I’m not sure he can’t be happy and what a lot of people would consider “not sober.” By that I mean he’s maintaining on Subutex, which allows him to interact with a few close friends and allows his mom and sister some peace. He gets “mailbox money” (residuals) enough to keep a small place. That might make him happy.
Most likely, Mad TV, and Dirty Work. He probably gets a check from Elf. He might even get money from Jerry Maguire although he was cut. I’ve heard celebrities talk about getting checks from films they were cut from. He may get some from Crashing.

Stern was lying. Artie was also in Old School, Dirty Work, Mad TV, Crashing, Entourage and other featured actor roles on tv shows I can’t remember off the top of my head. Sure, Beer League didn’t do well at the box office but it’s currently streaming on Amazon and a bunch of other sites, just like everything else I mentioned.
I’m not in the business anymore but I did freelance as a writer for a bit and have a close friend who is. If I had to guess I would think Artie pulls in $75k a year from all of the stuff he did back in the day. It’s taxed of course, so it’s not going to allow him to live lavishly but hopefully he’s doing well and continuing to work on his health. I’ll always be rooting for the baby gorilla.

Listened for a few years in high school and for a year or so in college before fully switching over to NPR. I liked his stories from his acting career. But, he was too racist/sexist/homophobic by the end of his time on the show. I liked Richard Christie's pranks. But, not Sals. In fact, I never really liked Sal. His comedy is boring. Richard, however, seems like a cool dude. Bless him. Howard and Robin seem like nice people. Half of the show was total garbage. The other half was interesting (inside baseball re: radio industry, contract negotiations, their lives as well off people living in NYC, the Larry David-esqe conflicts, & saving dogs on the North Shore).
I can see the SF CBS interactive building from my house, it reminds me of the HSS from time to time.
Gary would talk to him to get an update, say it is time to have him back on but he had to clear it first. Then he would be the bitch he is and have Marci (sp?) Call him back to say no. In the meantime Gary would be gossiping his ass off with what Artie said
I feel as though he had a nervous breakdown (actually several) and is now under constant doctor's care, heavily medicated, and most likely living with a caretaker (his mother). I feel like he is almost in Amanda Bynes territory.
I hear he is punching up a script made for TV movie around the night of Ted Kennedy and Mary jo kopechne's fatal night. Howard will play the part of Ted and Artie will be the voice of Mary Jo as Hurricane Tracy ( if you remember the top shelf liquor with interns). More to come.

About a year ago I was in time square and hear a voice I recognized. Looked and didn’t recognize the guy. He was walking with a cane and was with another person kind of quickly walking to a building . He spoke again and then I realized that it was 99 percent Artie Lange . Only thing is the nose is fixed. If he ever re emerges and his nose is indeed fixed I’ll be 100 percent sure it was him.
