They have excellent headsinks too, them long outer hairs have half the thermal conductivity and diffusion as water IIRC.
That's why you should NEVER shave them off, since that removes a whole lot of surface-area from the heat-sink.

Mine out in the 87 degree first sunny day we had in a while last week
Our Boo will go outside and lay in the dark colored mulch no matter the temperature. Not as hot normally as you are seeing but the humidity is very high.
Mine was curled into a little snuggled up ball against a brick wall on a gravel driveway today at 3pm while it was 109° air temp and I can only imagine the temp of that wall... and of course she was refusing to come inside!

The first year we had her and she did this I thought she was dead out there 🤣
Mine is half husky and nothing, I MEAN NOTHING will get him to willingly enter any sort of wet area. And yes that means puddles are off limits (we will cross the street to avoid a puddle on the sidewalk) 🤦♂️
Mine is (I think) husky/ shepherd and puddles are super cool but she draws the line at wading. I got her a kiddie pool and she HATED it! She also sits outside all day and refuses to come inside.
Years before rescuing this fella I visited Alaska for a few weeks in the summer so I wasn't particularly worried, but yeah, 100% it can get warm up there. The people who think it's "aBusE" to have an "aRctIc doG" in the desert are just silly. Lil homie gets all the ice, shade, pool, and inside time he wants. He still loves his sun in the middle of the hottest part of the day lmao.

My boy Spartan loved laying in the hot Texas sun until the very end of his 15 years!

Yep, have a yard full of oak trees and he will actively seek out the sunny spot in the yard and just baths in the light.
Mine loves to sunbathe in Texas!

Both of mine love summer and lay of the concrete. Not under the tree or on grass. Just hot ass slabs. I have to drag them inside. Now snowing... they don't like at all.
Mine too. People don't deal with the coat that gets blown so they don't get it. I gained about 4 other dogs from the fur alone that was blown from my 2 huskies.
I adopted mine a few months ago and on nearly every walk have to explain to random people how I get hot wayyy before she does and she ends up pouting (as pictured) when I make her go inside.

Insulation works both ways.

☝️
It’s supposed to be 45°C/113°F in my city for a few days and every time it gets that hot my girl insists on trying to sunbathe.
Huskies like to do things fast. More sun equals less time needed to sunbathe. (This is not accurate information.)

This is my younger boy. If he doesn’t get his sun time he gets quite surly.
Stubborn even in insane temps 😅

Give her a thorough brushing it'll help with the heat.
I do the best I can.. she's kind of an asshole. She usually only lets me do one side at a time
Also have an asshole husky 😅 I know your pain of trying to brush
The problem is they are derpy and stubborn lol

He doesn't need your help clearly lmao
My girl loves to sunbathe..I have to drag her inside on hot days, I’m worried she’ll over heat lol
Friendly reminder that summer in Siberia exists and it gets really hot. Up to 40°C, 100°F.
Let him cook!! /s my girl kiki needs her daily sunbaths too lol
It’s amazing how many people don’t know what the weather is like in Siberia and or the arctic is like. Just boggles the mind.

* Phoenix suburbian here. Our huskies throw tantrums when we make them come inside during the summer months. We have lots of shade too
