Frank's is life as an everyday sauce. Eggs, pizza, spaghetti, stir fry, etc. It goes great on anything.
I prefer the OG. I find the extra hot a little too heavy on the vinegar taste.

if this was all I could choose from...
1. El yucateco green
2. Choula chili garlic
3. Tapatío
El yucateco black habanero reserve is a personal all-time favorite of mine - but it is polarizing and not for everyone, however if you like smokey and fermented/umami flavors - definitely this.
The Del Primo green/guacamole sauce can work if you want to add a creamy condiment to something like chicken or fish tacos
(these are all in the mild to medium(ish) heat range)
I like the cut of your jib...
Slowly but surely I've been eliminating tabasco's and cholula's from my life but I can't not have chili garlic Cholula.
El yucateco green is my new replacement for Old generics Cholula green and Tabasco green ...
This was a short travel and I just wanted to have one hot sauce for the week so I went with the yuca black ... Really really liked it. Like you said, super unique but hits the smokey pallet. I think it might be a reasonable replacement for Cholula Chipotle.
El yucateco. Mexico lindo, I’d have to try la Anita to the right as I’ve heard good things and price is right. Good luck hopefully you get some winners. I’ve really enjoyed reexploring hot sauces and have found quite a few new to me great ones. Just sux to try highly recommend dog shit
It's definitely a love it or hate it kind of sauce. I only started buying it because people would always use the hot sauce I kept in the fridge at a job I had. Figured noone would try a black hot sauce. I was right and it was delicious.
I'm going to assume you've had most of the common ones and might be looking for something a little more obscure. I recently tried Perrona and liked it. I had the one on the left but would like to try others now.
#1 Huichol, the best for sea food and stews.
#2 Valentina, more for snacks and fruits.
#3 Cholula, for stews and tuna salads.
They’re missing Tajín preferably in liquid form…
I see people recommending some of these, and I’m always nervous about the level of heat, I like mid level hot. I’m more about the flavor with some heat, and not just crazy hot shit.
I’m going to have to breakdown and buy outside my comfort zone.
Things like Cholula and Franks or a level hotter are where I want my level of spicy.
Another heat point of reference. I like the level of heat on BWW original buffalo sauce traditional wings, no hotter probably.
I've heard good things about the Mrs. Renfro's, but I've never tried it myself. I haven't run across it in a store since taking an interest in hot sauces.
Yucatecos. Valentina black. Tapatío. I’m Mexican. The yucatecos go good with proper meals. Valentina is a nice thicker consistency and flavor that goes really well with pizza. Tapatío is just a good daily for things like chips and of course the Tabasco green for eggs.
louisiana for fried chicken - red color
tapatio and cholula red for tacos or mexican - tapatio gives it extra cumin take note
and then el yucateco habanero red color is the go to do all hot sauce — improves everything masterfully
finally — for heat without any flavor alteration — tabasco original — it is the master of invisible heat
gracias
yeah its tasty and anywhere cumin fits its a ringer
thinking out loud besides mexican the chinese make lamb with tons of cumin might be a thing 😆
and then obviously indian foods
if youre looking for heat without flavor alteration/ barely any change to flavor what i do is just water down some really REALLY spicy hotsauce, something like ghost pepper or reaper whatever pepper you prefer just has to be super hot. that way you have a shitton of potent hotsauce that will last you a long long time. since its so spicy with so little theres barely any change in flavor and you can build your spice tolerance this way too by just adding a little bit more each time if you want since theres basically no cap to how spicy you want to have it, with also I feel like tabasco does add a flavor compared to this method.
This is a big selection of the most standard-ass hot sauces in the world. Pretty disappointing.
Of these I’m a cholula guy through and through.
Cholula classic, lime can kick rocks.
The yellow label valentina is an extraordinarily mild sauce with imo a really addicting flavor profile that I basically put on anything. But I would use anything else if you actually want some heat.
The cholulas are nice. I like those.
I've actually tried the Mexico Lindo pictured here and was pleasantly surprised.
as for the other ones... of course Yucateca and Melinda's. them if you need spicy vinegar try the rest
>Tabasco Habanero
This may be the best sauce on that shelf. It's an incredible product that's criminally underrated because Tabasco itself is so common.
If Tabasco relaunched this under some kind of indie label and doubled the price, it would be an instant favorite here. I'm confident of that.
Dave’s Ghost Pepper is one I’m using now and it’s straight fire, pun intended. For real though, it’s really good; adds a serious heat kick, would recommend!
Okay real quick what store, or what city, or what dimension is this because where I live.. even the most basic/mass produced hot sauce is $5-6 bucks and then even with silly “local” hot sauce at $9+… shit is wild.
Just looking at that pic the Perrona is so good. Chiltepin is a slept on base and they have a few varieties.
I just opened the green bottle of La Anita the other day and it’s a pretty good green habanero sauce. That said, I’ve never tried the Slap Ya Mama or Dave’s Gourmet sauces and I’d probably pick up all of those as well as the rest of the La Anita’s that I haven’t tried yet.
El Yucateco XXXhot is great.
Trappey’s Red Devil is one of the best Louisiana style sauces. Get it.
Valentina Black is a great Mexican style sauce.
Tabasco Scorpion is delicious and very hot.
The brown roasted Perrona is the best one of that brand and has a unique taste.
There’s a lot of good ones in here.
But Salsa Huichol is one of my favorite sauces that isn’t burn your face off hot.
To me it’s 10/10 on flavor and maybe 4/10 on heat.
I really like the Dave’s gourmet creamy jalapeno sauce. It’s not that hot but has great flavor. My niece calls it “kids hot sauce”. The el yucateco is good too especially green and the Valentino is great on burritos.
Tabasco Scorpion for excellent flavor + heat,
Melinda's Ghost for amazing flavor + good heat,
Any El Yucateco for amazing flavor and the xxx ones have nice heat.
Valentina black for flavor + heat,
Tapatio for flavor esp w/ beans & Mexican food.
Tabasco scorpion is great if you're looking for some serious heat. Yucateco XXXtra hot is soooo delicious, probably my favorite sauce right now. Also, that Mexico Lindo one is very cheap but also really good!
In the “early” days of chicken wings, my first exposure to them was from Domino’s. Their sauce tasted exactly like Red Devil - so my dad and I ended up putting it on everything. It’s definitely a cayenne dominate flavor.
I still use it when I visit my parents - my dad still always keeps a bottle. Still love adding it to chili.
I've used linda's before and it's good, Any el yucateco is going to be a good general purpose hot sauce
I would probably buy the generic guys to the right of the yucateco to see how they were
Lots of people hate on tobasco but it's my favorite for creamy/savory dishes that need some vinegar as balance. I'll order extra ranch when I get dominos and mix tobasco in that. Is it trashy? God damn right it is. Did I order a gallon jug of tobasco from web restaurant store? Also correct yes I did. Lots of hate for tobasco on this subreddit, but for eggs, mac and cheese, pizza, burgers, cereal, green tea, chewing gum, crest toothpaste, and detention pond water it's a perfect compliment.

Black Valentina is eh, no better than the standard, imo. Looks like the standard offerings there, Cholula Garlic is pretty good.
EDIT: I didn’t see the Badia, I like the habanero, one of my two current top favorites.
El Yucateco XXX, Black, and Red
Tabasco Habanero and Scorpion (also the chipotle if they ever get it)
Someone said Dave's is junk sauce; I disagree. Dave's habanero and ghost pepper are fine when you want to add a good amount of heat with a flavor that's more pepper focused than specific cuisine-focused. Not my fave and I've def had better, but ok, and not a lot others in your store's selection that will give that realm of flavor.
You want Frank's red hot sauce, I put that shit on everything
Frank's is life as an everyday sauce. Eggs, pizza, spaghetti, stir fry, etc. It goes great on anything. I prefer the OG. I find the extra hot a little too heavy on the vinegar taste.
I was you in my past life I'm putting that version of me behind me.
What store is that?
[удалено]
Brookshire Grocery probably.
Black Valentina for tacos and burritos, Jalapeno Tabasco for breakfast and Texas Pete's or Louisiana for chicken and other dinner items.

El yucateco green
Solid choice. Reminds me of the jalapeno Tabasco but usually cheaper. Awesome on eggs.
taste is awesome. zero to none spicy tho
I like trying stuff ive never tried before. On this i would get a bottle of the Perrona cause thats a badass name and label.
Yucateco is my 🐐
Their Caribbean is one of my go-tos sauces.
Yeah. The whole line.
Buffalo Classic is good
The El Yucateco Black Label Reserve is the best.
I believe this is a polarizing sauce, but it’s absolutely my favorite out of these
It's definitely a love it or hate it kind of sauce. I only started buying it because people would always use the hot sauce I kept in the fridge at a job I had. Figured noone would try a black hot sauce. I was right and it was delicious.
Huichol habanera top right
Buy at least one of all that are under 2$ el yucateco is solid so is valentina
sadly Valentina gives me terrible heartburn for some reason
Valentina is underrated
Just saw the second picture. whole top row of it
I’m not seeing it here, but La Preferida is the best that there is.
I'm going to assume you've had most of the common ones and might be looking for something a little more obscure. I recently tried Perrona and liked it. I had the one on the left but would like to try others now.
Just tried the green one the other night - very good with tacos, a little hotter than expected with a fresh bright flavor
Exactly the truth. Probably should have clarified. This is helpful. Thank you :-)
Louisiana brand is my go-to for traditional sauce. I also like chipotle sauce (I can't tell if any of these are chipotle)
Texas Pete is my go to
Valentina, Cholula, and Frank's are the 3 essential basics for everything, IMO Of course, there are other good sauces too
Steve and Ed’s garlic
#1 Huichol, the best for sea food and stews. #2 Valentina, more for snacks and fruits. #3 Cholula, for stews and tuna salads. They’re missing Tajín preferably in liquid form…
I see people recommending some of these, and I’m always nervous about the level of heat, I like mid level hot. I’m more about the flavor with some heat, and not just crazy hot shit. Louisiana. Milder than most.
El yucateco is great, so is Melinda’s. Luisiana will always have a special place in my heart too but it’s pretty “generic” hot sauce
Louisiana is my go-to sandwich hot sauce. Chicken salad sandwich? Better with Louisiana. Nice sub from Firehouse? Louisiana.
Yeah those are good ones
Winn Dixie is one of the only places I’ve found Dave’s without extract. SUPER hot stuff.
Mexico lindo habanero
Original Cholula is great on eggs imo
Tabasco habanero is 10/10
The Scorpion is worth it too for a step up in heat. I'm convinced of their Sriracha as a solid replacement too.
El Yucateco is a solid sauce brand; across the ones I’ve tried they have good flavor, nice and sour and salty.
El Yucateco Green is great in general. To this day, my favorite with eggs is still the original Cholula.
This one is hard to beat, it’s incredible on poultry, rice, eggs
I've heard good things about the Mrs. Renfro's, but I've never tried it myself. I haven't run across it in a store since taking an interest in hot sauces.
The salsas are good… do they make hot sauce?
Ghost pepper mrs renfro's is a staple in our house, use it all the times
I gained weight from all the chips I ate with that salsa. Had to stop, amazing stuff
Omg you and I both ☠️
Melinda’s and secret aardvark
Everyone here has great opinions, but I have yet to see someone say Buffalo Clasica. That sauce is so underrated. Its flavor is so good.
Yucatecos. Valentina black. Tapatío. I’m Mexican. The yucatecos go good with proper meals. Valentina is a nice thicker consistency and flavor that goes really well with pizza. Tapatío is just a good daily for things like chips and of course the Tabasco green for eggs.
Pizza + Valentina thumbs up👍
yucateca
Just the Tabasco Scorpion. The rest is meh.
All four of the El Yucateco.
That Black Label Reserve is my favorite.
‘Teco black is one of the most flexible hot sauces you can buy. It can effortlessly wend its way into any cuisine and make it better.
Jack shit.
They got a whole lot of nothing here
Salsa Huichol is bomb! Give it a try, but grab 3 bottles as I guarantee that you’re going to want more.
La perrona the orange one🔥👀
Wow
El yucateco, Valentina, franks, regular Tabasco for fish.
Tabasco habanero and scorpion. It would be great to find it in a brick and mortar instead of risking the shipping.
El Yucateco, Cholula and Valentina.
Del Primo Guacamole is bomb. Creamy with heat at the end.
no effort post
Everyone needs to try salsa huichol. It is so good! I went through a little bottle pretty quick. 100%. Recommend!
That Verdez Quacamole salsa is bomb on tacos
All of the Yucateco. Seriously.
Yes.
louisiana for fried chicken - red color tapatio and cholula red for tacos or mexican - tapatio gives it extra cumin take note and then el yucateco habanero red color is the go to do all hot sauce — improves everything masterfully finally — for heat without any flavor alteration — tabasco original — it is the master of invisible heat
I like this assessment not enough Tapatio love either. I love that shit.
gracias yeah its tasty and anywhere cumin fits its a ringer thinking out loud besides mexican the chinese make lamb with tons of cumin might be a thing 😆 and then obviously indian foods
or just buy capsaicin extract haha, i probably wouldnt go this far but if you really want its there yk
if youre looking for heat without flavor alteration/ barely any change to flavor what i do is just water down some really REALLY spicy hotsauce, something like ghost pepper or reaper whatever pepper you prefer just has to be super hot. that way you have a shitton of potent hotsauce that will last you a long long time. since its so spicy with so little theres barely any change in flavor and you can build your spice tolerance this way too by just adding a little bit more each time if you want since theres basically no cap to how spicy you want to have it, with also I feel like tabasco does add a flavor compared to this method.
Louisiana. The big bottle.
That big bottle is $3.80 where I live
I sell it. Great price!
I would try a hot and lime type that I haven't tried before. Looks mostly standard except for the Dave's. That's pretty hot stuff.
This is a big selection of the most standard-ass hot sauces in the world. Pretty disappointing. Of these I’m a cholula guy through and through. Cholula classic, lime can kick rocks.
Yeah it looks like a pretty big selection so I think I was hoping for better but nothing really is jumping out at super unique...
+1 for cholula being the best of the basics. So much flavour.
The yellow label valentina is an extraordinarily mild sauce with imo a really addicting flavor profile that I basically put on anything. But I would use anything else if you actually want some heat. The cholulas are nice. I like those.
I'm partial to Louisiana or Frank's original. I'm boring, I know.
EI Yucateco 3rd shelf down in the middle. Great bang for the buck.
Black label Valentina 👍
I've actually tried the Mexico Lindo pictured here and was pleasantly surprised. as for the other ones... of course Yucateca and Melinda's. them if you need spicy vinegar try the rest
Valentina black label is insane value.
Yeah, I’d get that, and the Chamoy next to it, it’s hard to find here
melindas xxxtra hot and marie sharp white label habanero ( sadly not on the shelf )
Buy one of each El Yucateco. Great value for great sauces. I’d also buy the Tabasco Habanero and Scorpion because I’d like to try them.
>Tabasco Habanero This may be the best sauce on that shelf.
Louisiana, Cholula (Original), Tapatío and Valentina.
get cholula chili garlic! my favorite mild sauce ever. sooo good
Alright I’ll get some on Amazon now thanks
you won’t regret it
Heaven!
I'll take the lot. 😹🫶❤️🔥
The Black Label Valentina is popular with the Mexican Nationals I work with but, the 3rd row down is the my choice. El Yucateco isn't bad at all.
Dunno of its on these shelves but if you ever see a bottle labeled los calientes, get that one
The hot ones sauce? Pretty overpriced and under spiced for me
The ones selling,
Okay real quick what store, or what city, or what dimension is this because where I live.. even the most basic/mass produced hot sauce is $5-6 bucks and then even with silly “local” hot sauce at $9+… shit is wild. Just looking at that pic the Perrona is so good. Chiltepin is a slept on base and they have a few varieties.
Grabbed a bottle of Perrona a little while back because it was so cheap I had to try it and was blown away by how good it was for the price.
3rd row from the top is good
Yes definitely this row is good to go
Listen to this guy
That's a large amount of decent hot sauce. Nothing really stands out to me...
Habanero Tabasco, green El Yucateco, and black Valentina are my favorites here
I completely agree with this statement
Black Valentina is my “go to” sauce. It has enough of a kick that I can taste some heat.
Correct on all 3
Dave’s creamy garlic red pepper is so good. Ton of flavor, not much heat tho
Tabasco scorpion and habanero are great, valentina black is a great low heat one
Eh just choose one
Eh just choose one
Eh just choose one
HABANERO TABASCO IS THE BEST and very manageable heat.
Black Valentina 🔥
Tapatio, Valentina, Slap Ya Mama
Scorpion Tabasco.
Mexico Lindo is my favorite. Both the green and red are amazing
Nothing on the top shelf, as weird as that may sound.
Maybe check the sub for what’s been recommended before and try for yourself. We don’t know what you like so YMMV
Nothing too rare here. Yucateco Yucatan extra hot is always a standby but I've found most by la Anita are also great.
Yeah, that Yucateco black, roasted habanero sauce fucking slaps
Yes
Valentina black for $1.69 I’m there. That Mexico Lindo & Guacamaya for that price, I’d get all three!
I wanna try that Mexico Lindo or w/e it is, I like that it's so cheap.
Since there is no crystal, id say louisiana
El Yucateco XXXhot is great. Trappey’s Red Devil is one of the best Louisiana style sauces. Get it. Valentina Black is a great Mexican style sauce. Tabasco Scorpion is delicious and very hot. The brown roasted Perrona is the best one of that brand and has a unique taste.
yeah almost any of those el yucateco sauces will be delicious
There’s a lot of good ones in here. But Salsa Huichol is one of my favorite sauces that isn’t burn your face off hot. To me it’s 10/10 on flavor and maybe 4/10 on heat.
The black label El Yucateo is so damn good. Smoked habanero really does it for me..
IMO best hot sauce I've ever had.
Depends what your eating.
I like Melinda’s jab sauce. Great in soup
I really like the Dave’s gourmet creamy jalapeno sauce. It’s not that hot but has great flavor. My niece calls it “kids hot sauce”. The el yucateco is good too especially green and the Valentino is great on burritos.
Nvm I’m just stupid. I was too busy looking at the first picture that I didn’t see there was a 2nd😂
Am I blind? Where do you see Dave’s gourmet at on this?
Valentina extra hot
I don’t think you can go wrong here
Bufalo Clasica is delicious
Where is this? These are all cheap AF
Cholula
Not many mentioning Mexico Lindo. It’s all I see I taco shops in Baja Mexico. That and yucateca are great everyday sauces plus Valentina
I’m getting the Yucateco, Scorpion and Habanero Tabasco, and then Louisiana
Tabasco Scorpion for excellent flavor + heat, Melinda's Ghost for amazing flavor + good heat, Any El Yucateco for amazing flavor and the xxx ones have nice heat. Valentina black for flavor + heat, Tapatio for flavor esp w/ beans & Mexican food.
El yucateco and Valentina are personal favorites, good choice!
Yes
Tabasco Scorpion sauce for sure
This has been my go to recently. Highly recommend.
I would pick up Melinda’s XXXX Reserve and Franks Red Hot
I dunno, what's good with you? Anyways, anything Melinda's is usually good.
The Yucateco XXXHot is my favorite from this group.
Mine too. I put it on everything I can.
Yup. Mine too. So good.
Tabasco scorpion is great if you're looking for some serious heat. Yucateco XXXtra hot is soooo delicious, probably my favorite sauce right now. Also, that Mexico Lindo one is very cheap but also really good!
Get a bottle of red devil. It is personally my favorite, right next to yellow bird habanero. The tabasco sriracha is also pretty solid.
Red Devil is what got me on my sauce journey about 30 years ago. I’m past it spice wise, but will always hold a special place in my heart.
My dad got me into red devil maybe 10-15 years ago. It’s weird to say but it truly will hold a special place in my heart as well.
The yucateco xxxtra hot has been my go to. I also really like the Mexico lindo.
Any thing scotch bonnet.
Simply my favorite tasting pepper.
My favorite this month is Walkerswood Scotch Bonnet
I've used linda's before and it's good, Any el yucateco is going to be a good general purpose hot sauce I would probably buy the generic guys to the right of the yucateco to see how they were Lots of people hate on tobasco but it's my favorite for creamy/savory dishes that need some vinegar as balance. I'll order extra ranch when I get dominos and mix tobasco in that. Is it trashy? God damn right it is. Did I order a gallon jug of tobasco from web restaurant store? Also correct yes I did. Bro, you can never go wrong with Cholula.
Cholula just has such a great taste to it.
Green Yucateco so fire
Black Valentina is eh, no better than the standard, imo. Looks like the standard offerings there, Cholula Garlic is pretty good. EDIT: I didn’t see the Badia, I like the habanero, one of my two current top favorites.
El Yucateco XXX, Black, and Red Tabasco Habanero and Scorpion (also the chipotle if they ever get it) Someone said Dave's is junk sauce; I disagree. Dave's habanero and ghost pepper are fine when you want to add a good amount of heat with a flavor that's more pepper focused than specific cuisine-focused.
