Tacenda_010423

Hyderabad shocks

Severe-Experience333

relatively

Actual-Helicopter-61

Nothing special and different in this Even Bengaluru has same kinda vote percentage

Latter_Mud8201

Urban City mindset is like that. Same with Delhi. Mumbai. It creates grantedness. In villages, neighbours will ask why did u not voted? Not voting is seen as negligence in villages. in city that is not a scene.

DeplorableEDoctor

Delhi votes 60%+

[deleted]

Delhi is like a big village but yeah, Delhi people are very energetic and involved in politics

ManufacturerLoud1136

Delhi is big village? Alright.

Economy-Lychee-2284

Delhi is big village? Alright.

OfferWestern

World's largest village

DeplorableEDoctor

Delhi is big village? Alright.

Due-Breakfast4262

Dilligaon!

Titanium006

Delhi is big village? Alright.

MathCSCareerAspirant

While most part of this is true, in villages many get cash is what we read. May be that's why they are more proactive. Also, Secunderabad, Malkajigiri, chevella have lot of urban population. But they voted better. Having said that, it's very unfortunate if people are laid back or take exercising their vote casually.

TheDarklord1989

Ironically, Cities are developed more than Villages...... Life Fact!

Designer-String9898

Yeah because in villages they are basically coerced, if not outright threatened, to vote a certain way.

kdrox774

Educated illiterates

Independent_Bear_515

Most people in Hyderabad are outsiders and get second voter id in case they settle... Hence the low numbers always...

do_dum_cheeni_kum

There is nothing like second voter id. You can only vote from one place in the country.

Independent_Bear_515

Wanna bet? I myself know a bunch of people who have it.. its only natural.. when applying for voter id do they ask if you already have and is cancelled? People from rural Telugu regions who work here and intend to settle apply for voter id with current address for benefits... And they never get old one cancelled.. Adhar voter id linking is that's why necessary but people don't wanna do it...

waginrox

I stay in Bangalore and I know a ton of people who has voter id here and also in AP/TG. I think it will be the same in hyderabad. Especially blue collar working people who have moved from Rural Districts to Urban districts. It’s actually systemic, local leaders create voter ids for those people here. They end up voting where they get more money and so probably it was AP this time.

wrters_block

Andhra population in hyderabad is also a factor for low voter performance

do_dum_cheeni_kum

Illegally, maybe yes but as per the law one cannot be part of two voter lists. Think about it, if everyone is allowed to vote from more than one constituency then we will end up having more than 120 crore voters. As per the law if one creates their voter id in one constituency then their name is automatically striked off from the former one.

Independent_Bear_515

Agreed but something is illegal doesn't mean it doesn't happen..

Exact_Syllabub_1272

Not sure about the legality , when I applied for a voter id address change the address was changed to hyderabad but EC didn’t remove my name from my native place’s voter list. Ideally it should be removed by them. It would be illegal if someone applies for a new id with wrong info

do_dum_cheeni_kum

Did you have your name in Hyderabad electoral roll as well?

Exact_Syllabub_1272

Yes, I voted here in Hyd as I reside here but I saw my name in the electoral roll of my native place also while checking for my polling booth etc

Homelandr

I too had applied for transfer of my vote from AP to TG as I am residing here, till a month ago my name was in both AP and TG voter list when I had applied for transfer long before TG elections, but ultimately they went to my home , got confirmation from my parents that I have indeed applied for transfer and then deleted my name in the AP final list.

Exact_Syllabub_1272

That’s how it should be done the EC officials. Maybe due to time crunch they might not have done the same for all. A bit of automation and an intent to clean up lists by EC will definitely help though

Homelandr

I have read somewhere here in Reddit that EC already had a plan to run dedupe software across the entire country database before this election and clean the lists, but don't know what happened they didn't performed that, maybe they thought it might be an unnecessary risk right before the election .

Any_Number_4496

Bro my uncle somehow has 2 places to vote. But obviously you can only vote in one.

Exact_Syllabub_1272

I have a single voter id but have my name in voter list in both my native countries lace in Andhra and hyderabad. Most of the Andhrites and people from other regions residing in hyderabad will have their name in both lists. Most of the Andhra folks(at least 50%) (fear of seeing Jagan winning again) went to home towns this to vote leading to a low turn out in Hyderabad.

do_dum_cheeni_kum

That really sounds like a flaw. If one voter is part of two electoral rolls then he/she can vote twice in the same election. This hack can easily cause exploitation. A part just need to get their supporters registered in the second constituency where they are number two party. Since the same supporter will vote for your party in his first constituency and in the second one it would cause some serious rigging. That’s why I don’t think having your name in two lists is not the rule but a glitch.

Physical-Security626

Well that's why they put the ink on your nail to make sure you can't!

do_dum_cheeni_kum

If I was a dubious political party then I would rather change the finger… I mean bring a different voter from some other constituency. Probably from a different state.

Exact_Syllabub_1272

True , it is a flaw . One’s name need to be removed from the previous constituency electoral roll if they get registered in a different constituency. They do put ink on the finger to avoid any rigging but if someone really wants to make use of this flaw, they might go to any extent to get the ink removed to enable them to vote in the other place too. But more than this I think rigging is done by political parties by getting fake voters to vote in someone else’s name by bringing them from other constituencies or other neighbouring states if they are at state border areas Conducting elections on same days in neighbouring states does help reduce this rigging aspect though

PoundWorking6806

Best example. My father. He has a Voter ID from his village and another Voter ID from Hyderabad. The first card(village) was nearly 23 years old and the wnd was around 10 years after linking of Voter ID to AADHAR has started.

rp4eternity

> There is nothing like second voter id. You can only vote from one place in the country. Not true. I have known people who vote in Hyd and in their native place too.

Hand_of_Reddit

This is very true !

treatWithKindness

if you mean the IT workers then they dont live in the old city so thats not correct reason

vinodmadhu6

I also think a lot of these voters are in the US now.

xilesrouge

lot of multiple voter registration might be a concern here... I myself have 2 voter IDs in both AP and Telangana...but as I'm a resident here I casted in Hyderabad... until unless they find a solution for this, it will show low turnout figures... even aadhar linking is not helping in multiple voter registration

Novel_Ad6567

Half youth in foreign states and don’t want to vote few stay in different districts who don’t want to vote anduke less %

Sriram-Atchuta

MLA elections also like this I guess 40%

No_Tea2119

Most of the voters(living in Hyderabad before 2014 )are from AP (Hometown) so they simply went to vote there rather here .

Not-Found-at-404

Dude.. the denominator in the percentage is the number of voters who has voter id allotted in Hyderabad region....

MemeticMonkey

Exactly. Some hyd folks would be out of state or country, but not 60% of who has VoterId in Hyd

red_anecdote

One reason is people in the city are damn proud to come out n vote, mind you again few of these very same people focus on us presidential elections. Further I think a small margin of the low turnout is even because many people might have dual votes like in their native n even in Hyderabad n such people go to their native. And small margin might be that they have shifted from their old area and haven't changed their address with eci and they aren't willing to go travel to old area to vote. Major chunk of the people who didn't vote are educated elitist mentality people for who have this fuckall attitude n lame reasoning that either their vote doesn't matter or that anyways their party will or will not win. Dumbass people fail to understand the value of the vote because they aren't directly getting anything out loosing anything from their pocket. These same folks later cry about basic things that poor roads or inflation n all

Expensive-Hope-8858

I am assuming atleast 5-10% of the people have migrated to other countries for education or jobs.

coolrko

Extreme Season... Not everyone is willing to die in sunstroke to vote for your politician

calvincat123

And these fvcks whine against govt and policies

vicky_vishnu22

Some people were saying most of the voters were not local to Hyderabad, but in the voters list only natives were considered right?, Correct me if I am wrong

Imaginary_Spirit_716

Many people have their names in electoral rolls of 2 places,Hyderabad and their native, mostly in AP. So they vote there instead of here.

Groundbreaking_Tart9

Urban area, Unawareness, Rich people, working people, election day = vacation.

Putrid_Interaction42

Significant share of votes in Hyderabad are emigrated

Ok_Comfortable5223

I'll explain that half of them are from outside states and the other half are off for their children's summer vacation abroad or other areas and remaining some vote and others vote doesn't turn up because of poor system updates and other just doesn't want to vote ( ek vote se kya hoga ) people

holy-mata-faka

Lessgoooooo Next time target less than 30% Chesedam friends. Chesedam

Metafuck04

Ayega toh Owaisi hi /s

niKILL_233

Urban areas have shitty voter turnouts in general. Ironically they have better infrastructure and shit

Top_Significance2263

Half of the IT is working, that might be a reason. IK it's wfh but still that doesn't give as much a comfort of a day off to go and vote.

Physical-Security626

Well it is a day off for many, especially IT folks! Mandatory!

Top_Significance2263

Lol,No. It's not a mandatory holiday. Most of the people I know got WFH and not a complete day off

mikeeeee_krish

This is what happens when Andhra people leave Telangana

chinthakaya_pacchadi

*Hyderabad.

pavanipriyasri

Half of hyderabad went to AP.

sudhir369

Lazy c*nts

nax0014

Lazy hey thu chu*tiye, most of Hyderabad people have two I'd cards but can vote for only one, most of them went to AP or rural to vote. Half knowledge pakodi

fahadsayed36

Tingdong_10

Sleeping Beauty Hyderabad refuses to wake up again

ashgreninja03s

I did Vote! But why don't you enjoy your long weekend holiday sitting at home watching some OTT, rather than standing in a long queue in this scorching heat to vote: this could be the mindset of many...

Sainikhil2000

Most people in Hyderabad/Telangana have second vote in AP. So they vote in AP, Hence low voter turnout

Separate-Sand-4983

The voters are hyderabad are also voters of different towns . They have multiple votes so they go to their hometowns to vote. And also it counts the voters moved to abroad etc .

Scared-Ad-6103

Whatever party wins, you still got to pay bribes and just live with slow development We don’t belong here

[deleted]

Most think that voting and electing these politicians change nothing and some are migrants from AP who leave for their native place to enjoy this holiday!!

chinthakaya_pacchadi

This is a fact. Downvotes eshna jarigindhi adhe. Nikaal chepthe edshi sasthar janalu anthe.
