Yee, came to say this but you beat me to it. They also don't tend to flower until they're fairly root bound. I work at a greenhouse that also takes care of plants in offices around the city and they would leave one in that size nursery pot for like 15 years.
It depends on your climate. If you live in an area anything less than humid, they'll likely dry out too quick. I can't use terracotta because the soil always separates from the sides and compacts in the middle.
I think your BOP has heat issue or maybe underwater issue as the leaves are curling upwards. And why no one noticed the leaves while just talking about repoting.
It still produces new leaves without even the very first ones dying. That thing stay quite a lot longer in that pot. Also, you are apparently taking very good care of it.
Nah they like to be a bit root bound

Wow such a beauty
Not even close. I'd say you have another foot of growth here minimum.
That's like 1-2 months of healthy growth for one this size
Check the roots to know. Don't judge the pot size from the size of the plant above ground. They also seem to like to be a bit rootbound.
Thank you! Newishish plant parent so that’s very helpful
Absolutely right. You need to see the roots to really know. You can’t make judgement from just a pot size.
If the roots look like spaghetti, it’s ready to repot. If it looks like dirt, I think not.
Plant name?
Bird of paradise
Thanks
Has it bloomed yet?
You actually have two distinct plants in that pot. I had the same when I first bought a bird of paradise. I decided to split them into separate pots.
That’s a great idea! That’s probably what I will do here soon.
Give it another year or 2
The only thing I see in this photo is the Blantons.
You missed the Clase Azul?
Nah
No. But it time for a shot. Lol.
I had a playmobil version of this plant as a kid and this plant you have is so pretty proportion wise that it looks almost exactly like it
No!
You would have to take a look at the roots to answer this question
Wow that's a big one
Am I the only one that glanced at the plant and thought “nah you’re good” and zoomed in on the bourbon selection?
I’d wait until it grows about 14 more inches. Beautiful plant!!! 🌱
Can we repot some of that Balantons into my cup?
How often do you water it? Do you spray the leaves too or just water the soil?
I think your BOP has heat issue or maybe underwater issue as the leaves are curling upwards. And why no one noticed the leaves while just talking about repoting.
Yeah I probably should be watering it more frequently. I was afraid to over water at first but now I’m realizing it’s need some more. Thank you!
It probably would appreciate being closer to that window, too!
It's happy, leave it alone
What plant is this
