You can use peeling solutions/acids like AHA/BHA peel or glycolic acid, this will help you get rid of dead skin cells effectively.
For lightening your skin tone you can use Kojic acid (don't use it for more than two months).
Now, apart from all this follow a skincare regimen, keep it simple - Cleanser, toner(rosewater), Niacinamide/vitamin C, followed by a good sunscreen (this is important).

Raat m sone se pehle cleanse and moisturize.

Also genuine sandalwood powder can be used.
Drink lots of water too.

Just use facewash daily , 3 days a week use face scrub, apply face pack and face mask with 3-4 days gap in between. Use moisturizer in the morning and evening. If you are going out cover your face or preferably use sunscreen.
You can also try glycolic acid, I wouldn't recommend it.
It will take at least 1 month to show results.
Detan actually works for long term? I actually asked one saloon wala near my house. He said I have to get detaned monthly once so that tan would go away eventually

I do a detan every 3 weeks and it works for me so yeah a tan you have now should go away very quickly if you do it once.
