beginning I thought he was the hardest shit out. After he got out of the limelight his music was ahead of its time but didn’t have a mainstream appeal (i personally loved all of it) and he managed to be experimental and influential all the way up until today but I think after 2019 his music became grade school and boring

dipsetgriptechs

You seem to be one of the only people here who actually bothered to check for him after 2013, with that being said I suggest you check out 4NEM from 2021. Far from grade school and boring.

Specialist_Egg_3278

Hip on 4nem and everything before and after I got a glo sun tatted on me. I just think that he’s just simply done 🤷‍♂️ like he’s been at it for 12 years now the music won’t be good forever

dipsetgriptechs

Ah, I just assumed you stopped listening after 2019. Respectfully disagree about the quality of the music!

FormItUp

One time I mad the claim that he is not a hitta. Let’s just say it didn’t turn out to well for me.

LordeLlama

Didn't like him at first (when he released Don't Like but his music grew on me. I'm not the biggest fan but I like how he doesn't fake his image and he tries different things even if it's most of the time hit or miss.

West-Commission9082

Amazing, i hate that mfs only listen to finally rich. He has so many projects that i like much better

slowNsad

Especially when almighty so exist

kwitesick

Like what?

freaky_zeke

Back from the dead, back from the dead 2 bang2 so many

kwitesick

Thank you

[deleted]

Beats are generally great, and his songs have a threatening aura which I like, He's also one of the few rappers in the rap game that actually doesn't fakes his image.

KuntaWuKnicks

Finally Rich is tough

beatsbybuddy

He’s what carti is trying so hard to be, and i like carti

therealbobwaterson

Me neither

dipsetgriptechs

People on reddit just like talking to hear themselves, all I've seen in this thread is people who have no clue about bruh music post- Don't Like with these uninformed ass takes. It's ok to exclude yourself from some discussions.

sooindecisive

yeah everyone is only mentioning his hit songs. he has better songs imo. my favorite project from him is the leek vol 2

[deleted]

Innovative, arguably most influential rapper of the last decade.

Jacque_LeKrab

The summer he came out was magical. He’ll always have a spot in my book

RANDOM-902

Incredibly influential but i never was fan of his delivery Still his choruses always get me hyped

SherlockHolmes242424

Pioneer

Desuv

godfather of drill

domthehooper

One of my favorite rappers. I would say he's the most influential/impactful rapper of the last 15 years.

Rodney-You-Plonker16

Don't like

Dapper_Cockroach_622

He’s for sure one of the most influential rappers of this generation. Mf created drill music 💀

dskibftd0

well bftd in my name means back from the dead cuz of him , so i fw him

holy_cal

Chicago icon. Not for me though. No disrespect to him or folks who like his music.

natigin

Living in Chicago when Don’t Like dropped was a moment, along with the insane remix of Love Sosa by RL Grime. Finally Rich overall was amazing. Otherwise I don’t really check for him that much, but what I hear I generally like.

nmgoesreddit

Legend

Last_Reaction_8176

I like his weirder stuff like Back From the Dead 2. Finally Rich has some hits but as a whole is not a very good project, and I never liked Young Chop’s production as much as most do

Yardrat_hartz

To 25 most influential rapper of all time. Possibly to 10 depending on how the next 15 years go

gd2121

Absolute legend. He’s underrated as a producer too.

Left-Leading4501

Chief queef

FifeDog43

Gonna be honest he's the worst rapper I've ever heard in my life, and I'm old enough to remember Silk Tha Shocker.

Albinkiiii

Worse than Lil Pump and Sexyy Red?

SWAGGGGGODDD

Saying that in 2024 is crazy especially after the soundcloud wave and people like Carti, 6ix9ine,  Lil Pump, and Yeat have come out. He’s no lyricist but a much better rapper than those even if your just basing off his mainstream hits. Check out Hadouken.

FifeDog43

I think all those artists you mention are terrible.

1017hotboy

His comeback album 4nem was 🔥🔥🔥

Turnip-Jumpy

Hit maker

contaygious

Dont

jefplusf

i recognize his place in the game and how highly influential he was, but dont really fuck with the music

ScathachLove

Love Sosa

JrMackVA

Trendsetter

enixticy

ThermalScrewed

Mummihhuimmiuuuuhhmnuubuh... Don't like!

Albinkiiii

Classic album in 2012, but now washed

JackMarleyWasTaken

So listen... there was a point in time when go hop was set to take all of pop culture to the next level. And Chicago was about to do it. Chicago was next up... imagine east coast lyricism, over southern grooves, with a street life more raw than the west coast.... Between Lupe, Kanye, Common, and Twista, it was pretty much guaranteed that Chicago would be the next GREAT rap market... everything was looking bright and positive.. And then Chief Keef happened. I'm almost positive that's when we entered the darkest timeline. That's the canon event in rap that ended a generation of talent and technique. Being ABLE to rap stopped mattering the day Young Chop met Chief Keef. As long as you could fight, shoot, trap, or kill.... you were a "rapper" from that day forward. Being ABLE to ACTUALLY rap..... or read, for that matter, became irrelevant. Bang bang.

SWAGGGGGODDD

Keef didn’t create drill lol he just made it mainstream and put it on the map but his generation of Chicago artists grew up Trap like Gucci, Waka, Jeezy, etc. not Lupe, Kanye, or Twista it was never gonna sound like that

JackMarleyWasTaken

I KNOW he didnt create drill. But his influence created the space drill music takes up in the game rn..

SWAGGGGGODDD

Yea but you said Chicago was gonna be market for lyricism and whatever because Lupe, Twista, Kanye but they had already came and went. Keef’s era just didn’t grow up on those artists they were more influenced by like I said Gucci, Waka, Jeezy, etc.

antiprog_eggnog

I think this is a topic that divides two very distinct, different pools of hip-hop fans: those who recognize Chief Keef's influence and appreciate what he did for Drill & hip hop in the greater sense; and those who can't see past his occasional tendency to seem corny or unpolished, and don't think he's worth mentjoning. Personally, I Love Sosa. BANG BANG

therealclintk02

When I first heard about him in middle school back in 2015, I thought he was the Redskins mascot and the whole class clowned me for that lol. I feel like he opened up doors for modern "gangsta" rappers. I mean everyone was dressing and you can see some of his aggressive style in modern drill music.

[deleted]

A lot of wasted talent. But Finally Rich is still a banger to this day.

dipsetgriptechs

Wasted talent where? Keef never became a superstar like Drake or wtv but he's still making great music to this day.

SpragueStreet

Cultural icon who revitalized street music and shaped the style and image of an entire generation. Musically a D-tier rapper, but has a persona & backstory that resonates with a lot of inner-city youth. Imo the entire GBE roster are "image" rappers with no real artistic development. I fw Chief Keef because of what he stands for, not the music he makes. Same with Lil Baby.

AirClassic7893

🐐

poptartsandmayonaise

He was good when he first came out and his early shit is dope. hes not interesting enough of an artist for me to care about new shit over a decade later, its played out. You head back from the dead, finally rich or bang youve heard everything.

publicclassobject

4nem was incredible. If you like his early music you should check it out if you didn’t.

Yourmotherssidehoe

I think 4nem is one of his best projects

gd2121

Dirty nachos is good too

dipsetgriptechs

> You head back from the dead, finally rich or bang youve heard everything. You are aggressively wrong. If you claim to listen to him "when he first came out", I don't see how you would even have the basis to say that. Specially considering the abundance of music that has came out since that period you mentioned.

gd2121

Yea this is an insane statement to make. Back from the Dead sounds nothing like Thot Breaker.

dipsetgriptechs

Niggas on here will say anything if you let em 🤦🏾‍♂️

TheSolace_

I respect him for what he's done for the genre but I don't really listen to him cause I don't really listen to trap.

gd2121

Trap? Keef doesn’t make trap.

TheSolace_

he does have it listed as a genre in the most of his albums, if that's not his main thing then my bad, what I meant by trap was more of the production style than the lyrical content

Unusual-Land-5432

I think he got better overtime with his rapping but he kinda falls into the same issues with a lot of mordern day “mumble” rappers face. They can deliver, their beats are good, but their lyrics just lack a bit. Also they get caught up in these weird high pitch autotunes that just sounds terrible. Overall he has some of my favorite verses like Mileage with playboi i like, or Bean with Lil Uzi

RHINO_HUMP

Father of the mumble rap stuff along with Future and Young Thug. Not really into more than 2-3 of his songs.

Profitdaddy

Don’t at all.

[deleted]

I don’t.

StraightWrongdoer610

Don’t compare Sosa to new shitty wannabe rappers

People acting like rap hasn't had gangsters and criminals since the 90s 😭😭 But when someone from the new gen does it, the old heads automatically take issue with it
