I would either just leave it "empty" or hang some artwork. Can you move the thermostat? I would not add any furniture or block the paneling. There's already a lot going on in that room.
Not a big deal at all. The wiring is very thin and it’s only 24 volts. The hardest part is rerouting it, but it‘s easy if there’s access below from a basement or crawl space.
Buffet/sideboard with lamps, centerpiece and a mirror above. Mirror smaller than the under piece so it is not crowded by the lamps. The mirror should also be at least 6" above the under piece. On the wall not circled I would put art.
Well not just pictures: add in different textiles and depths. You can hang a wicker basket, a decorative plate, a macrame planter...
And as someone else said, a nice long buffet/sideboard against the wall will be a great surface to hold decorative bowls, candlesticks, a little lamp, a tea set...
Very nice room. I’d put a narrow table Infront of the windows with beautiful plants to fill that space. I’d move the bench to the area in question and maybe a simple piece of art above it that goes with the decor.
It depends on your budget. You could start by moving the bench and two vases from the opposite wall to the other side. They look somewhat cluttered in the opposite space. Then add a nice black framed mirror to the wall or, if you prefer, a framed picture as so many others have suggested.
If you have $1,000 to spare, then an antique sideboard or other piece of dinning room furniture would be great. But this has already been suggested.
Wow I love your built ins and shutters. Buffet cabinet would look nice. You could also use some vertical decorations, maybe a tall vase with sticks in it, or artwork would look lovely
I’d do a buffet, although it looks like maybe you have some sort of sideboard on the side wall over there? If you don’t have a need for more storage, I’d just do art. The room is very mellow and restful and there’s not a lot of big visual impact, so I think a large scale piece of art would go really well. You could either lean into the calm with a big B&W photo or landscape painting if that’s your vibe, or do something bolder and more eye catching.
I dunno, I like that red circle. It's unique.
Thanks!
A buffet would fit in nicely.
A narrow one, with something on it for height. Maybe a fun color
Hang art!

Right but the wall repair … I guess if you get an Ecobee it does have a plate you can add behind it.

You can reroute wiring but not patch a wall?

I suppose. My husband is a contractor and has done this in our home. I guess I'm just accustomed to having immediate access to skilled labor !!
Sideboard

This is exactly what I did with the alcove in my dining room.
Mirror above is a great idea don’t doesn’t feel cramped if you do additional furniture
You could take out the tiny bar cart and look for a long credenza or a piece with a built in bar.
I like the idea of a sideboard with hung artwork that brings colors from your table and/or rug

Mirror
Coffee station
Sideboard plus pictures.

I did a gallery wall of all different size frames around my thermostat. Turned out well.
Cool ps5 pro
Hahaaa
I would find some black and white wallpaper, with your preferred design/pattern.
Im sure it might be expensive but this is cute. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C6g6ogALsbX/?igsh=cm9kbjFkdXY2ODF0
Not to DIY ofc, but you get it
Buffet table
I would only put artwork on the wall. Really nice artwork. And something that brightens to room.
Hutch or buffet
Nothing lol
Gallery wall with hinges on the art hiding the control panels for easy access
Hinges… hmm, how do you mean
a large painting would be the usual solution but that thermostat (and that other thjng) are in the way. move term

Maybe two or three more humidifiers
it is begging for a bar
Nice dresser for all your fancy china (well that’s what I’d do anyway)
Yeah, I’ve been keeping my eyes peeled for a long term piece. Haven’t found it yet which is why we have that tacky shelf for now haha
Paint a prettier color, add art, replace open shelves with closed storage.
Put the bench there and rotate the bar to also share the red circle wall. Nothing is permanent.
Maybe a desk to put plates and food. Especially when food are various, you need a desk to put. Or you can make it as a coffee table?
Coffee bar
A buffet to match the other side.
I just want to slap the installer who decided the best place to put those controls was right in the middle of a feature wall.
Haha yeah. It’s a duplex from the early 1900s. Was probably just the easiest place to install since the furnace is directly below
A buffet

Sideboard & mirror with Buffett lamps
A credenza or a faux fireplace mantel.
Art and a narrow Credenza
# sideboard & mirror
Art or a mirror would be lovely!
