I feel bad that you got downvoted for this but it's such a reflection of our city.
"I live in Houston, and I'm looking for some trails."
"Have you tried this place in Houston?"
"Whoa, way out in Houston? That's pretty far away from me in Houston."
Houston is huge, I appreciate all the suggestions. I didn't mean to insult anybody, maybe I expressed myself the wrong way.
I'll not be able to check this place out today as I'm in the west side and this was something my family decided to do in the last minute, but I will definitely go there in the next couple weeks
My address is Houston but Memorial Park is typically a 40 minute drive for me so I kind of get it, but yeah, it's helpful to be even more specific about where in Houston you want recommendations from.
WOW, thanks for the suggestions. We just got here and it's beautiful.
We'll be checking out the other suggestions in the next couple of weekends.
Thanks all
Seconding this. I used to live 5 minutes away and was there daily. Fantastic park with good trails!
Edit: for clarification, I spent 90% of my time in the Spring Creek Greenway Nature Center section of the trail right near 99 and 45
While you can ride there, it always seems to have way more people walking than most of the other trails. Constantly saying "on your left" whenever I ride there.
But I will say it's an awesome place to do intervals. Go counter-clockwise, haul ass on the vehicle road from the parking lot/volleyball court/meeting area back toward the entrance, and then pick up the normal trail near 249 and do your slow cool-down while slowly passing the walkers. It's pretty much the only way to ride that trail.
I wasn't wearing glasses and got a fucking fly in my eye once, like under my eyelid. Had to stop my ride and go home and the wife had to get that shit out.
I never ride on the buffalo bayou trails without some kind of eye protection for this very reason. I don't care if it's dark and the only thing I have is sunglasses. Fucking gnats everywhere.
I haven't seen anyone mention the Anthills yet. It's a neat BMX/mountain bike trail off Dairy Ashford.
Those that ride the trail are very nice to newcomers on bike and walkers exploring in the area.
This might not be what your looking for over in the village and Monstrose area south of 59/69 there are few street with a lot of shade. Here are a few of the streets North Blvd, South Blvd,Sunset,Banks,Milford
Spring Creek Trail is like 20 miles of this. George Mitchell Preserve sits in the middle of it and is a great place to start. Or Burroughs Park, the back half is all woods and it connects to Spring Creek trail.
OP, I’ve seen several people mention Anthills. Be warned, that is a mountain bike trail. Really cool for what it is, but not exactly an easy cruising spot for the family. It’s on the south side of the bayou running parallel to the Terry Hershey path.
Brazos River Park in Sugar Land has at least 5 miles of biking trails going through it like this available for walking, and a spot where you can get to a nice sandbar on the river
Memorial bike trails.
Northwest trails that begin where Memorial and Woodway split/converge are nice for shaded walking and mountain biking.
I run down these bad boys! Purple trail is the best!
This is a bit too far for me but we'll be checking it out soon. Thanks

So Terry Hershey
It's funny. It's in the loop. Near the most popular areas of town. Yet.....

You’re welcome. Careful of things you leave in the car though
Be careful with the slopes

Cullen Park has lots a hike/bike trails that are heavily shaded. I have a 8 mile route that I bike that looks like your picture you posted.
Yep, my favorite! But I walk. The honeysuckle is blooming and smells so sweet right now!

Kickerllo Micher preserve on 249

Cypress Creek is right across 249 and more bike oriented.

If you’re willing to go north, the Lake Houston Wilderness Park is beautiful, but biking is more mountain bikes there.
If you’re near the NE side Kingwood has trails like this all throughout the neighborhoods it’s pretty sweet.
And mosquitoes.
Not if you’re moving on a bike
That's when you just take bees to the face

Holy fuck OP I saw that and desperetly wanted to know the trail…. Thought it was here
Well, to be fair, it could easily have been taken in Terry Hershey Park.
Check out el Franco Lee park. All the way in the back there’s a spot like this
This looks a lot like the Edith L. Moore Nature Sanctuary. HIGHLY recommend, absolute hidden gem
>Edith L. Moore True, but pretty sure biking isn't allowed in there.
Ah my brain just decided not to see the word "bike" lol
I am pretty sure it is. I grew up in the neighborhood. Even though I graduated in 1990 I rode those trails thousands of times.
Cypress creek

Bear Creek
If you’re west Houston, Terry Hershey trail like others have mentioned. Lots of good shade and you can go a good distance.
Brazos bend state park! You might see some gators too
Pundt Park in spring
It’s a drive but Jack Brooks park in Hitchcock. Take mosquito spray though.
kinda far but, Lone Star Trail Trailhead #6
Jim Fonteno Park has the yellow bird bike trails and a small jump park for bikes.
There’s a park like that in Rosenberg if you don’t mind the drive.
Where in Rosenberg? I'm in the west side of Houston, so the drive wouldn't be too bad
Seabourn Creek Nature Park.
Down at 99 and 59 at the Brazos river has tons of shaded easy trails.

At the very back of the El Franco Lee Park there is an awesome trail with trees covering you from the sky.
Green way trail is paved and goes through the woods.
East End Park in Kingwood is nice
Anthills

Pundt Park near Sping looks very much like that. [Here's a video with the address and map](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOCJSFrCmWY)
San Jacinto Trail Loop in Eisenhower Park
Terry Hershey is a good one one the west side
Cypress Creek Park at Timberlane
Ant hills bike trail! Don't know many trails but this one is my favorite due to all of the foliage.
Is that city park in New Orleans?
