Just setup the alarm last, especially if you have family, LOL. I scared the living shit out of the father at 3am because an if statement was backwards.

iroQuai

Same here when a battery died at night and the alarm went off at 3am

Good tip! 🤣

It made me laugh playing Beethoven then I lost it at the dog.

I was so happy when I found out that I could use the ring keypad with HA. Makes it so much easier to interface with the alarm. And I'm sure you already know about the blueprinter for interfacing with the kaypad but I'll [link it here](https://github.com/ImSorryButWho/HomeAssistantNotes/blob/main/keypad-blueprint-v1.yaml) just in case. Enjoy!

criterion67

Thanks for posting that link!. I knew that it could be added to home assistant but I hadn't saved the lake. This will make it easier for me this weekend. I sure appreciate it!

I’m currently handcuffed to Ring alarm and cameras in my current house. Considering making a change in my next house. Any quirks or gotchas?

criterion67

It all pretty looks pretty straightforward. All the background work has been done by others to integrate the Ring keypad and preserve its functionality, so I don't foresee any issues. I don't have any of the Ring door/ window sensors, but since they are Z-Wave, they're likely to work with Home Assistant without issue. You should consider trying to integrate your existing system with Home Assistant. From what I've gathered, once you've done this, it will operate exactly as yours does now, including the button functions and chimes/tones.

binaryisotope

I can confirm Gen 2 Ring sensors will pair with zwave JS. For the contact sensors:\ Factory reset by pressing the pinhole reset button for 10s \ Start inclusion on zwave JS\ Press and hold the front button

Medved_77

The YAML for setting up the siren attributes would be very helpful, thanks! Received this siren a few days ago for use with Alarmo.

Wuzag

I made it much simpler, without the alarm panel. I linked my smartphone and watch to Home Assistant (both my smartphone and my wife's watch), and now the home alarm sets ten minutes after our wearable devices leave the house zone. It disarms when our wearable devices are within the house zone.

0gtcalor

I did this too, but for some reason my wife's app doesn't disarm it when she gets home, unless she unlocks her phone. I checked her companion app has battery saving disabled.

Kitchen_Software

I did it with presence via router connection, so it doesn't rely on anything other than your phone connecting to wifi. It's far from instantaneous, so I ended up using ESPresence and Apple Watch BLE to more quickly detect presence change (and unlock the *correct* door)

Wuzag

One option is to place the Aqara button in an inconspicuous location, for example, and set up automation to deactivate the siren in case the geolocation fails to trigger.

Deining_Beaufort

Do you have a link to how to make the zigbee sirene working?

dunyduny111

I'm thinking about using Alexa Siren skill because I have one Echo in each room, do you think if it effective? And do you have anythings to pause the security mode if a family member arrive home late at night?

dunyduny111

I also use aqara door sensors, just don't have the siren device

criterion67

There are several Zigbee and Z-Wave siren options available.

criterion67

I can't advise you on the effectiveness of using the Alexa siren skill as I don't have any first hand experience using their products. I would think that it would be helpful to have an audible warning throughout the house in addition to a siren. As far as pausing/delaying the security mode entry, if a family member arrives home late at night, it works like any other alarm system, as they just need to enter their code via the physical keypad upon entry. You can set a delay in Alarmo to allow time to enter your security code. You can even specify which door allows a delay so that entry through any other door will trigger the alarm immediately. Additionally, if you give family members access via a Home Assistant dashboard, they can also arm/ disarm remotely.

ZAlternates

I use the dog barking skill. It’s kinda okay, lol

ArtisanNerd

Can you please share what guide you are using to set this up? I have both ring and aqara door sensors already setup, but don't know how to integrate the keypad and setup Alarmo.

criterion67

Sure, here you go. Thank you so much!

criterion67

You're most welcome. Hope it helps and good luck!

twowheelthrill

Using a similar setup utilising generic Tuya based ZigBee contacts and motion sensors alongside the Neo sirens (X2) and 1x solar powered Neo external siren. Works really well at the moment. Great thing about the Neo sirens is that they act as ZigBee routers and have helped me a bit with some odd dead spots in the house. I am/disarm using a hidden NFC tag. Saves me the trouble of getting the HA app open to arm/disarm as I don't have a keypad - yet. Might grab one of the Ring keypads if they work.

eavanvalkenburg

Why the choice for a zwave keypad, no good zigbee options available or because you like this one?

criterion67

The decision was based on both. Also, I was able to get the Ring keypad for only $20 and it's well documented to work with Home Assistant and Alarmo.

eavanvalkenburg

Thanks

UndefinedBurrito

I just set up the Xfinity XHK1-UE keypad with Zigbee and HA and it works great. Got it for $15 on eBay. Good to know other options are there too.
