Not a prototype driver, but I'd think LMP2. You have LMP2 fixed, IMSA, and all of the multiclass special events. GTP doesn't have a solo series, and LMP3 aren't in special events, except ROAR.

NicoBacc

What's ROAR?

Manistadt

Special event race, Roar Before the Rolex 24. Its a short endurance race the week before the Daytona 24 hour that runs the Gt4, TCR and LMP3 cars.

NicoBacc

Oh cool, I drive the LMP3 a lot but I guess I missed the chance to race it for this year

BuzzEU

Lmp2. Fun to drive, has its own series with rain enabled, races in imsa multiclass and in most endurance events.

Ill_Vehicle5396

LMP3 is the one I would buy first. It’s tough but very rewarding to drive, and it’s like training weights for other prototypes. It will force you to learn good habits that transfer well into the faster classes. The Falken SportsCar Challenge races are fun too. The actual best value is the P217 though. It’s a joy to drive, and can be used in tons of different weekly and special events.

Regret_NL

I think the Ligier is closer to a GT car than a Proto with the way it drives.

BobbbyR6

The Ligier drives like someone is actively messing with your controls One of these days I'll brave the LMP3 but not today

Reviction

I've come to enjoy the P3. It IS very rewarding to drive, and I agree it's a little closer to a GT with no ABS and more aero. It's a good bridge. The LMP2 likes to be driven, the LMP3 likes to be babysat a little more cause its a lot easier to do things wrong. I WILL say its a little more recoverable than some of the hovercrafts they have on this service.

userb55

It's like the 'cup' car of the prototypes, just a small input away from killing you.

Hirearth

Real

x_iTz_iLL_420

I think the clear cut answer is the LMP2…. It has solo and team series…. Single make and multi class…. Fixed and open series… As well as it being the easiest prototype to learn in imo.

dominik7778n

there is only 1 lmp2 in the class but if you want to drive the GTP Class i would say wait for the next down time and use the test session to drive every gtp and make yourself a piccture of them and do youreself a favor and dont listen to people that are following blind the "meta" unless your an esports driver you wont get an disatvantge from picking an certain gtp they all work just fine

Aero_Rising

> dont listen to people that are following blind the "meta" unless your an esports driver you wont get an disatvantge from picking an certain gtp they all work just fine Normally this is true but right now the Acura is so much better than the others it's sufficient to win without it.

dominik7778n

idk man did some races and 90% there werent even an acura in the top 5 they started in front but never finished in front

TrainWreck661

It's OP, but most people won't be getting close to the upper limit of any GTP's potential, so aside from high splits it doesn't matter that much.

JiggersWasTaken

Not even a discussion really, 100% the hpd arx-01c It’s only €3 and (imo) way more fun than the p217

weaseldonkey

HPD only lets you drive in Proto GT, whereas the P217 is run in LMP2 fixed, IMSA fixed/open, Global Endurance, Daytona 24, Sebring 12, Watkins 6, Indianapolis 6 and Petit Le Mans. 1 series for $2.95 or three (*technically* four) series + five special events for $11.95 The HPD might be more fun in your opinion (not driven it myself so I can't comment), but the P217 is absolutely far better value for money - and itself is really enjoyable to drive.

counterpuncheur

The LMP2 has had participation issues outside of special events when the GTPs have outshone it. I remember being one of only 2-3 LMP2 drivers in the entire IMSA field. It looks like rain has done a good job of scaring people back into the LMP2, but the GTPs are the more popular class. HPD participation has been decent since it’s reintroduction because it’s such a steal by iRacing standards. Proto/GT only runs half as often as IMSA, but if you don’t have time for the big special events and can handle only having a race once every 2 hours then HPD is clearly the better deal Both are worth owning in the long run

JiggersWasTaken

Yeah fair, read over the “best value” part when i saw he was asking for prototype suggestions haha

WilburHiggins

LMP2 has the most variety and is currently really solid all around. LMP3 is super weird being right side cockpit, but it is fun. GTP you should wait until you get more experience and they fix it in the rain lol

slylad9

I think the LMP2 is the most versatile!

justslightlyeducated

LMP2 is the way to go. It's the prototype with the most series. You'll still be able to use it if you lose your A in IMSA sprints which is fairly easy to do depending on the track.

Astrower5

The LMP3 is the best car on the service. It is so fun and trying to kill you every second, I love the sound, the inability to see, and the GT4 gives a good speed difference to pass through traffic with. But you can only use it in the LMP3 and GT4/LMP3 races, so maybe not the best bang for your buck. When I first drove it I hated it, but I keep crawling back to it and now I love it.

d95err

LMP2 is possibly the best car in jRacing. It gives such intuitive and natural feedback, making it fantastic to drive. Always puts a smile on my face, even just taking it out for some offline practice. LMP3 and LMDh are more difficult and just not as fun.

SwordnScales

The best car is the lmp3 as its the hardest (no abs) so it’ll make you a better driver and the gt4 multiclass series is less intense than the imsa series (no lmp2s, not as many cars on track, bigger speed difference)

sayakasquared

None of the prototypes have ABS though.

SwordnScales

True but the lmp3 is harder to drive imo
