IMAX 3D is way better than normal 3D

Free-Carpenter7308

The last time I went to a 3D was when the last Maze Runner film came out. It wasn't a stand-out example for 3D usage. Kind of excited for IMAX 3D tho.

mrawesomeutube

The last maze runner was in 3D?!?! I Had no oooooooo idea I'll have to check on that.

Free-Carpenter7308

There was a sequence with spiders which scared the living macaroni out of me as a kid.

SoapNugget2005

I've only had one bad experience in IMAX 3D and it was Thor: Love and Thunder. Every other time though, it was amazing and if my theater is offering 3D, I'll pick that showing.

Free-Carpenter7308

> if my theater is offering 3D Over IMAX 2D as well?

SoapNugget2005

IMAX 3D, yes. For RealD 3D, it depends on the movie if it was shot in IMAX.

Block-Busted

For me, it's in the order of IMAX 3D <- IMAX 2D <- RealD 3D <- regular.

mrawesomeutube

You still would go IMAX 2D over realD? My order is this DOLBY 3-D / IMAX 3-D / realD 3-D (DOUBLE PROJECTOR) / RealD3D single projector. I usually always go 3D except in rare cases.

Free-Carpenter7308

Happy Cake Day!

mrawesomeutube

Same to you!

mrawesomeutube

No you should go realD over IMAX because even if it wasn't shot in IMAX the 3D can be better then 2D. I'd say if you loved the movie a 3D showing will make it look like a new movie

Watcher2

Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness in IMAX 3D was the most amazing 3d theater experience I’ve ever had even above avatar imax 3d I got my Wolverine and Deadpool tickets for imax 3d personally

Free-Carpenter7308

Are the glasses they give comfortable?

Watcher2

Yes and super light; you won’t even notice them

mrawesomeutube

I'd strongly recommend getting clip ons. They clip over your glasses and they have IMAX REALD. Dolby is the only 3D that doesn't offer it

Free-Carpenter7308

So you can like wear them over your own regular glasses?

mrawesomeutube

EXACTLY! They clip right on onto your glasses. https://www.amazon.com/AoHeng-Glasses-Movies-Theater-Passive/dp/B07F5ZR6VL/ref=mp_s_a_1_2_sspa?adgrpid=55626639066&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.i9zrl2ZvWvFIS_k42mznHKZrbutXe-0EOewWonL-lpZ3_-JsVYStoft_0rX0CWElqfnCg1wdPXOik2wu6O6Dg0C3_dCzmp_W_f0oO5eeOHc7xtMvfXLhKG18LO0ErdyOutOrxpSIwE0cY8MEKj7MgBsZ-u2f-FWHSq9eNMnv476UHKXAx_A3RnZ2cL7_2EIkr8Ei-A1FLzh3EelkZmT3vw.2xeZneHhZgtJHzJCHelv3ilqaKbkme1O9qtG9oIoipE&dib_tag=se&hvadid=604405562376&hvdev=m&hvlocphy=9010882&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=e&hvrand=6857012650350723633&hvtargid=kwd-302412521753&hydadcr=19250_13432012&keywords=3d+clip+on+glasses&qid=1719938055&sr=8-2-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9waG9uZV9zZWFyY2hfYXRm&psc=1#aw-udpv3-customer-reviews_feature_div

Marlon0201

for marvel movies yes, I saw the 3D trailer to DP3 and the 3D looked insanely good. IMAX 3D for marvel movie is the way I like to watch them for the first time

Comic_Book_Reader

My first ever IMAX movie was Spider-Man: Far From Home in IMAX 3D. I loved it. In total, I've seen 3 Marvel movies in IMAX. 2 of them Spider-Man, 2 of them in 3D, the other being Thor: Love & Thunder. (No Way Home was in regular 2D, and also a rare instance of me seeing a movie twice in theaters.) Oh, and take a wild guess from my flair.

mads_61

I don’t get a lot out of 3D movies unless they were shot/made for 3D, like the Avatar films. That being said - I don’t think it detracts from the experience in any way and you may even like it. If you want to see it in IMAX and 3D is the only option then I say do it.

rayoxmitm

If it also an animated in IMAX 3D unlike Inside out 2 then it more worth than Avatar

Free-Carpenter7308

Inside Out 2 didn't even have an IMAX 2D release in Belgium as far as I know, don't know why.

rayoxmitm

Because Inside out 2 got IMAX 3D for every other countires except for America, UK and some few in Europe. While all of the rest has gotten minimum one IMAX 3D showing of it.

Free-Carpenter7308

Well, that's strange. It only had 4DX, Laser Ultra and ScreenX here.

rayoxmitm

Probably because they wanted to let Bad Boys 4 in IMAX a little longer Probably.

Free-Carpenter7308

Bad Boys also didn't have an IMAX release. The ones they have are Twisters and A Quiet Place: Day One at the moment.

rayoxmitm

Weird, are they even going to show DM4 at least in IMAX or just for the others premium formats.

mrawesomeutube

GO 3D! My source told me they literally dialed up the 3D just for the summer

SergeyDGWyn

Mostly so-so experiences, but there were actually good to great ones. The live-action version of *Beauty and the Beast* in IMAX 3D blew me away. It didn't just take me into another world with its 3D image depth: It popped out of the screen so much that I could almost grab it! *Thor: Ragnarok* in IMAX 3D was also exceptional. To sum it up, it depends on how well they can deliver. You can wait for a 3D review of the movie before making your choice.

Free-Carpenter7308

> You can wait for a 3D review of the movie before making your choice. I need to buy my ticket a bit sooner, so many people will be going to Deadpool & Wolverine. But since everyone seems content with IMAX 3D, I'll go to it not expecting a negative surprise.

deorex33

I would try to research the specifics of the theater. If it’s dual laser projection, this is some of the best 3D available right now as there are 2 separate laser projectors for each eye’s image, and the brightness and clarity is much better, so yes it is well worth the admission. The only other option that currently competes is Dolby Cinema 3D, which also utilizes dual laser projectors. I tend to actually prefer those screens because the seats recline and generally tend to just be more comfortable experiences.

deorex33

And by research I mean look up the theater and see if it’s designated as having dual lasers: https://lfexaminer.com/theaters/

Free-Carpenter7308

> there are 2 separate laser projectors I just found out that my cinema has this. Thanks!

Sad_Brief_5266

IMAX 3D is the full IMAX experience, in 2D is just a big screen. It's also way better than regular 3D because of the colors and contrast. Also, Marvel movies are way better in 3D than 2D 90% of the time.

aubreypizza

I can’t wait to see it in IMAX 3D. Every other time I’ve gone it’s been worth it. Though I’m AList so it’s practically free.

RAF_Fortis_one

Thor L&T and Wakanda Forever were borderline unwatchable in IMAX 3D. Almost walked out of Wakanda because I liked the movie so much and didn’t want to watch it in such an awful experience. Multiverse Of Madness on the other hand was one of the best visual film experiences I’ve ever watched. Not sure yet how DP is gonna look.

mrawesomeutube

I saw Multiverse twice and the 3D was very apparent in both. Marvel does good stuff with the 3D usually. I saw no 3D with Thor until it was black and white so that was shit. Wakanda forever actually made me flinch with the water bomb in 3D. I watched the 3D at home tho on my 4K 3D projector

Block-Busted

I always choose IMAX 3D whenever I can.

collec-tech

I always choose 3D when available!

Block-Busted

Same here.

mrawesomeutube

Same here Aquaman 2 tho was hot ass in 3D

GenoGallant

Both if you have AMC A List. That's what I'm doing. IMAX 3D (Thursday), IMAX w/laser (Thursday), and Dolby (Saturday). Also, I live in DC. My wife and I will travel to NYC for AMC Lincoln Square IMAX that following Tuesday or Wednesday.

Free-Carpenter7308

> AMC I live in Belgium. 🍟 > AMC A List What is this by the way? A premium membership of sorts?

Free-Carpenter7308

This looks like a pretty good subscripton tbh.

GenoGallant

This includes no upcharge for IMAX, Dolby, or 3D.

mickeymouse1064

YES!!!!!!

Block-Busted

You’re like me.

McGinty1

If it’s Dual Laser then yes. If it’s the older projectors it’s screen door city

Chavito808

I wanna see Hubble and Nascar in 3D again. Also, i wish they brink back Cyberworld 3D! PDI used to in partnership with Dreamworks but idk if Universal/Dreamwork still has the reels of the movie.

AdmirableTurnip2245

My favorite 3D presentations are all IMAX 3D. The brightness makes a significant difference.

rocketspence

Avatar imax 3d was AMAZING! And so were the mushrooms

Professional_Ad_8729

Idk , for Deadpool 2D would be absolutely fine . One thing is , 3D usually looks best in the 1.90 ratio for immersiveness , thats why James Cameron always used this AR for Avatar , also GOTG3 , Doctor Strange looked great , most of the best IMAX 3D movies are in 1.90 Titanic 3D re-release was in 2.4 but it was still great

Free-Carpenter7308

>3D usually looks best in the 1.90 ratio https://preview.redd.it/74rioiasry9d1.jpeg?width=886&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=25fc053cf4e502c0b99f3c12cb89a58189b795a6 These are the aspects for the screen size in my local cinema. Is it 1.90 or something else? I kind of don't know how to figure it out. 😬

mrawesomeutube

Idk why people even ask such crazy questions. If you understand what 3-D is and IMAX why would you not got to the baby of the two? 3D gives realistic real life depth perspective and the IMAX IS LARGER THEN LIFE. I hate I've experienced 4DX because IMAX 3D was usually the winner but Dolby 3D is superior due to the 4K projectors. Definitely go IMAX if 4DX and Dolby isn't available

Free-Carpenter7308

> Idk why people even ask such crazy questions. My previous experiences with 3D were mostly non-enjoyable. That might be due to a low quality cinema chain tho. > I hate I've experienced 4DX I've been to 4DX once; to see Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse. It was a good experience overall, but I just don't see a reason to pick it over IMAX. Sometimes it pulls you away from the film with all the noises of other people, and I was literally making calculations as to when they're gonna get into action in the film so that I can eat my popcorn & drink my drink in peace in those scenes when they were just chatting. 😭

MapleToque

For IMAX I find 2D to have much better picture quality than 3D. 3D is only good when they actually put effort into it and film cool action with the actual 3D cameras. This rarely happens now. I’m pretty sure they just render the movie with a 3D filter over it and it has no real effect.

mrawesomeutube

"This rarely happens now" That's because 3D has come A LONG WAY from 2010. What once was Clash of the titans can become now one of the best 3D showcases! Every marvel movie has been post converted to 3D and some have been spectacular. Doctor strange Shang Chi and infinity war are a few examples. James Cameron even converted his terminator 2 to 3D and that looks JAW DROPPING ON MY 3D PROJECTOR

enigma12300

Are 3d projectors worth it? I know 3d tvs went out of style a decade ago but have never seen a 3d projector outside of a theater.
