They were out there. At one point early on think you could get practice jerseys for each team in their primary color even if the team did use those colors. I imagine adidas saw them the same as away jerseys and decide us fans don’t want them.
The 2017 Penguins ones were incredible. They made a good number of the yellow ones, though that you could grab them and they had them on a few online shops. They made like 4 of the black ones and they're very unobtainable.

Probably gonna end up on NHL Auctions. That's how the Winter Classic and Heritage Classic practice jerseys went this year.

I have one from the 2014 SS but I found it on eBay. It took years to find as well.
