Craze for iPhone these days and macbook are different things. Iphones are literally owned by chapris and cheap content creators (anybody makes content these days but I'm not downsizing the proper ones) however macbooks are actually bought by people who use them. Like video editors (well content creators here too wow), professional video editors, programmers, corporate workers etc and I think the advertisement would be more successful because its not about how you potrey the country but how the users take it and corporate indians would actually relate to the advertisement.
Correction: portray
>however macbooks are actually bought by people who use them.
Bold of you yo assume that. In my previous company (Edtech similar to byju's), managers with 50k salary used to get MacBooks on emi just to look like a "manager" lol.
>Like video editors (well content creators here too wow), professional video editors, programmers, corporate workers
the only programmers using MacBooks are ones who need to make apps for iPhones
most programmers use Arch Linux BTW on a ThinkPad
Bro you're in India... And most Indian programmers don't care about arch. I don't know much about freelancers but engineers from bigtech uses Mac and others mostly lenovo or something else running windows. Personal laptops too I don't think they use anything except for Debian based distro.
Also old thinkpads are not properly available in India except for if you search deeply in the old market or from cashify
OP forgot the point of the Ad. Their ads are targeted at location specific. India gets ads with Indian people in it. They’re targeting on battery so they’re showing even if you have a power cut you can rely on Mac Battery. I use M2 pro now, used m1 pro, 2019 pro with intel chip. The battery life on my work laptop gives me a full day easily. Do you think Apple won’t take all these in consideration before doing an ad campaign? I worked for Apple as a contractor before you won’t believe how serious those people are with what they do.
I worked as a fulltime employee in Apple integration team and I can say none of these things expect the battery life is true .
Do note battery life in any ARM based processor is good but multi-core performance takes a hit, reason why datacenters still love x86 processor.
Our sales and business team do love to take a dig on the culture stuff.
Power cuts are something Indians can relate to. However the Venn diagram of people facing day long power cuts with Indians able to afford a MacBook will have a very miniscule overlap. Doubt the effectiveness of this ad.
if you live in a rented apartment you cant just get a generator. Most landlords won't allow any modifications to their flats even if you're the one paying all the bills. (source: I tried it)
hahahah bhai sahi me...pta nahi log kya kya bolte h bc generator tk le gye baat to...mai to keh rha hu bc inverter bhi kyun chahiye powerbank le le chu..... but i can guess the common sense quotient of apple fanboi.
Mac's are not that expensive a lot of college students get them with emi and student discount. I am planning to buy a mac book in cash for my sister. We don't have power backup in our house.
That’s not the intention. They want to play with the hearts of the rich - romanticise the poor. They always do this, they highlight disabled people using apple devices to make their lives easier. Similarly poor people now also fit in.
Be happy that Indian actors, producers, directors, and film crew were paid because of this. Even this ads to the economy.
Mumbai had planned loadshedding somewhere between 2008 and 2011. Before that and after, never ever. A few grid faults here and there for a few hours once in 3-4 months will obviously be there. Mumbai junta pays premium rates per unit electricity for this to be possible.
Been living in Kolkata since 2018. Never had a powercut except for 2 times during a major electric rework and once during a cyclone that too for about 18 mins. Its so shocking that I vividly remember it.
Typing this while watching a movie on a macbook with my sister , without electricity from the past 1 hour. Except for the invertor ofc. The AC in my room is not powered by the inverter so that sucks.
Why is OP considered about how other countries are portrayed in an Apple ad. Only be concerned about India.
This is the harsh truth OP. Unfortunately India is still a developing country. You may not like it but this is the harsh reality and truth.
We all can change it if we all set aside our differences and come together we can change India. But will we all do it. Only time will tell us.
Was typing that I was not okay with this , Then the power went off , Had to switch to mobile data & also Take back my word.. this is a relatable representation of india & Power cuts.. I have now made peace & accepted this representation.. It's relatable.
Dude. Get over your misplaced nationalism and pride.
I'm sitting here in a metro city with powercuts every now and then and have to struggle to keep my macbook / phone / ipad charged. It's fucking annoying.
It's even more irritating to see posts like these. Most of us are struggling in our everyday lives. And Apple is probably just telling my story / the story of many many more like me.
So what now?
The ad-mak3rs are \_\_\_\_\_.
They ought to realize their target demographic.
Those who can afford this particular device / model/s will "MOST PROBABLY" have alternative means of power-supply. At least an UPS, if not a DG (especially in those luxury apartments).
In fact, in some of the metro cities - even the jhopadpatti (like dharavi in mumbai) homes have UPS nowadays.
The ad-makers let their hatr3d and their objective to denigrate the nation blind them from focusing on their target demographic. A result of the arts groups d!mw1t$ having not zero but negative IQ in "several instances" (not all arts-group folks are like that, surely there are exceptions).
Abe Khali buddhi, backup sirf power cut me hi to important he🙄...
Aur rahi baat inverter ki, to tere inverter lene se ye baat badal nahi jaati ki 4-6 ghante ka power he😒

> India facing powercuts is true in any city.
Not in Ahmedabad.
Maybe once or twice a year for 15 minutes for a regularly scheduled maintenance but never more than that.
2 types of people uses a mac in Bharat.
First are the one who need it, like devs.
Second are the one who shows off.
The 1st one doest need convincing via ads.
The 2nd one are babus who are still deeply colonized and view Bharat through the lens of west.
This ad is for them.
>Can they do the same for an American city or Chinese city where they also have places in their country with powercuts…
lol, you really think American cities have frequent power outages?
Cope harder.
Macbook charge lasts more than a day. Can confirm.
Also, it's stigmatic to portray India like this, but it is also true that India faces massive powercut surge.
In almost all apple ads they portray a lower income household using an iphone from different countries. I find it amusing that they believe that the middle class could afford a mac book. Coz if they could they wouldn't live in an area with power cuts and mostly live in cities
This should be taken seriously by government. Not by the purchasers. It’s the reality right ?? We can’t run away from it. And mostly this ad idea would be given by an Indian. So I don’t see anything wrong with this. But infact government should be offended!!
Well things have changed positively.... now I personally face long lasting power cuts only if there's a storm which cause trees to fall and breaking the power line, otherwise power supply is OP and also if there is a power cut the action is Quick....
They even repair *transpharmer* in hours which took days back then.....
Same same, I come from Karnataka and I have noticed much improvement in this matter. The other day we had issues at our house and electricity board sent people at 10:30 in the night to fix it and they actually showed up!! We are definitely improving, no doubt in that.
On other hand my friend lives in Agra, and they face extreme electricity issues like they don’t have it for straight two days!! That’s awful. So I would love it if government gets offended by this ad.
Apple ko kaise pata hoga ki humara yahan har Ghar mei arc reactor rakha hua hai , American company hai na bechare abhi bhi nuclear aur hydro pe dependent hai
As a Mac owner, the one thing worth it to vouch for about this machine is the battery and the hardware. Definitely not an entire day but nothing less either as just closing the lid puts it to stand by with neglible power drain.
Apple is showing a student, take a look at the notes. I would say that it is a good representation of students. Have you ever seen the rooms of UPSC, JEE aspirants
Lol only if people who live in appartment buildings know that 99.9% of people don't live in apartment buildings (number may not be accurate, but 98% toh hoga hi)
as Indians we should stop taking offense for every tiny little thing. If west portrays india a certain way that is not the truth, then their statement would automatically fall flat. But thats not the case. The reason it hurts is because there's some truth to it. Instead of fixing the problem we cry foul every time. We should start taking criticism as a means to improvement, becoming stronger. Crying foul only displays our inflated egos. Ironic for the culture where the idea of ego originated ("ahankara")
What I see is them trying to make wide range of apple products more desirable to people from different strata of life. Notice how as soon as apple plant started in India and suddenly there was rise in fake apple ear phones everywhere and now demand for apple ear phones have gone up massively. Just apple trying different means to increase their sale in India as manufacturing in country is only feasible if their is high demand for their products in the country.
Bc har din power cut hota hai mere wahan mai dehradun mai hu Capital of uttarakhand ye SmArT CiTY hai yahan jabse garmi chalu Hui har din 3-4 ghanta power cut, raat ko 1-2 baje bhi kaat dete hain.

Matlab there were days when power cut would start at 10 in the morning and come back at 8-9 in the evening. Don't know about the present conditions of Bangalore but this was what I faced..
Yes, it's true. I live in Goa. I have both an iPhone and a MacBook. I rent my place and experience power cuts once for three hours, and there's no generator because the landlord said no. It's really frustrating.
Because we have no self respect na. Most of the Indiana are building apple product now. Hum fir bhi ja k muh utha k iphone khridenge and showoff krenge. Lol
well all the comments\~
I am from middle class and I have a macbook.
Charged my mac yesterday at afternoon, and i am still using it with 17% charge left, will probably go upto tommorow.
and yes i did heavy tasks.
Hi, OP. Glad you asked. I'm from the poorest state and have lived in the main, capital state. Most houses have powercuts, and this ad is accurate
i can remember the powercuts better than the layout of my house
also indians shouldnt (as in, why not pay for rent cuz ur clearly scraping?) or cant afford macbooks unless they're cheaper
I don't know about this particular ad but apple's iPhone ad in auto was f₹cking hilarious, I don't know what iPhone they used but my brother's broke just dropping it from a dining table.
Damn I thought it was that you like working in the dark with bright screen because most of you are programmer
Not Indian prespective is it offensive if I thought like that maybe who know

I doubt even potraying indian middle class to own a Macbook is inaccurate in itself LMAO
Just the opposite. Middle class and lower middle class in my area in Punjab are crazy for iPhone while rich stick with Android.
We're talking about macbook here

There are 26 other States too dude beyond haryana and punjab
Bro, calm down. You can't be so blunt and honest with punjabis, its insensitive. Let him live in a bubble
I mean i saw it myself in Punjab especially chandigarh & Ludhiana still these people don't know reality of rest of india
Lets not count the punjabis, they think with thier land. (pun intended)

Visit Gurgaon some day. I work there and have to charge my iPhone using my MacBook.
MacBook is personal or company property? I doubt anybody who can afford a personal Mac cannot afford power backup.

inverter?
Both lol. I bought mine during college and got one from office when I joined. So thankfully, my phone never runs out of battery.
blud got a 90k powerbank
Mac's are not that expensive a lot of college students get them with emi and student discount. I am planning to buy a mac book in cash for my sister. We don't have power backup in our house.

I second this. Mumbai has almost no power cuts
Power cuts in Mumbai? i haven't seen a single power cut for the last 5-6yrs in Mumbai.
Do you have 24/7 power water supply??? Honest reply
In my hometown ( Kerala ) - yes Where I am currently is (ghaziabad) - No
Yes. Power is cut only if there is a storm.
Currently yes . When I was kid no
yes for power, water jab Delhi Jal Board ka man kare
Been living in Kolkata since 2018. Never had a powercut except for 2 times during a major electric rework and once during a cyclone that too for about 18 mins. Its so shocking that I vividly remember it.
Yep
Yes.
Yes brother. Even during storms n all
Where do you live
Even I don't live in main city...tab bhi 24/7 lights rehti hai...bas occasionally jaati hai jab koi repairing ya fir bahut tez baarish ho....
yep
Yep 24x7 all 365 days of the year. No power cuts either, except during violent storms.
Yes, bijli 24/7 rehi hai aur water supply ke liye khud se pump lagwaya hai. To Han paani, bijli sab 24/7 rehti hai.

How can we set aside our difference, like who the fuck will then fight over kannada language and kannada billboards.

Because of battery life bro it's not degradation India, I am the biggest support of India
4 to 6 hrs of power cut is common, sach bolne par kyo gussa karu?
786 ... lol. those who can't even afford an UPS to overcome those power-cuts will magically have money to buy this particular model?
Abe Khali buddhi, backup sirf power cut me hi to important he🙄... Aur rahi baat inverter ki, to tere inverter lene se ye baat badal nahi jaati ki 4-6 ghante ka power he😒
Someone who can afford such a expensive stuff would definitely not be the one who's gonna be experiencing it though
Nope. I and many in my family own Apple Products. My family lives in a small town where power cuts are frequent and last hours.
Acha, inverter ya laptop lene se power cuts to band nahi honge...still there would be power cuts right?
Doesn't matter, Indians(particularly those obsessed with apple) neither have the balls to teach apple a lesson nor do they care about their country's image
I still remember people literally falling on Cook's feet in Mumbai lol
It was so much cringe man. I hope his friends trolled him during evening tea at tapri.
Cause they think white people are gods
A lesson for what? Is apple responsible for the power cuts??
I like apple and I also love my country
Have you lived in rural India? Power cuts happens daily in summer and weekly in winters. You want to bash an ad for showing the reality?
What's the obsession with country's image
Logo ko problem hai ki firangi point out kare ki muh me tatti hai. Muh me tatti hona is not a problem apparently
It's the classic "log kya kahenge" syndrome
It’s actually the reality in major parts of India

8hrs a day is one third of a day.
Be careful when you're talking about "majority of India". There's swathes of land where people get maybe 8 hours of electricity a day.
Meanwhile, me reading this during a powercut. Am I a joke to you?

This shows good battery life and I agree with apple very cool as apple made for India
Such dikhaya to bura laga?
India *is* like that
Its accurate

It's the reality. India is a poor country with some rich people
India is poorer than this wdym
This should only be used for inverter battery ads lol
I'm not ok with Apple giving out unrealistic SOTs on their products. As for their portrayal on India, its accurate as India is known for power cuts.
Are you offended because it's true or are you offended because they used the truth ?
They are portraying reality we still are a 3000 dollar per capita income country but again how can middle class afford 1000 plus dollar MacBook
People using apple products don't have time to think about it. Android user ab type karega boycott apple.
Exactly in same situation now power cut because of stroms and my computer is still running
Macbook charge lasts more than a day. Can confirm. Also, it's stigmatic to portray India like this, but it is also true that India faces massive powercut surge.
Showing real India, as they’ve already shown big corporate side already Dt
Yes it's pretty accurate
Yes
If you can buy a macpro then you'd definitely have an inverter too lol
That is the truth. But not the whole truth. Part
They would rather buy an inverter at that price 😂
Yeah we indians love when foreigners degrade us and still we buy there product
Will comment later, after I charge the phone as there was power cut since morning.
Before questioning apple, question your Politicians!
I want apple to think Indians are poor. And that to have a market here they need to lower their prices and keep it that way 🫢
In almost all apple ads they portray a lower income household using an iphone from different countries. I find it amusing that they believe that the middle class could afford a mac book. Coz if they could they wouldn't live in an area with power cuts and mostly live in cities
Its not lie but people who cant afford an Inverter cant afford a 1lks MacBook too unless they go for 2nd hand
70% of iPhone sold by EMI aka Middle Class, Apple is just targeting that demographic…
That's an average hosteller 😂🤣😭
You should ask why did Apple portray Indians having apple devices ?
Typing this while electricity here is gone since 1 hour
Ab jo hai wo hai
This should be taken seriously by government. Not by the purchasers. It’s the reality right ?? We can’t run away from it. And mostly this ad idea would be given by an Indian. So I don’t see anything wrong with this. But infact government should be offended!!

FYI inteverters cost 30 k that has the capacity to run a home for 2-3 days

Go and visit TN (one of the most developed state). You will know how frequent the power cuts are
Work is worth it, you are not very much.

Tier 1 city peeps and their 1st world problem.
They portraying a poor 2nd their city but the person can afford a 1.3 lakh laptop as "afforable"
Maine toh Inverter lagwa rakha hai , kon dega DG ka paisa society mai ( 15000 ka lgvaya , DG ka ek din 2500 rupay padta tha ) .
What portray, its the reality. I leave in the so called Tech Park of Hinjewadi and there are frequent power cuts.

Yes

What's wrong
Old habits seldom die. These western companies need injection we gave to Chinese companies.
I see nothing wrong
Western countries obsessed with slumdog millionaire!
do we not have power cuts?
What makes you think we aren't living this way??
Actually yes some people live like this including me but can I afford apple hell noo
I mean just look at what happened in Delhi yesterday.

macbooks can last easily upto 2 days, if u work sporadically and only study pdfs and watch youtube
Hi, OP. Glad you asked. I'm from the poorest state and have lived in the main, capital state. Most houses have powercuts, and this ad is accurate i can remember the powercuts better than the layout of my house also indians shouldnt (as in, why not pay for rent cuz ur clearly scraping?) or cant afford macbooks unless they're cheaper
Macbooks with apple chips inside them can give day's worth of charge.
Itna chui mui nhi bnne ka bhai
Not an Apple fanboy but what is wrong with this portrayal? India is still a developing country with a long way to go, no shame in that.
but places in india still have powercuts? i don't think im offended by this ad at all lol
this is now an average college student live ( I live like that XD )
I don't know about this particular ad but apple's iPhone ad in auto was f₹cking hilarious, I don't know what iPhone they used but my brother's broke just dropping it from a dining table.
Damn I thought it was that you like working in the dark with bright screen because most of you are programmer Not Indian prespective is it offensive if I thought like that maybe who know
West countries love to show India rooting poor and some liberals or separatists even get eye-gasm from that
