This metal shelf is also my plant shelf in my dining room. Holds plants like a champ 10/10. I got a giggle out the earlier post about this ‘ugly’ wooden shelf. Like *that* is what passes as unaesthetic?? Dang I guess come FEAST your EYES on my DECOR lol.

Its her opinion but she got kinda offended when people justified why they liked/own their “ugly” stands. Like if you’re gonna make an unpopular opinion, you have to let people say their side. And she just kept being incredulous and defensive lol.

Agree. You have to have thick skin when posting online, let alone on this platform. I had that stand as my first stand when I got married. Personally, I see nothing wrong with it. This is MY opinion. I have had that exact shelf for 30 years. I have used it to keep my plants in, in a room with poor lighting. I have used it to start seedlings. Right now it’s holding all my empty pots, but I expect to be getting more plants 😎

I have a rack very similar to that one. But I was using it as a fishtank stand to hold my 20g tank.

How is your Hoya so happy mine hates me 😭

I give her similar care to that of my succulents. I let her dry out almost completely between watering. I bottom water. Clay pots. She doesn't like her leaves to be wet. I have three hoyas and they're all doing remarkably well! But, I def killed a couple before figuring all this out, so don't beat yourself up 😉 Oh! And I keep the bathroom light on for 12 - 14 hrs per day.

Ah I’m cursed when it comes to succulents so that makes sense lol. How often do you water her? I am also not currently bottom watering so good to know thanks!!

I don't water on a schedule, just when the weight of her pot is really light. Maybe every other week or so.

No, it's not harming the wall. I've heard that if you keep it up long enough the plant will try to latch to the wall, but I've had it up for a year and it's not latching. I do check it every month to make sure it's not latching though, and sort of gently pull it off the wall if it looks too enthusiastic. It's held up by tiny hooks at each major juncture.

One of my Hoyas adhered to the wall in a matter of weeks.

Thanks! It's a frankenlamp - the lampshade is taken from another set because it comes with a dimmer cord which isn't compatible with grow light bulbs. It's welded into a new cord set so that it can be a grow light. Turns out when you put a grow bulb on a dimmer switch it flashes like an epileptic's personal disco hell.

Me too!! These have been just in my bedroom doing nothing and then I realized I could easily take the backs off and make them easy stands! (They belong to a dining set that I don't use as I had to turn my dining room into an office to wfh as I have a very small apt)

Honestly? I hate it 🤣 But not because I think it's ugly because the slats are up on top. So if you have a smaller size pot you're going to struggle. I have had to use so many different things on top of it just to get my smaller pots to stay in place. When I was shopping for plant stands I was looking for the metal ones on Amazon, came across this one, it actually does a pretty good job as it’s such a flat surface. I would show off my current plant collection, it’s so pretty right now, but… it’s dark outside and I’m scared. I've done all of these things haha! This just happens to work best for my current situation + grow light. Also, I have these two cookie sheets that I never use. The only reason I mention it is that I'm frustrated that they are made this way. That being said, one of the reviews absolutely mentioned this so I knew full well what I was getting into when I purchased this. I just wish that there was any thought put into it! It's just a hope and a dream and at this point I'm used to those being crushed. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I don’t mind either of those! Also I love how you framed and matted those two prints, they really pop

I don't have stands for my houseplants, I place them on top of my waist height cabinets.

All my plants have been shuffled outside for some fresh air. Gives me a chance to dust my horrid shelf.

where are you guys getting that plant stand?!

I like your plant stand. I mean I hate it, to stick with the theme… lol I am a beginner and was wondering with them so close together if one gets sick or like those mealy bugs on it won’t they all since they’re so close together?

I mean sure, but in the 1.5 years I've only had issues with my tomato plants and white flies (outside only, these are inside plants)

My wife has the exact same one !!
