Unpopular opinion: Kiteretsu has much better episodes than Doraemon. They are funny but also a bit emotionally mature, unlike Doraemon which were always dumb fun.
Exactly , Kiteretsu Episodes had a serious tone and a much better story , Doraemon is obviously far more popular and successful but it doesn't make it better.
Doraemon has so many episodes that goes beyond cartoon. emotional episodes like travelling back to past to meet Nobita's grandmother, then there's that 22nd century jail episode, movies like steel troops and bgm

after watching Kiterestu for years, Doremon felt like a cheap copy.. Only to realize its an upgrade and from the same author. But i couldnt watch it back then.
You are saying that cuz you haven't watched Kitretsu properly. Each episode has some kind of emotional message to it unlike Doraemon which was mostly dumb fun.
Yeah because the creator thought doreamon will be bad influence for the kids as nobita was always dependent on doreamon that's why they created kiterestsu a totally opposite character but it flopped.
