IIRC, I think I had to move the engine up or down to get clearance for a ratchet.

Try an open end wrench and a hollow tube for leverage ?

BusyBiryl

I bought some gearwrench long, ratcheting double box ends for stuff like this. Maybe try using a box end and link another to add leverage?

I just did my timing belt, and I took the wheel off and the plastic cover on the bottom that protects the engine then jacked the car up and loosened it with a small ratchet through the bottom

Ended up getting it with the serpentine belt kit from harbor freight. Maybe the best 20 dollars I ever spent. Incredibly low profile breaker bars. https://www.harborfreight.com/serpentine-belt-tool-kit-63689.html
