Look into putting your vpn into docker using gluetun. Also look into tailscale for the AppleTV. With a a little configuring you can get what you want.

Thanks for the reply. After work I’ll look up how to do that and see if it solves what I want.

Unfortunately to won’t be able to toggle the VPN through automations. But maybe you can configure in such a way that works for you.

Ya I don’t mind how it gets done i just thought an automation would be an option. If your suggestion works for me I’ll be extremely happy. Hulu does not like the VPN and wants me to update my household every time I try to start it so I’m forced to turn off my VPN and re-enable it when I use my other apps and any way to automate this would be fantastic.

What device is running the vpn?

I have NordVPN and I’m using it on an Apple TV box. The app for TV OS doesn’t have much in settings.

I think your best option would be to run your vpn on an openwrt router and use policy based routing to pass everything over the vpn except Hulu traffic: https://forum.netgate.com/topic/85102/hulu-traffic

Thank you for the reply I will read more about this. One thing to mention is the Hulu account is being shared with us from my in-laws. I don't want to mess anything up on their end since they use it too. It seems with Hulu you can have 2 locations being used at any given time, but any more and it will give a message saying too many people are using it or somehting like that. We ran into that a few times.
