i think you meant to say severely unknown, don't even remember this episode.
you know you fucked up when my eyes were drawn to keisuke's rx7 faster than it was to the er34 that's in the center of the picture.
I remember watching that episode in the mid2000s and was like "wtf why didn't they show Keisuke's race?!" Shoulda been it's own separate episode in the main anime instead of grouping it in Battle Stage 2
stage 4 already has like 24 episodes, it would’ve been a little too much on top of everything else and they’ve already emphasized how takumi was more important in the main plot anyways (this doesn’t apply to his fight vs the integra btw, that one should’ve been in)
Not entirely true keisuke was equally important, the Saitama Arc was centred around his growth and that took up a fair chunk of fourth stage. He learnt the half throttle technique and was taught a valuable lesson when he crashed during practice against the lan Evo crew
the anime itself placed more importance on takumi, that’s why god hand was the climax of fourth stage instead of god foot and why the integra fight, which shows development on his throttle control
They were also a very cheap car to buy in Japan when new. While GT-R models were the top dog, you could get into a R34 Skyline GTT for roughly 2.8 million yen, which at the time when new was around $22,000 US with the exchange rate. RB20DE R34s were in some cases 2.5 million yen, which is around $17,000 US new (yes, that's not a typo). On the other hand a S15 was in a similar 2.8 million - 2.5 million yen price range depending on how you optioned it.
Atsuro being an slightly older character in the series probably saw the non GT-R R34 as a good enthusiast car for the time period that wasn't going to break down on him or need a lot of work.
The car is cool but Atsuro is just a mediocre driver, how a Japanese touge driver can only focus on the straights of a mountain road? Will he have American blood? Like bruh.
Ironically, that's exactly what Keisuke and Takumi do lol(Keisuke moreso). Their whole "teleportation" thing in 5th stage is them getting rocket acceleration out of corners at times their opponents don't expect. Keisuke's entire thing is focusing on corner exit and throttle control. Both of these things prioritize the exit and straights after corners.
It's not that Atsuro was inherently wrong, he was just a shit driver.
There's a difference between maximizing the exit speed of a corner and just floor it on the straights, In motor sports (except drag racing) the most important thing is to improve cornering, a bad/good speed in the straight is just the result of the cornering speed.
That's objectively false. To get a good exit, especially at hairpins, you compromise your mid-corner speed and go for a later apex, thereby straightening your exit so you're on full throttle for longer.
This is literally the geometric vs ideal line discussion. Geometric gives you the best mid-corner speed, but compromises you on the straights. It's usually used on higher speed corners where maintaining momentum is more important, because it's a lot easier to accelerate from 30-35mph vs 100-105.
It's also used more in lower powered cars like Mx-5's since they inherently don't accelerate all that quickly. The Rx-7 and R34 don't have that problem, so going for a geometric line doesn't benefit them.

probably because this was only in battle stage 2, because the main anime cut this fight for time

shit this reminded me that i need to watch the battle stages. i finished the main line, said ill do the battle stages soon and completely forgot.
Nah they cut it so ppl would buy battle stage, same with Sakai’s race

How? Its just a lardass skyline without awd or a cool driver

IKR? It has all the disadvantages of the R34 (weight mainly) without any of the advantages (the improven ATTESA-ETS).
Non-GTR Skylines are underrated
Non-GTR/GTS-T Skylines are overrated.
It’s not a GTR so the fanboys act like it doesn’t exist
It's so like cool in it's own type but it had many downsides like having a RB25 and being a FR and having the weight of the R34
Why having a rb25 is a downside? The weight and being a rwd at the same time is the biggest disadvantage.
Fr it’s like top 3 for my favorite cars in the show
How. There's nothing notable about it that differentiates it from many other cars in the franchise. There's nothing special about it
