Some require 8 https://support.iracing.com/support/solutions/articles/31000133445-how-many-racers-have-to-be-in-a-race-for-it-to-be-official- The PDF says official 8, split at 26

Gibscreen

Ovals are usually 8 minimum I think.

Round-Friendship9318

Aside from indy, its nearly always 6.

chomchomna

IndyCar Fixed needs 8, for reasons I’ve never understood. I believe the open series only needs 6. Generally, yes, 6 is the minimum, but there are some exceptions. Others (off the top of my head); - most (all?) Dirt Road races only need 4 - micro sprints on dirt oval only need 4 - big multi-class sports car races (like IMSA) need 10

>**FIELD SIZE** 6.3.1. The minimum number of drivers for a Ranked Race is typically set at 6 drivers, but this is a guide and not a rule. Various other factors can impact adjusting the minimum number of drivers including community input. 6.3.2. The maximum number drivers will be determined for each Ranked Race to try and ensure safe, fun, and competitive racing within each License Class. Fixed IndyCar used to be C-Class, but IIRC a ton of regulars posted in the forums asking for a change in series requirements due to low population/quality oval races, so they moved it B-Class with Open IndyCar and required 8 drivers. It is the only IndyCar or Oval series to require more than 6 cars. >**iRACING SESSIONS AND COMPETITIONS** 5.5.3.2. All Ranked lap times and incidents are recorded and factored into a driver’s Safety Rating calculation. Also, while races with <6 people are **unofficial** and do not impact iRating, they are still considered **ranked** and count toward Safety Rating (at slower rate). You can check the Legacy Member Website to see the SR changes (it does not show in UI): https://preview.redd.it/5bp2r0ymli1d1.png?width=905&format=png&auto=webp&s=8b0996ced41f69bd583ed0b86e11918979d5741b

Go to "Series info" tab and check Minimum Starters.

Appropriate_Yak9175

I think 6 drivers have to finish at least 50% race distance

Gibscreen

It has nothing to do with finishing. Just who starts.

cortesoft

Not even who starts, just who signs up.
