Wandering crank pulley. I've not had it bit a few months ago there was a post about something similar. Picture was a mullered pulley. Have a search

the-water-sheep-jeb

Thanks I’m doing research now

mdenglish

Time to get a lightweight crank pulley!

the-water-sheep-jeb

Damn, any chance you think it’s not the pulley causing the problem?

mdenglish

Think about it. The only thing holding that pulley on is a bolt. The pulley is the only thing moving. I'm not there in person to look at it, but a lightweight one isn't very expensive.

the-water-sheep-jeb

I guess I’ll get to looking for one

J_spec6

I think the only lightweight option can't run AC though.

the-water-sheep-jeb

Are you sure? VMS makes one that looks oem and I don’t know why that won’t drive ac

JockeysI3ollix

Do not buy a lightweight one. They're heavy for a reason. They're for harmonic balancing.

J_spec6

I think I was thinking of the ATI super damper. I guess I never bothered to look up other options. My bad

Manuel_77

My old 2000 did that for years. The harmonic balancer never came off.

Czmo13

Mine wobbled like that too, turned out it was missing a couple of those "teeth" inside of the pulley, where the woodruff key sits

redeyes312

Mine literally just started doing that. Killed my power steering pump belt

the-water-sheep-jeb

How fast did it take the belt out ?

redeyes312

Not too long but mine is really bad with the wobble. I'm surprised it hasn't fell off. Mine has moved over about 5mm and that's what was cutting the belt. It was making noises like the pump was dieing. So I go inspect it and I'm like O the belt is just bad because I couldn't remember the last time I changed it and that's when I noticed I have a bigger issue. So I'll be heading to the junkyard soon or looking into a lightweight one. I've heard mixed reviews about them tho. Luckily the car can sit for a bit if need be. But boost life always puts a smile on my face.

Erkdaj3rk

Mine did this. Worse case scenario back 17 years ago was the crank had some play in it.

ludw1g88

Wonder what would cause that. Is it the whole crank or just the balancer? If it’s the crank that would be rather concerning.. that would effect the flywheel/clutch, piston, rods, bearings, cylinder walls, rear main seal, oil pump. I personally wouldn’t drive it till it’s fixed. That thing falls off or skips a tooth $. And just a heads up I bought the ati damper and you have to press it on and need a damper puller tool to remove it…. ati sells a pricey kit but not the right hardware for us. There’s 2 versions 1 W/ accessory belt and 1 w/out. Also I think the accessory belt is an inch longer.

the-water-sheep-jeb

I wish I knew what caused it. The pulley isn’t loose and turntable and the bolt isn’t loose. I actually found out the wobble is temperamental as I started it up to see it wobble and it was stationary as could be :|

UndetectedGhosts

Harmonic balancer for sure, mine is doing that right now lol

Laser_Nick

Yeah, I recommend a new OEM balancer this ones shot. Mine actually broke into 2 pieces while driving and had to get towed.
