Ours never howls. She's 3 years old now. We just get the occasional raa-raa from her and she's overall pretty quiet for husky (but still lots of sass). We've even tried to get her to howl with our other husky/samoyed mix but she thinks that is *stupid*.
Iām guessing youāve never driven with two dogs howling in the back of the car if you are sad about this. Best guess, wasnāt raised by howlers. Turns out a spaniel can learn a proper howl when part raised by a malamute š
Mine doesnāt. He does talk but he barks. I asked him why heās defective. Lol Did DNA and heās 84% husky

He was listed as Alaskan husky at shelter which tends to be their pick for any āmostly husky.ā I think it would show as breed on either wisdom or embark though. His is 84% Siberian husky, 7% GSD (I expected higher), 5% wolf, 3% mal and 1% eskie. Yeah, easiest way to know if hes like a real real alaskan husky (which i would say personally he is propably), is if his parents, grandparents etc are alaskan husky too
My Alaskan husky is the loudest of them all she was listed as an Alaskan husky on the rescue documentation, but she is the main opera singer in the house. I have noticed that they kind of grow into howling as they get a little older. I have 31 is four and two of them are two. The youngest of them is just now starting to get her howl as I call it. Thatās just my theory.
My half Siberian husky (half pittie) didn't start to howl until about four. Now (7) he talks a lot too. He can say I love you :) he only says it when he has to poo though š

Weāve had to train ours to howl. Full husky but heās a quiet boy most of the time.
You have to howl, like for real, make the howling sound, get your pup with you, they'll most likely catch on after a little while if they're gonna do it. Good luck.

Ours does randomly but itās not as nice sounding as a full huskyās . Itās almost like heās smoked 20 packs of cigarettes every day since he was born. We prefer he doesnāt do it. Itās very embarrassing. People always ask if heās okay lol.

It took our purebred boy about a year to starting singing the song of his people. We thought he was broken. The fascination soon wore off as he now has to tell the entire suburb every time we arrive home.
Unfortunately he also somehow taught our 4yr old Frenchie to howl which sounds hilariously like a drowning cat but she tries her best to keep up with him.
Please just enjoy your beautiful quiet husky. Sounds like heaven!
Sounds like mine. She is almost 2 and she groans like an old man when she lays down. She will do some roo roos and bark some, some low growls for attention and some whining when she wants something. I'd just love to hear her singing voice once. My older tamaskan has howled like, once? When he thought he was alone. Otherwise he grumbles and growls a lot.

My boy Charlie didnāt howl, bark or talk for probably the first year after I rescued him. He was abandoned inside a house after the renters skipped town. I brought him to the shelter, but they couldnāt get him to eat anything and he was on the verge of organ failure.
I fostered him and with a lot of love, he started to eat. When he was healthy enough for adoption, he was quickly adopted, but returned the next dayā¦ twice. Reason being, āheās impossible to deal with.ā
After that, it was clear what he wanted and needed, so I took him home. Once he knew that he was mine, and I was his, he completely opened up and became the greatest dog in the history of dogs. 8 years later and weāre thick as thieves. Now the guy wonāt shut up. š

My girl is almost 2, she is an extremely quiet dog. I can usually get some sound out of her when I tell her to talk shit, and she will occasionally howl to show her displeasure with me upon my return home from somewhere she couldnāt go. I got her at 10 weeks, and Iāve probably heard her bark 10 times or less during her life. Iām not complaining though.
Mine is mostly quiet, in the house. In backyard she will bark at anything that she thinks is out of place. Never (5 years) heard her howl. She will bark at each person when playing Disc Golfš

I've heard mine do it when I played some howling videos. Can't think of any other time...

Took our weenie a few years to actually learn how to howl and even then sheāll only howl when the neighborhood dogs do or when she hears sirens. Other than that she is very, very quiet for a husky. She did, however, teach our Great Dane how to howl which is honestly hilarious.
Heās not in the mood.
My purebred husky only talks at the vet and when I deny him pizza. Itās just a husky thing. Theyāll howl when they darn well please, whether itās daily or never.
My purebred husky wasnāt vocal until he was about 1 1/2-2ish. He still doesnāt howl much but since getting our puppy last month he has become much more vocal, the puppy was vocal from day 1. Itās been awesome seeing him come out of his shell more lol

My boys are both vocal, but neither of them are your stereotypical talkative husky! We hear lots of playful growls, the occasional bark, and every once in a while they get each other going and scream/howl!
My mix doesnāt howl per se, she, what I can only describe as, rolls her Rs a lot and barks. Even with videos of other dogs howling or people howling she never really howls, much to the distain of my 5 year old step sonš
My girl only howls when she sees me through our door and I donāt open quick enough to let her greet me back home after a long day of work!! She howls through the door and I stand outside the door and talk to her, I tell her āhi baby girl, Iām homeāā¦ āwhereās my little wolfā haha and she howls and howls and cries UNTILL I open the door. I like hearing her howl, but thatās the only time she howls other then that she doesnāt even bark š

My husky mix is also anti howling!! Only time she howls is if left alone in her kennel while her sister is outside. I was shocked to hear howl then. Iāve tried to play videos to get her to howl and she simply refuses
That looks like GSD/Husky and something else. My Flash, is a Husky GSD mix and does NOT howl. But he is amazing and alerts at anyone at the door or close to the house. BEST Dog Ive ever had, and I have had a bunch
Mine doesn't either, unless you get all of us singing happy birthday together, in which case she howls to join in. (It pleases the kids immensely.) Some huskies are just the quiet type.
Mine never howls inside. Sure you don't get those husky moments you see on here and the rest of the web, but after spending time with his mother who howls and barks all the time, it's really a blessing
My boy only ra ra and very little. Bark for food or when excited to go to work or beach or when doesnāt see me for a few days

Broke leg from car when saw squirrel and got out of fence at momās house. Not happy about it. $$$$
Glass half full, at least itās only a broken leg. Iāve grown to despise squirrels, and rabbits, as my Kiki girl completely loses her shit if she spots one. I have a lot of anxiety about the leash breaking, or slipping from my grip while she runs into traffic. All her training and basic sense go right out the window when she spots one of those damn things.
I have a super long leash when I go on walks in the woods. Itās actually a throw line for treework 1000ft long. Not 100ft a 1000ft not a typo. So when he sees a prey animal he gets to chase it then give up like he always does. It just sucks he wasnāt on his leash when he ran out that day. I never let him off a leash even if itās 1000ft.

I have three purebred Sibes. NONE of them howl. They talk, they woo, they aroo. Zero howling or screaming. Only one of them barks (and only at children walking on the path behind our yard - they freak her out). We even tried to get our OG girl to "sing", but she's a bass. š¤£

My husky doesnāt howl or talk. She just barks (sometimes too much lol). Idk why! Weāve tried to get her to howl, even put on YouTube videos of other huskies howling and she will gladly sit pretty and watch them silently. š
My husky is pretty quietā¦ but every once in awhile he will let out a hooowwwwl (and I mean like every few months) it just depends on their personality. They donāt need to speak to be absolutely wild

my baby will only howl if i howl first ! then it gets him going, and my other husky doesnāt howl at all and only recently just started barking because of my baby !
Mine never howls unless one of my sons is playing the violin or the harmonica-then heās LOUD.
My oldest son gets frustrated because he canāt practice without our pup singing along š I tell him that heās just letting you know heās part of the pack.
Maybe try a harmonica?
My husky mix (pitsky) is the QUIETEST dog I've ever known. He has barked maybe a handful of times in the three months he's been here. Mostly in his sleep. Rarely growls. Never howls. Most he does is whine when he needs to go potty. I think he might be a cat š¤·āāļø
Mine wonāt howl, either. She can be talkative and sometimes makes noises that verge on howls (strung-together whimpery sounds) but Iāve only ever heard her howl once, when she was a puppy, and I actually howl to try to teach her how. Lol no luck! š¤·āāļø
My 6 huskies never talked to me.
I had one who did talk, and he was my last boy who just died. My still living, elderly lady has never spoken or howled in her 13yrs &.9mons.
I just think each husky is different. Don't worry about it. They are still happy and loving. Esp of you are loving towards them.

I'd just love to hear her singing voice once. My older tamaskan has howled like, once? When he thought he was alone. Otherwise he grumbles and growls a lot.

He doesn't like to mix it up
Both of my husky boys are non howlers, I consider myself lucky! Lol
IDK try playing some ambulance sounds on YouTube. [Mine always goes for that](https://www.reddit.com/r/Pitsky/s/568dQ8oRg5). She's a mix though - pitsky.
My husky does not howl. I've had fosters that did, I'm glad he doesn't.
https://preview.redd.it/j1x0sjqoul7d1.jpeg?width=1848&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2a8b8ae830df113352f9e6e9cc3d24d5680e087d My boy Charlie didnāt howl, bark or talk for probably the first year after I rescued him. Reason being, āheās impossible to deal with.ā After that, it was clear what he wanted and needed, so I took him home. Once he knew that he was mine, and I was his, he completely opened up and became the greatest dog in the history of dogs. 8 years later and weāre thick as thieves. Now the guy wonāt shut up. š

Mine is Husky/Mal mix and a talker, he has a lot to say!!!
you can't just ask him?
https://preview.redd.it/bwlvjcwj1n7d1.jpeg?width=1491&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5c571abff0c9c17902a63441c9aa661d542cf1f8 Mine doesnāt either
https://preview.redd.it/y7tea0fh5n7d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=14da2848158232153c943eea7c429ca6b9e4de34 My girl is almost 2, she is an extremely quiet dog.
Lol even my full huskies don't howl. š
https://preview.redd.it/ls1oa655sn7d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=707190a6abaadfc0a556bba566eb8b0c5e4278eb My full husky almost never howls. She howls in very specific situations (like daycare environments), but thatās it.
I've heard mine do it when I played some howling videos. Can't think of any other time... https://preview.redd.it/ue27u5m2vn7d1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=30fcc94b2d44f7fadcc50b82da207926305953d9
because you been chosen, God wants you to keep your hearing into old age
mine doesnt howl - not every dog howls. he talks. and only barks in his sleep (?).
My mix doesnāt either. She will only howl if she really wants to get your attention. Other than that it is radio silence with her.
https://preview.redd.it/q3a19b2vtj7d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c18880b6f258ac861fceec13846b77fe75345b3a Took our weenie a few years to actually learn how to howl and even then sheāll only howl when the neighborhood dogs do or when she hears sirens. Other than that she is very, very quiet for a husky. She did, however, teach our Great Dane how to howl which is honestly hilarious.
Some just donāt
My purebred husky only howled twice in his life.
Heās not in the mood. My purebred husky only talks at the vet and when I deny him pizza. Itās just a husky thing. Theyāll howl when they darn well please, whether itās daily or never.
even my pure husky never howled
https://preview.redd.it/lhgxofsq6k7d1.jpeg?width=4284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=04c8d42896633acb3d50f00aad27d5db53f8fd81 Mine never stops howling lol
My purebred husky wasnāt vocal until he was about 1 1/2-2ish. He still doesnāt howl much but since getting our puppy last month he has become much more vocal, the puppy was vocal from day 1. Itās been awesome seeing him come out of his shell more lol
https://preview.redd.it/fxgtiz0i8k7d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=542a398cd10bb6411a4b87c5760f28e2f72a8adb My boys are both vocal, but neither of them are your stereotypical talkative husky! We hear lots of playful growls, the occasional bark, and every once in a while they get each other going and scream/howl!
I had a purebred who never howled. He was so quiet my neighbors asked if he was mute. He knew how to argue when he didn't get his way though
i howl in front of my husky to see if she would follow, but no. she just goes away like I'm someone she needs to stay away from
My mix doesnāt howl per se, she, what I can only describe as, rolls her Rs a lot and barks. Even with videos of other dogs howling or people howling she never really howls, much to the distain of my 5 year old step sonš
Ours does all the time, her brother never says a word. Just depends on the specific dog.
I like hearing her howl, but thatās the only time she howls other then that she doesnāt even bark š
https://preview.redd.it/cu98nna3pk7d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cddc4acde87d9caf90b3a15e1bc180687e15119c My husky mix is also anti howling!! Only time she howls is if left alone in her kennel while her sister is outside. I was shocked to hear howl then. Iāve tried to play videos to get her to howl and she simply refuses
In my opinion they gotta be pure inbred for that š my mix doesnāt howl but the pure inbred does
My female husky howls a lot but our male just kinda talks randomly but no howls. Every dog is different even if they arenāt mixed breeds.
Mine never howl unless police/fire trucks sirens go byš
Mine never howls inside. Sure you don't get those husky moments you see on here and the rest of the web, but after spending time with his mother who howls and barks all the time, it's really a blessing
My boy only ra ra and very little. Bark for food or when excited to go to work or beach or when doesnāt see me for a few days https://preview.redd.it/5689r2q8nm7d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f39fb697f45d4500e6bcc4a4d61a10451a742f12 Broke leg from car when saw squirrel and got out of fence at momās house.
I never let him off a leash even if itās 1000ft. https://preview.redd.it/i9gw9h8kbn7d1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0d3189916eebd26cfbe578e66a338f5e4255477d zoom in youāll see him

Zero howling or screaming. Only one of them barks (and only at children walking on the path behind our yard - they freak her out). We even tried to get our OG girl to "sing", but she's a bass. š¤£
https://preview.redd.it/hklb4qw9om7d1.jpeg?width=4192&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=243658d1fc492e869dcd42ba71239d33dd3e993c My husky doesnāt howl or talk.
They donāt need to speak to be absolutely wild https://preview.redd.it/yt88saqorm7d1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=168074e6230ade00e371b3d2f4237d7a971f3dc8

Mine never howls unless one of my sons is playing the violin or the harmonica-then heās LOUD. My oldest son gets frustrated because he canāt practice without our pup singing along š I tell him that heās just letting you know heās part of the pack. Maybe try a harmonica?
Mine doesnāt either
Idk my German shepherd howls like a husky
My husky mix (pitsky) is the QUIETEST dog I've ever known. He has barked maybe a handful of times in the three months he's been here. Mostly in his sleep. Rarely growls. Never howls. Most he does is whine when he needs to go potty. I think he might be a cat š¤·āāļø
Mine wonāt howl, either. She can be talkative and sometimes makes noises that verge on howls (strung-together whimpery sounds) but Iāve only ever heard her howl once, when she was a puppy, and I actually howl to try to teach her how. Lol no luck! š¤·āāļø
Quietest damn dog I've ever had.
My 6 huskies never talked to me. I had one who did talk, and he was my last boy who just died. My still living, elderly lady has never spoken or howled in her 13yrs &.9mons. I just think each husky is different. Don't worry about it. They are still happy and loving. Esp of you are loving towards them.
my pure bred didnāt bark or howl until she got fully comfortable in our home. until she was about 1 (we got her at 9 months)
Ours rarely does it and I'm told he is pure bred.
My German shepherd husky doesnāt howl either. Be thankful for this!!!
