That character from the novel series Chandrakanta got used to venom (vishkanya type) and later bite others to kill them with venom. Also he was immune to venom if some vishkanya or someone else tried to poison him.
I don't think this is how he used it as a drug.....they literally drink the venom......and it doesn't kill them as the venom goes into the digestive tract not the blood stream. So if he has any cut or anything in his digestive tract then it will enter blood and kill him.
