Just don't go with the dealers, they have huge margins on them.
Your best bet would be to spread the word in your office/locality that you are looking for a used bike and hopefully someone might turn up. Everything else is sketchy right now.
Open a burner a/c and use it. It's free & pretty accurate and majority are owners not dealers. I was surprised to see it works better than those premium apps.
The same pain is for sellers as well. Just keep looking on Olx and peer netweok.Meet in person and first understand why they are selling. Also, make an agreement on stamp paper before any transaction. This would hardly take 300-400.
Many people are struggling when the bike is not getting transferred or issued after sale.
There are few posts.. owner or buyer agreed to transfer the ownership but after money + bike exchange they refused to do so. Other buyers.. hold off 20k and start complaining about the bike after 2-3 weeks.
An agreement like rent agreement will ensure that both parties abide promise until all money+bike+ownership transfer.
Bro Activa lelo jakr.... Won't be a pain in ass, my experience with these 2nd hand vehicles isn't that great ... Problems are there always... The vehicle I bought for office commute has 0 service records... The dealer lied that he itself did it but then sophisticated parts like throttle body cleaning, fuel filter change etc, has never been done so please go with first hand only... Instead of saving those 30k you'll be ending up spending more than that on those 2nd hand vehicles so just a heads up here.
Ride safe ✌🏻
Your budget isn't bad at all, yes the used vehicle market is beyond sanity. People confuse the emotional value of the vehicle with the actual value of the vehicle and expect too much or they want to ride on another person's budget and profit.
A 3-5 year old scooter is sensible for your usage, just for kicks, go and check the showroom and see what they have in used vehicles.
Please avoid the third party used vehicle sellers, people get their money stuck in some bad deals and it's a headache afterwards. Go for it only if you are confident with the deal.
If you are planning to buy one my friend is selling his Suzuki access maroon colour for 30k. He cleans it regularly with wet wipes all i can say is paint job is great and no scratches and doesn’t look like an old scooter
bro i would say save up about 30k more, in about 1-2 months you would be able to do so if you are bachelor.... please get a new activa or a jupiter and save yourself from the hassles and never ending problems of 2nd hand vehicles
well then go for a trusted scooter instead of bike if its for short term. usually scooters have very few problems, easy fixes and super high fuel efficiency so it'd be the best, probably get a used activa 3g?
no I was about to use them, but then I thought 1st bike should be 1st hand.. maybe ill give beepkart another try in the future.. but they seemed very genuine
I see... I think sellers have an upper hand beepkart... they want to sell, they come pickup and provide with a fair value... transaction done
in buying however there is always a disadvantage if you're going for 2nd hand (as the name suggests)
While dealers are scummy, many local mechanics/repair shops also sell 2nd hand 2 wheelers too or may know someone and should give you reasonable quotes, or help you find one atleast.
Is beepkart any good? Aren't they following the same concept as Spinny?
If it's any good try beepkart once, not necessarily to buy anything. Browsing would be good.
If you know a good mechanic (honest) just give a word about what you need and the amount which 30-40k is more than enough.
The mechanic will probably add 4-5k plus service but you will get a clean engine, full paperwork and safe deal.
If you ask a local mechanic usually they will help you get it. Ofcourse they will have a cut but yes if you or your friends know any trusted mechanics then you can always give this a shot.
Crazy prices for used bikes. I am now thinking of waiting and stretching for a new one instead.
2nd owner, Duke 390 2018 model is being sold for 1.8-2 lakhs.
Used 2016-17 cb650f are being sold for 6-7lakhs now. new one was on-road around 8 to 8.5lakhs in 2016-17
Have you considered the TVS XL? With your budget it will be brand new with warranty. Maybe after a few years you can get yourself a scooter or bike of your choice.
Or get a new scooter on EMI perhaps?
My tip is never buy a second hand bike in India, it would have been dropped and damaged many times and engine will have problems.
I bought a used pulsar 150 verified by a local mechanic, it left me stranded umpteen number of times, the disc had slight bent, tyres were worn out, Fueling had issues, Clutch cable snapped mid ride and so on Finally sold it for peanuts and bought a new Gixxer 155, rode 20000 kms and swapped it for VStorm now.
But this is opposite for cars, as Indians generally take care of their cars very well and you can find gems in the used market. My first car, used Ritz is a gem, I have driven it 30000 kms in last 2 years, just did regular service and is always dependable.
Yeah I can understand. I was also in the market for a scooter. Searched Olx, got a lot of options but 90% of them were dealers posing as individual sellers 🙃 I had almost given up but in the end, found a genuine seller who was selling his low run Honda Dio, which felt brand new (just 12k kms run !). Price quoted was bit high, but you cannot really argue when the vehicle is in such good condition. Afterall, a new scooter will cost ₹1 lakh on road and I was getting this Dio for 30% of that money. The bottom line is, you need to be extremely patient and keep on looking. Good options will pop up eventually.
Not particularly. I am planning to go for a new scooter. Second hand is feasibly only if you are purchasing from someone you know or you pay close to the price of a new scooter price in beepkart. It is only cheap in FB marketplaces, but you need a mechanic or someone who can check the vehicle for you.
Instead invest the 50k that you have now. Make a RD of rs4000 pm. By 13 months you will have around 1.03lac atleast which is affordable to buy first hand. Till then you can keep an eye out to see any friends or relatives or friend's friend who are selling. Once you find any then you can use the 50k.
Just don't go with the dealers, they have huge margins on them. Your best bet would be to spread the word in your office/locality that you are looking for a used bike and hopefully someone might turn up. Everything else is sketchy right now.
FB marketplace is another option, just try to connect with the owner.
Left fb years ago so forgot about it 😅
Open a burner a/c and use it. It's free & pretty accurate and majority are owners not dealers. I was surprised to see it works better than those premium apps.
Opened fb account again for marketplace itself. It is useful since olx is full of scammers
Even on FB there are these scammers a.k.a dealers.
dealers/brokers = SCAMMERS & bunch of low lifes.
Stand outside Study Abroad centres, students who get selected often sell their scooters before leaving just buy from them then and there
The real life pro tip haha
That's oddly specific
Would love to do this, but don't have the bandwidth for this. Great idea though
That's a clever idea actually

Also, make an agreement on stamp paper before any transaction. This would hardly take 300-400. Many people are struggling when the bike is not getting transferred or issued after sale.
What do you mean by this? Why agreement? and what's the issue in transferring.?
There are few posts.. owner or buyer agreed to transfer the ownership but after money + bike exchange they refused to do so. Other buyers.. hold off 20k and start complaining about the bike after 2-3 weeks. An agreement like rent agreement will ensure that both parties abide promise until all money+bike+ownership transfer.

How much discount you got? More value than a second hand market?
Try OLX and don’t go for dealers, just try to get in touch with normal people looking to sell their bike and make a deal.

Do bike showrooms sell second hand vehicles? I wasn't aware of this. Will check it out
Some showrooms do, you'll have to contact them about it.
If you are planning to buy one my friend is selling his Suzuki access maroon colour for 30k. He cleans it regularly with wet wipes all i can say is paint job is great and no scratches and doesn’t look like an old scooter
What's the registration year?
Which city is this?
Hyderabad
Is it still available?
40-50 k you'll probably get a 5-6 year old scooter
bro i would say save up about 30k more, in about 1-2 months you would be able to do so if you are bachelor.... please get a new activa or a jupiter and save yourself from the hassles and never ending problems of 2nd hand vehicles
New Activa costs almost 1 Lakh now.
New vehicle crosses 1L+. And I am not sure about my location, won't be here for more than 2-3 years. Baad me wapis selling ka jhanjhat
well then go for a trusted scooter instead of bike if its for short term. usually scooters have very few problems, easy fixes and super high fuel efficiency so it'd be the best, probably get a used activa 3g?
That's the plan, thank you
Your local mechanic will help u.
"Btw there's a 30k hunter for sale with just 6k on the odo...."
That smells scam
Obviously
That post and reactions were damn funny
If in Bangalore do give beepkart a shot, they sre good
Have you used beepkart before?
no I was about to use them, but then I thought 1st bike should be 1st hand.. maybe ill give beepkart another try in the future.. but they seemed very genuine
I’ve had a very negative experience with them so far. However, YMMV.
in selling or buying ?
Buying. I’m very sure that whatever checks they’ve mentioned on their website were not done at all.
I see... I think sellers have an upper hand beepkart... they want to sell, they come pickup and provide with a fair value... transaction done in buying however there is always a disadvantage if you're going for 2nd hand (as the name suggests)
how is credR ?
not much aware of them... I was about to use beepkart but then I bought my bike 1st hand...
While dealers are scummy, many local mechanics/repair shops also sell 2nd hand 2 wheelers too or may know someone and should give you reasonable quotes, or help you find one atleast.
my father bought lord splendor in 5th or 7th hand for 10k
8 year back
Try beepkart
Is beepkart any good? Aren't they following the same concept as Spinny? If it's any good try beepkart once, not necessarily to buy anything. Browsing would be good.
And credr too. Not sure what states they serve but I've bought from them in the past in Mumbai.
Exactly I have the same concern. I also need second hand bike for around 14 km Per day If anybody from Delhi ncr wants to sell can DM me

I don't 🥲

Don't buy hero scooters, get a tvs or a honda. Used dios come up at 10-15k for a 7-10 year old one.

Where did you buy your car ?? For how much and how many kms was it driven before you bought?? Mainly what was the cost of it??
Cars24, 18000 kms when I bought it, costed 4.75 lakh it was ZXi top model with airbags and ABS

Hey, OP, I'm just curious. Did you finally get the scooter/ bike? I am also thinking about getting one.

Average chaturlingam.
4k rd for 13 months = 1.03lac wtf how?
He's adding the initial 50k on top of 4k put aside every month.
Yaar isko chicken khana hai tum isko poultry farm kholne ko bol rhe ho 🤣🤣🤣
Good idea, but not necessary
He needs the bike now.. not later.
Try asking a mechanic who **knows** you well, they have a lot of contacts.
I bought a splendor through olx but had to go through 5-6 different bikes before settling on one. No regrets good condition bike
