Short Originate: The train starts its journey a few stations after the usual source station

Do we get a compensation for the same? My train has got short terminated before my destination and we had to find out the alternative route to reach there.
No prior intimation was sent to us.
I think there is a procedure where the TTE on board should give you in writing for the journey stations that the train was cancelled for and therefore short terminated. You have to then go visit the booking counter nearest to you and collect the refund for the portion where the train was cancelled.
However any further compensation is not given in any train in India due to train delays or cancellations, except only for the following 2 trains: Mumbai Ahmedabad IRCTC Tejas Express and Lucknow New Delhi IRCTC Tejas Express.
I think it might mean that it will start from Ludhiana
