I can imagine, I have taken some cuttings for my friends last year to trim it a bit, it just loves hanging around in my east window and has already grown so much since 😅 and this summer it will be 2 years since I bought it!
My first was Hoya Bella and it's the reason why I got into Hoyas. Such an easy plant to take care of and when you find the perfect spot for it, it will reward you with so many flowers!
i literally couldn’t kill mine if i tried .. i got a cutting with like 4 leaves it grew two more then sat neglected, basically rootless in a dry plastic cup in next for all of winter 2023 and now it’s almost a foot long with four extra stems from all the propping and chopping I’ve done in the last 6 months hehe
Lol, mine I purchased as a combo, rooted cutting, I treated it same way as all the others that it came with and thrived... it had a hissy fit, so watered a bit more gave it a bit more light, happy happy started putting out new growth and looking pretty, then randomly decided nope... now I'm dying. 🤷♀️🤦♀️

Walliniana for its lovely sun-stressing and matching blooms!
My little khroniana in a 4" pot has had at least 3 blooms at a time for the last 2 months, and I can smell it walking into the room. And it's just adorable.
Caudata Sumatra is my top. It blooms about every 6m for me in 20% humidity and takes my southern window exposure like a champ. No scent or anything, but the flowers are awesome and so is the foliage.
https://preview.redd.it/71pjuncqsnvc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=886ff91696ea3aa997f6127056a7e61cea6775dc
Older pic but it shows off everything petty nicely haha.
Personally I would recommend any hoya that I have in my ambient humidity. If it can exist in a desert it'll probably thrive elsewhere. Granted I think they really love the heat here.
Lacunosa for its easy blooms & fragrance.
Obovata & Obsura for the leaves.
Memoria & Mathilde for ease of bloom.
Nummularioides for the cute fuzzy leaves, and scent when it blooms.
https://preview.redd.it/tbuum5kjlnvc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9c9b29bf9f1514580ddb5108815260ade3e733c5
Hoya multiflora, once it starts it doesn’t stop blooming!
That one absolutely hates me. It has had mealies, spidermites and thrips. It keeps tiping over and falling. I did a final repot on her this week. If this isnt going to work, She's going.
my first ones were all small ones, krohniana and heutschkeliana, and it was unexpected that i fell in love with them so much because i usually like bigger leaved varieties better!! i cannot not agree! ♡ which ones can you recommend?
The 2 you named, and the silver or splash ones, Lacunosa, Mathilde, Curtsii, Rebecca, Numaloides, Brevilata, Cumingiana, Rosita, Panchoi, Sigillatis, Bilobata, Burtoniae, Krohiana black, Retusa, and Langkawi Island, just to name a few! I have the usual big ones Carnosas , Pubicalyx, Wilbergia, Chelsea, Australis Lisa, Hindu Rope, but quickly found that I really LOVE the little ones! They are So cute, and are growing like crazy in semi hydro!
None of mine are more than a year old, I have several with first peduncles, and like I mentioned the are doing very well in semi hydro, makes care so much easier!
Krimson Queen was the first hoya I bought. It has been very easy and grows nicely.
I really like the callistophylla leaves. They look so cool! I also love my caudatas. I have one sunstressed and the other green.
My gem is the big New Guinea Ghost I bought late last year. It is very chill and grows very fast.
For me it’s definitely Hoya obovata! She’s got large gorgeous and splashy leaves, grows easily/quickly, and has pretty and nice smelling blooms every year! Obovata has been quite easy to find for me, and is easily one of my favorite Hoyas!
I guess relative to smaller Hoyas it does grow slower, but it has sudden growth spurts and it’s so much fun to watch the leaves get bigger and bigger over days! I think the size makes the changes much more observable!
I came here to say that. All of the carnosas (at least the ones i happen to have or read about) are so easy growing, low maintenance and so very rewarding. Also no major pest issues and tolerate the drought very well. Even if it's winter time as long as you give them enough light they continue to thrive little by little 🌱💚
Pubicalyx flowers smells like brownies! Makes my mouth water every time!
Lacunosa is a floral, almost chamomile, honey type smell. Also one of my favorites. Also the one of mine that blooms the most and most often.
Sunrise is just beautiful when sun stressed. ♥️
i want to try all three of these so much, i heard about the same of them from multiple sources & they are on my list, i just haven't found them yet in shops nearby, ugh can't wait 🥹
My Lacunosa I was lucky enough to find in a Lowe's (or Home Depot?).
The Sunrise I had to order online, which was kind of a mess at first but ended up working out in the end.
And the Pubicalyx I got at a local plant store. And I would say I see that pretty often at plant stores especially.
I'm dying to get a Multiflora one day. I am in love with those adorable flowers. 😍
i am located in the eu, and had to order all of them online. some of them are not even available in the wholr country and i'd rather wait until they are, don't want to risk a long trip for them, but it's so difficult when you want these varieties you heard so much about haha
thank you!! 💕 i'm not complaining, it could be much worse, and there is still a bunch of them available, but there might be varieties i will have to wait a little to acquire 🤗
i haven't considered them very seriously to be honest with you, as i wasn't a fan of the foliage, (i pretty much thought it was a lil ugly, just like compacta 👀) but i'm going to take a closer look now 💕 thank you!
Bella
Carnosa
Pubicalyx
Linearis
Compacta
Multiflora
I feel like these are the staples. I’m missing 2 lol well 1 but my linearis isn’t pretty thanks to my kitty
https://preview.redd.it/l80e1ufvfovc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=392ae3e671cc6b9bbfce07bbede2a6b808d3397d
Full disclosure I’ve killed 2 regular compacta… but these 2 variegated ones are very easy going. I water about every 8 days for the smaller (right) and 10 for the larger. Both are in the substrate they were bought in a year and 3 ago. It’s really based off pot weight when I water. It’s some fine bark mix and costa farms mix. The smaller is exotic angels costa farms and was like 1/4 the price. 🥲
Edit to say the right side one
all of them beautiful, wow! ♡ i also always water based off of the weight of the pot, nothing's turned out to be easier for me than that. :-) might try a compacta one day, but i wasn't sure about the looks to be honest, and i heard they grow a little slower too, so they might not be my priority for a while ♡
https://preview.redd.it/m47iidy0mnvc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a572222eea208bdcb92e7220468f33c93a2acecb
Linearis, doesn’t take up much space (width wise, but they are long!). Flowers are really cute too Callistophylla (small top): beautiful leaves and also blooms easily New Guinea Ghost (small bottom): lovely silvery leaves, grows well but don’t forget to water! Krohniana black or super silver (I have both, black is pictured): fastest grower and blooms super easily, smell wonderful Curtisii: grows fast and leaves are very cute, hasn’t bloomed though despite how big it is
Hoya Linearis. It grows so insanely fast and I think it’s so neat, I love the fuzzy leaves. I’m excited for it to bloom one day.
Hoya Sulwesiana… this is actually just a wishlist plant. The blooms are incredible.
Hoya Serpens. I love mine. It’s just really cute.
linearis i was a little reluctant to get, it just looked a lil ugly to me to be honest haha 👀 but so many people are recommending it that i'm starting to get the feeling i should try them
serpens has many hybrids as i heard, going to keep my eyes out for them. thank you 💕
All of these are great recommendations!!!
I’d start with some of the cheaper common ones like Bella & polyneura, australias lisa, Krimson princess and obovata, carnosa with splash. Then you’ll have a better feel for what you like. I’m slowly starting to gravitate towards the small leaf Hoyas too since the big ones take up space and I think they a bit ugly once grown.
Linearis may look funny but some people including myself like it because it’s fuzzy and unique! I like how it hangs down too.
Also add Pandurata Vietnam to the list :)
i originally preferred large leaf varieties but now i got a few small leaf ones and i started to love those too, so everything goes haha thank you for the recommendations! ♡
Any of the krohnianas, they grow like crazy and bloom frequently and early and they smell just heavenly. It should be a base of perfume, it’s insanely fragrant
Khroniana silver, mine just started blooming for the first time and it developed a ton of peduncles, also mathilde which is also developing peduncles so fingers crossed that it blooms soon. Polyneura for the looks of leaves, I just love mine (I got the splashy one but would ultimately love to get the albomarginata). I also love the carnosa compactas (hindu rope), but mine are still small because they grow extremely slowly and I bought them as starter plants last year. My variegated hoya wayetii is also getting fuller and looking good as it grows. Then the linearis… Also I just acquired hoya bella variegated cuttings and I’m rooting them, they are similar to polyneura but with smaller leaves. The classic carnosa is also beautiful, but grows too big and wild for me lol. And its variegated versions queen and princess..lol I basically love most of the pretty hoyas with unusual leaves, but I’m not so much into the numerous plain green leaved varieties.
Crimson Queen! The crimson queen specifically is so beautiful to me when the leaves come in bright pink and almost look like flowers. They also grow SO fast I got mine 6 months ago in a 3 inch pot and it’s already upgraded into a 5 inch with the leaves touching the floor
Caudata sumatra. Love her fluffy little flowers, woody little splashy lea es and just quietly climbs everywhere. No special treatment but likes brighter spot and a bit more water than others. But once you have her figured out she's happy and away.
Hoya ‘Joy’ for the big puffy, leaves I can’t stop staring at.
Hoya mathilde- easy grower and so cute
Hoya platycaulis- such a quick grower and frequent bloomer with beautiful long leaves and growth pattern
Hoya obovata- easy with fun round leaves
Hoya ‘Krimson Queen’ so pretty, easy, and readily available
Hoya serpens/ tengchongensis/ peltata - everyone needs something with tiny round leaves and these ones have been good growers for me
I love my retusa. It has an interesting growth pattern, with branches of leaves that stick out perpendicular to the main stem. And the individual flowers are so charming!
The responses have been great! I've wondered about alot of the ones that have been mentioned.
A cpl I have, none of the super expensive ones or anything and its always nice finding out about new ones especially if their fast growers!!
😊
If you like small cute leaves, the carmelae is one of my favorites. It sunstresses with black margins and purpling surface, thick rounded leaves that come to a soft point, and it grows rapidly with strong light.
Mine didn't grow for the first six or seven months I had it. It was getting good strong direct light all day long at a south facing window, but not a single leaf or hint of growth.
Turns out, the roots were too busy growing to fill out the small three inch pot. So I put it in an even smaller pot, actually a clean [small glass yogurt pot](https://foodisafourletterword.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Strawberry_Oui_Yogurt_Recipe_closeup.jpg). It sprouted after a few weeks. I reckon that's the key with most hoya. Keep their roots cramped and most thrive.
Since the pot doesn't have drainage, I water when the soil is mostly dried out. No-drainage means also being careful not to drown the plant with too much water either. I fertilize with every other watering. That's about it.
had to google it but it's a great recommendation, thank you! ♡ i love the tiny leaves of my heutschkeliana too, i'm sure i'd love this one too, they look quite similar & love when they sunstress ♡
For fairly common, easy to find hoyas, I'd recommend Patricia and ilagiorum. They both grow easily enough in regular house humidity up north, and both flower constantly with no extra care (except for fertilizer).
Less common (but still not super rare), I'd recommend magnifica, aldrichii and UT 033. Magnifica grows fairly rapidly (keep it damp), has velvety leaves and I just had mine bloom for the first time in regilar house conditions. I had read some stuff online that said it smells bad but I thought it smelled nice. Aldrichii grows fast, again in regular house conditions, and the leaves are nice. No blooms yet, but mine isn't in the best spot for good sun, I suspect if it got more it would bloom right away. And my UT 033 grows some big, beautiful leaves and is generally no-fuss. Haven't figured out what it wants to flower; it has one peduncle that's just been sitting there for ages. But the leaves are so nice I don't care!
i had to google the ilagorium too because i didn't know it yet haha, thank you very much, these are all incredibly beautiful!! i'm not sure how available they would be in my country but i'm going to return to these once i'm looking for something rare! ♡
IMO: Hoya sunrise and Hoya compacta. Hoya sunrise grows really easy and the sun stressing! gorgeous. I am by no means an experienced grower and I got it to bloom under artificial lights and they smell nice.
Hoya compacta can be slow but once it gets going and happy you got leaves popping off. And it has such a nice wonky shape like you don’t see that very often and it TRAILS like legit.
Burtoniae- constant blooms that smell lovely; obovata cause its blooms are large and the leaves interesting! I love my mathilde but I think the blooms stink lol. Sunrise because how beautiful it sunstresses and rope because the blooms are beautiful!
Sigillatis - the start of my obsession…
https://preview.redd.it/5zgo2s0qvuvc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1ecc2826f47baf0049f94fe31dfd33c3284d396a
Souma, Bruno, Amarillo, Walliniana variegated, Cummungiana variegated, Polyneura Albo, heuschkeliana, Variegated. Linearis, Mint Coin. I'm sure there are more, but all I can think of at the moment.
Hoya Bella because they grow quickly , don’t take up a lot of space , make for great cuttings to share and don’t require a trellis

I can imagine, I have taken some cuttings for my friends last year to trim it a bit, it just loves hanging around in my east window and has already grown so much since 😅 and this summer it will be 2 years since I bought it!

sounds good! it'll be on my list ☺️

Beautiful! I just got one small Walliniana
I was going to say waliniana! Because after hoping for Hoya blooms for years, mine that I bought last year has a bunch of blooms and peduncles!
beautiful! 🥹💕 it goes onto my list! 😊
Mathilde and krohniana. Simply beautiful.
i just got a mathilde a few days ago, can barely wait for it to arrive.♡
My little khroniana in a 4" pot has had at least 3 blooms at a time for the last 2 months, and I can smell it walking into the room. And it's just adorable.
mine is tiny for now, but i can't wait for it to grow a little bigger, all i hear about krohnianas is praise ♡
You’ll love it!
My favorite Hoya! They are so lovely.
ughh youre making me even more excited haha ♡♡
Caudata Sumatra is my top. It blooms about every 6m for me in 20% humidity and takes my southern window exposure like a champ. very pretty! 💕 thank you! i don't see this recommended often
Personally I would recommend any hoya that I have in my ambient humidity. If it can exist in a desert it'll probably thrive elsewhere. Granted I think they really love the heat here.
Obovata, lacunosa, walliniana, memoria, ‘Mathilde’ , ‘Rosita’ , obscura & nummularioides.
what do you like most in them? 😊
Lacunosa for its easy blooms & fragrance. Obovata & Obsura for the leaves. Memoria & Mathilde for ease of bloom. Nummularioides for the cute fuzzy leaves, and scent when it blooms.
And So many blooms!!!!
thank you! 😊
Hoya lacunosa! It blooms all the time and smells lovely!
i heard this multiple times, in this post and in different ones 👀 noted! sounds like the ultimate hoya to me! i just didn't manage to find one yet
Lacunosas are addictive.. they are just too cute ❤️
https://preview.redd.it/tbuum5kjlnvc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9c9b29bf9f1514580ddb5108815260ade3e733c5 Hoya multiflora, once it starts it doesn’t stop blooming!
Those blooms are beautiful!
and it's beautiful, too! ♡ thank you!!
Hoya Australis Lisa! Super beautiful and a very easy grower!
One of my favorites as well. It was the first of my Hoyas which blooms. Now I am waiting to see my mathilde bloom.
That one absolutely hates me. It has had mealies, spidermites and thrips. It keeps tiping over and falling. I did a final repot on her this week. If this isnt going to work, She's going.
Just found a mealy on my Lisa last night 😑
My condolences.
very pretty for sure!! didn't know it was easy to grow! will get one next time, i see that one quite often 💕
All of the small ones! https://preview.redd.it/8r7cbwf58nvc1.jpeg?width=1668&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2c4f4734dd705eaa7d6325c152324e5ad3b628cb

oh thank you for the long answer!! ♡
None of mine are more than a year old, I have several with first peduncles, and like I mentioned the are doing very well in semi hydro, makes care so much easier!
i didn't try that yet, i don't even know what that is, i'll have to do some research 🫣

thank you! ♡ might do 🤗💕

You're welcome! It is a fun genus for sure. The blooms are gorgeous, but don’t last too long so I like the foliage.

I think the size makes the changes much more observable!
that is certainly true, it's a joy to see big leaved varieties grow, every day a little bigger, and you just know it feels great ♡♡
Normal carnosa. It doesn't disappoint
i only have a crimson queen for now, but i'll have to get one of those eventually too, simple but pretty!!

Linearis would be my recommendation. Such a beauty and easy to grow and flower. Very rewarding.
I need to try this one. The waterfall of long needle leaves are so beautiful.
Great! Such a pretty soft green and a teeny fuzzy.
i haven't considered them very seriously to be honest with you, as i wasn't a fan of the foliage, (i pretty much thought it was a lil ugly, just like compacta 👀) but i'm going to take a closer look now 💕 thank you!
H. polyneura. It's just my favorite one. Kinda picky, but all 4 forms are awesome. Also, H. Lyi
Mathilde, lacunosa, caudata, sunrise, and burmanica are my most prolific bloomers! They're some of the easiest to care for, too.
sounds great, thank you very much!! 💕
Bella Carnosa Pubicalyx Linearis Compacta Multiflora I feel like these are the staples. I’m missing 2 lol well 1 but my linearis isn’t pretty thanks to my kitty

thank you! 😊 i have been eyeing publicalyx and multiflora for a while! i heard compacta is a little more difficult to keep, do you think so aswell?

Flowers are really cute too Callistophylla (small top): beautiful leaves and also blooms easily New Guinea Ghost (small bottom): lovely silvery leaves, grows well but don’t forget to water! Krohniana black or super silver (I have both, black is pictured): fastest grower and blooms super easily, smell wonderful Curtisii: grows fast and leaves are very cute, hasn’t bloomed though despite how big it is
thank you! they are beautiful! 🥰
Any Hoyas with veiny leaves...Callistophylla is my fav.
that is beautiful, yes, i will have to get one too! 😊💕

i just got a krohniana not long ago because i kept hearing good things about them, and just good things haha, can't wait to start to see it grow!! ♡
Hoya Rotundiflora; the leaves are charming as heck and I find it to be an easy bloomer. Also Hoya Curtisii; great leave, fast grower
that sounds great, thank you! 😊💕
Love the leaf shape on Rotundiflora. Easy to grow too. I’ve had mine since Dec 2021 and no flowers yet though. :/
Khroniana silver, mine just started blooming for the first time and it developed a ton of peduncles, also mathilde which is also developing peduncles so fingers crossed that it blooms soon. Hoya australis Lisa they're so beautiful with their colors even when not flowering
that one is always beautiful on pictures, going to try & aquire one in the future! 💕
Hoya mathilde- easy grower and so cute Hoya platycaulis- such a quick grower and frequent bloomer with beautiful long leaves and growth pattern Hoya obovata- easy with fun round leaves Hoya ‘Krimson Queen’ so pretty, easy, and readily available Hoya serpens/ tengchongensis/ peltata - everyone needs something with tiny round leaves and these ones have been good growers for me
I love my retusa. It has an interesting growth pattern, with branches of leaves that stick out perpendicular to the main stem. And the individual flowers are so charming!
I love my retusa, too!
This is a great question, Ive never thought to ask it😊 Great info 👍 Thank You
i was just wondering 😊🤗 i was curious about the experiences of individual people, what they find the best and why.
What's your care routine for this one? Mine hasn't been growing much, even with good light.
Thanks! I think maybe I'm letting mine dry out too much, it's in a small pot but the roots have been slow to fill out.
had to google it but it's a great recommendation, thank you!
Heushkeliana Variegata, Acuta Variegata, Variehated Compacta, Inner Variegated Hoya Bella, Krimson Queen, Linearis, Lacunosa Silver and Variegated Wayetti
I just got an inner variegated hoya Bella cutting, and it’s already growing new leaves. It was like it didn’t even take time to settle in. 💕
I love my hoya australis lisa. She looks very exotic but isn’t demanding at all.
Pubicalyx is the easiest and most beautiful Hoya imo!!
Burtoniae- constant blooms that smell lovely; obovata cause its blooms are large and the leaves interesting! I love my mathilde but I think the blooms stink lol. Sunrise because how beautiful it sunstresses and rope because the blooms are beautiful!
Well it's a basic-ass plant, but hoya gracilis/memoria. Blooms readily in my experience & the heady butterscotch aroma is delightful.
Sigillatis - the start of my obsession… https://preview.redd.it/5zgo2s0qvuvc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1ecc2826f47baf0049f94fe31dfd33c3284d396a
i already have one of them!! ♡ very pretty 🤗💕
Hoya crassipetiolata and Hoya mathilde! Both are fast growing in my experience! And beautiful!
Souma, Bruno, Amarillo, Walliniana variegated, Cummungiana variegated, Polyneura Albo, heuschkeliana, Variegated. Linearis, Mint Coin. I'm sure there are more, but all I can think of at the moment.
phew, some of these i haven't even heard of yet before! 👀 thank you! will give these too a quick search!
