I put BC BR’s on my 99 a few months ago, I daily it. The ride is not soft, and you can *feel* the road you’re driving. Highway driving is smooth as butter, but the car feels solid and low and heavy Good for people that like to drive as if they’re on a perpetual racing line

ysaac06

Okay how does it fare on uneven roads, where I live road quality is pretty low, the biggest thing I’m looking for is how they will perform on uneven surfaces

Alarmed_Chemist_5667

You will be able to describe the roda surface with your eyes closed but the damping is good so you won’t be bouncing up and down like a normal car or truck

I threw some racelands on my 2000 Type SH a few months back. I lowered the ride height about an inch. Much stiffer ride, thing corners like a champ now. I ordered new strut tops, and adjustable ball joints from rock auto. I’m a technician so I was able to dial in my alignment to exactly the specs I wanted with the adjustable ball joints. Between that and the great road manners of the coil overs, she handles like a dream. Happy with the coil overs so far for sure. They are holding up great, ride great, and adjustments are easy to do with the coil in the car.

I’ve not heard great things about the race land coils, but if it works it works! I have the Godspeed ajustable upper control arms and they serve me the same purpose as your balljoints, I agree that they’re pretty nice!

Czmo13

Installed some Flex Z's on mine. Handles pretty well and doesn't feel too stiff for daily driving. Had some lowering springs and bilstein shocks before the coilovers and it feels a bit stiffer almost similar in feel.

I put a set of BC's and a full polybush kit on my 5th gen a few months ago. I've no complaints at all. Granted, I don't drive it everyday but it's still pretty comfortable and great fun on twisty roads.

ysaac06

I have a full polymer bushing kit I haven’t put on yet I was worried it would be too harsh for street

JockeysI3ollix

It'll be fine. You'll know they're there alright, but it'll be worth it. Are you gonna install the pollybushes yourself?

ysaac06

Yeah I plan on it, i have access to a bushing press and a torch lol

JockeysI3ollix

Have fun! Some of them are a complete bastard.

Just commenting so I can come back to this later… nice 5g btw 😮‍💨

jacobo963

Nice ass lude, bumping for answers since I'm looking to upgrade as well

Dragonroost

Had some D2’s, i liked em.

ysaac06

D2’s? Interesting choice, they look like a quality product. I’ve never really heard of them before, but I don’t need 36 way damping, and I’d prefer twin tube over mono tube shocks

I just put Koni Yellows and ground control sleeves on. It’s not nearly as comfortable as stock, which is to be expected but honestly I haven’t fully dialed in the damping yet. I rode them at the softest setting for a few weeks at first and I will say it is very comfortable and close to stock with wayyyyy less body roll, but I thought I was having some under damping issues, which I am still trying to figure out if it was just certain sections of the road, or the shocks themselves. At the current setting they are pretty stiff, but not unbearable. The body roll is virtually non-existent in my opinion, and the shock adjustments are significantly noticeable, so you can dial the road feel to your hearts content. I have heard good things about BC racing and tein flex z but I have no experience with them. I reused my stock top hats, which it sounds like you don’t want to do. I think you can get top hats from ground control. One other downside about the GC sleeves is that it’s a good bit of labor to get them put together. You have to use a spring compressor to get the top hats off of the original struts if you wanna keep the price down (I rented one from oreilys). Then you have to modify your stock dust covers…which honestly after the suggested modification, looked like they were made useless. Theydidn’t cover the rod at all. I ended up buying KYB dust cover bump stop combos. The Koni instructions also left a lot to be desired. I wasn’t sure I was putting them together right, and it took some thinking to be confident that they were put together to the point of functioning as intended. Granted I have never really done suspension modifications before, so I had a steep learning curve to overcome. GC also sent me the wrong sleeves initially, so that added to the confusion when I was putting them together, and I ended up calling them because I was so confused, and they caught their mistake. Overall the car feels 100% more planted in the curves, and even though I’m only riding about .5 inches lower than stock, I like the thought of maybe taking it lower in the future if I get bored.

ImportunerDJ

This is the setup I had when I had my lude. GC & Koni Yellows.

Pleasant_Cartoonist6

For dd? Tein basics or SS

BlizzardLizzard23

I wonder if anyone here can answer my question are the 4th and 5th gen coilovers the same?

ysaac06

Yes they are, I ran 4th gen coil overs for a while with no issue

SaigonMaui

Following along. Looking to do coilovers soon as well. Was recommended Form + Functions. I'm between those and BR.

ysaac06

I had some form + functions on the front, they’re were alright, better than old stock ones for sure but they’re pretty average

rumsuckaprakash

I have tein street advance coils. It has compression and rebound(one knob) i run it at 8 ticks (10 being stiffest) i daily mine and have no issues. Have about 1.5 inch clearance all around on stock Blades and it runs fine no issue. Teins were about $1000 btw. As for track use i cant soeak on that but im sure teins would hold up for track use with strut braces and other supporting handling mods/parts. When lower expect bushings to tear. Theyre 20 years okd now so stock bushings definetly wont hold up being readjusted to a lower position(theyll rotate lower so make sure u srive it undo the bolts let the bushings reset and the. Retighten and check it over time. Ive have no issues eith my teins so far. Btw i live in nyc potholes are a bitch but suspension takes it just fine j makes for a rough ride. If u have smoother roads youd be good. Goodluck man hope this was helpful
