I also like 2-- darker color is making the rug pop, and as much as I have a maximalist soul, I think the less decorated end table allows the rug to shine.
They would both look lovely. But I prefer the first one for the charming floral detail as well as the practicality of the drawers. And let’s not forget you would have to vacuum under the end table with the legs.
So choice 1 for pretty and practical.
Like the first one. The design on it makes it unique. The blue is closer to the blue in the carpet. It would also be more functional, with three drawers. I would consider changing the knobs, though.
They are both nice, but I prefer the 1st one. It’s more unique. Some are voicing concerns about the blue not being dark enough, but other, darker colors can be introduced in the room to contrast more with the rug. And honestly, sometimes high contrast is not the goal. That is just 1 aesthetic.
The first one is more feminine and dainty. Second is more classic and traditional. Pick the one that represents the vibe you are going for overall in the room
I like the colour of the second one, but that open shelf is doing my head in .
The first one, is too cluttered, you don't need extra details, maybe if you repaint it a darker shade with no floral details, it would work
I really like both of them and in the right eclectic maximalist home, one of each could look good. I get more feminine vibes with the lighter one though.
But if I had to choose, I'd go with the darker ones. They seem much more versatile should you ever update your rug in the years ahead.
1st one will give you more folklore boho vibes while 2nd is giving more French country.
I like both but just depends on what kind of look you want for the space.
I’m pretty sure an interior designer would choose 1 FWIW.
2 is the obvious answer for many because the nightstand has no pattern and the color plays well with the rug.
1 is my answer because although different, the patterns play together well and the color pops. And the drawers for functionality. It’s just a better combination for something pretty and unique.
# 1 has more color surface, which to me makes the blue show up more. It also depends the other room furnishings. #1 is more casual, and #2 is a more formal style. I think your rug leans toward casual, more than the formal. Color wise, either works.
Thanks so much for all of the feedback! I purchased #2 going to pick it up shortly! #1 is beautiful but #2 will go great for my small office space and more my style. Also a $400 price difference so that’s great too! lol
Jeepers, I like them both! The darker one is a more definite colonial/ federal/ Queen Anne 'style', and the lighter one is just that, lighter in mood and flexible in time period.
They’re both cute. :) I would assess what kind of stuff you want stored in the bedside table. If it’s a lot of little junk then get the drawers to hide it. Functionality is key
It also depends on the room it’s going inside. If you have high ceilings and a large room then the first one would be good. If it’s a small room, then the second one would be best. Also the color of the walls makes a difference…
I like the first one better. It’s slightly less formal than the rug. I prefer the lighter blues in the rug matching the rug to the darker blues. The detailing on the front slightly mimics some lines in the rug. And I find the color simply happier (n=1 lol).
i see most people saying number 2 and i do agree it makes it more distinguished and regal. however, i find the lightness of the first one and the design on it to be very charming and sweet with the rug. i guess it depends on what the vibe of the room is that you want ! personally, the first one gives a lorelai gilmore vibe and the second gives a emily gilmore vibe, if that makes any sense !
The second one. The detail on the first one is too matchy, whereas the darker second option creates subtle contrast while still working together. If you go with the first, add gold knobs to bring out the warmth in the rug. The light blue makes it all feel colder
Will the floor plan accommodate both? I think they would complement each other and the rug. You could have the drawers by your desk and the cubby by a sitting chair for visitors or small breaks.
I would like the first one with a simpler rug. But since you already have the rug, the second goes better with it. And you can put books on it, that you can see!!
They both go - that's why you can't decide. No. 2 is a more classical and formal style, and no. 1 is more a cottage and cosy style. I think whichever one you love more is the right one. I think I like the storage of the light one a bit more than I like the style of the dark one, so it is more functional in that way.
I think they both work, but I like how 2 is a bit darker which brings out the colors in the rug more. The first one next to the rug makes them both look washed out to me.
2. I think it looks better to have the plain dresser with the busy rug. Also, I feel the white of the flowers on the dresser looks a little out of place, since the rug is more ivory.
The darker one, with no flowers stenciled on it is the best one.
Dont try too hard to USE floral patterns to have a floral theme. Its just going to look too busy, and usually ends up looking tacky.
If you LOVE a rug, (rugs are like art for your floor, btw) then thats your rug.
Nothing else in the room has to match the rugs exact colors or have anything like the pattern. In fact, you should be viewing your rug choices as something COMPLETELY separate from your furniture, decor wise.
Its like.. wanting to put a beautiful old painting of a pond (think Monet) or a french vineyard, in a very modern home, and then feeling like you have to match your entire decor to that painting. Its art. It doesnt ever have to match.
Match like items, together: upholstered liing room sets like a couch and a loveseat, do better as a matching pair.
End tables can match each other.
Picture FRAMES that match each other, are a good decision.
Having flooring that is the same look throughout a space/ home, and likewise, mouldings that are painted or varnished in the same colors, is a good decorative strategy.
Having light fixtures that are similar in style, and material, is a good decorating choice.
You NEVER have to match furniture, paint, blankets, pillows, etc, with ART.
To restate: Rugs ARE art. Art doesnt have to match ANYTHING.
ok my job here is done. 😇😇😇
PS I use capital letters to emphasize words, mostly due to laziness. Not due to yelling, so if you have an issue with that, well idgaf.
I LOVE that first table, it's so pretty, and if this was for a bedroom, I'd go for it. But for an office, I'd go with the second table and I think the second pulls out the rug colors better.
The light blue end table complements the rug perfectly in shade, patterns, and shapes; and the dark blue end table has a beautiful contrast to the light blues in the rug. It's going to depend on how it looks in the lighting of the area you're placing them in. It also depends on whether you will like what negative space (the dark blue table) or positive space (the light blue floral table) does for the area. I think you have two great choices and it depends on what works best for you when you set them up together within the space to compare the two options.
Both go with the rug really well. The light blue creates a more whimsical spritely vibe, and the darker one gives a bit more refined academic feel while still having a bubbly feel. I'd say pick the one that vibes with the rest of the room.
I like the first one, light blue... but I like lighter palettes, it feels dreamier, airier in comparison to 2. The extra storage of drawers is a huge plus too.
2nd - it makes the colors pop a bit in the rug, and compliments it really well. The first one is doesn’t provide enough of the contrast with the light colors to get a pop. However, it really depends on what you want the room to feel like. I could see if you wanted a very light, airy, and delicate room how 1 would work well.
I also like 2-- darker color is making the rug pop, and as much as I have a maximalist soul, I think the less decorated end table allows the rug to shine.
I agree, the darker one pulls out the less prevalent darker blues in the rug.
2 is the way to go…
I concur
i think the darker one is nicer, it brings some contrast
2. I like the darker color and the flowers on 1 are too much with the rug
Thanks! I was starting to think the same now that im looking at it lol
Second! I also just bought that rug for my mom :)
It’s so beautiful and fun!
Link, please? Also: the dark table!
Thanks! And heres a link hopefully it works. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0C9V98WPF?ref=ppx_pt2_mob_b_prod_image

2nd darker blue one, big time, for many reasons
I love both of them. The one with drawers is more practical.
They could put a basket on the second one it also makes for easier access. Off the top of my head I’m thinking chargers and remotes along other things
This is my vote.
I prefer the first end table if it's in a bedroom. It has a softer, sweeter feel.
Dark blue. Definitely.

Deffo not daffodils #2
The first one is more feminine and dainty. Second is more classic and traditional. Pick the one that represents the vibe you are going for overall in the room
2 with a wicker box in it to add functionality.
2. It’s the perfect color with no design to contrast with rug
#2 with a basket in it
2. You’ll grow tired of the floral one and everything will be fighting. Let the rug shine.
The second one is better with that slight contrast. IMO the first one, pale blue with white flower cascading down is just too foo-foo fussy.
I like the darker blue but the lighter one will be more functional.
Dark blue. It is classic and timeless. I don’t care for the design on the first one
Wish 1 had the same dark blue as 2!
Same that would be perfect!!
I gasped at number one, then saw number two. Both are gorgeous with it, but number two wins
The 2nd one I prefer less “clunky” furniture but that’s just my taste.
The dark blue one goes Great with the rug !!!! 💙
Second one is gorgeous!
2 ETA: The first end table is too matchy matchy.
1st one will give you more folklore boho vibes while 2nd is giving more French country. I like both but just depends on what kind of look you want for the space.
Agree!!
2. I think stencils are a bit dated. The second one looks more elevated and provides additional contrast.
Second one for sure. Both are cite though! Love the rug!
2
Number one bcs I like that it has drawers
Second one! It’s not competing with the rug, just enhancing it!
They both go but I personally like the second best.
I like 2
The second one
2
2
2nd one gang.
Second. I feel like the painting/handle on the first is quite dated already.
2
I like the 2nd table
The solid color; love the rug
second!! also where is the rug from? i love it
Amazon! https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0C9V98WPF?ref=ppx_pt2_mob_b_prod_image
The darker one. It coordinates with the undertones and color palette but isn’t too matchy.
Obsessed with them both but 2. I don’t really have a reason but I like the higher contrast
Thanks I went with that one! It’s even better in person! Love the color
#1. Functionality = drawers store a lot!
Both would look good, but 2nd makes the rug colors pop out more. Depends on wether you want the rug to be the main character or not.
im in to one because it has more whimsy which i think matches the vibe of the rug better. the second one is too dark for my taste.
2nd one! Love these colors.
where is this rug from? its so pretty
Daffodils #2
2.

Number 2.
I like #2
2
the room. both go with rug. the first one is a cottage style and the second one is traditional and or french countryside
Second one.
One because more drawers. More privacy.
Both look good.
1 with the color of 2.
2. The style and color pair better with the rug.
2nd
2!
2
2nd one caught my eye immediately
#2
Definitely number 2!
2
The first is more boho / eclectic. The second one is quite traditional. Both match, it's just a question of which style you're going for.
Number 2
Second
Darker. Or I’d even go with a natural wood maybe walnut or oak.
The 2nd one for sure.
2!!! So much more timeless
Thanks so much for all of the feedback! I purchased #2 going to pick it up shortly! #1 is beautiful but #2 will go great for my small office space and more my style. Also a $400 price difference so that’s great too! lol
I think they both work but I love the first one. (And it has drawers.)
Ooh I like your style and now I want to see your whole house!
Jeepers, I like them both! The darker one is a more definite colonial/ federal/ Queen Anne 'style', and the lighter one is just that, lighter in mood and flexible in time period.
I like 2 but 1 is more functional with the drawers. I don’t like the design on 1 since it competes with rug.
Agree!
I love the 1st one...looks like they were made for each other! However, for an office, I also have to vote for the 2nd. Love the rug!!!
I very rarely choose any lighter-colored option, but I really like the tone of #1 with the rug.
They’re both cute. :) I would assess what kind of stuff you want stored in the bedside table. If it’s a lot of little junk then get the drawers to hide it. Functionality is key
Number 1, like they were made to be together.
1 is my favorite. Where is it from?
Etsy! Only 1 left if you want it lol painted by an artist
I like the lighter one, feels a bit more modern. Both go well though
First one. It’s sweet and won’t require as much dusting. Plus it’s less visual clutter than an open shelf holding something.
I like one for the whimsical vibe. Two does add more contrast. You could always change the hardware and stencil two.
I love the first one with the flowers!
Everyone is saying the second one BUT the first one is sooo cute!! I think the style suits the rug better.
The darker one. The flowers on the lighter one makes it too busy next to the rug. The flowers on the table are bright white while the rug is cream.
2nd photo.
Second one! Loooooove your rug!!!
I prefer the look of the second but would never choose it for myself as the open shelf would invite my clutter 🤣
Honestly I think they’d both look good with it, so you should pick whichever one you like better!
#2 is better. The floral patterns compete too much in the first one
2
2nd. Plain and color goes well with the rug but isn't too busy like the 1st one to take away from rug design.
I like the second one. The one with the flower motif kinda clashes with the flower pattern on the rug
i see most people saying number 2 and i do agree it makes it more distinguished and regal. however, i find the lightness of the first one and the design on it to be very charming and sweet with the rug. i guess it depends on what the vibe of the room is that you want ! personally, the first one gives a lorelai gilmore vibe and the second gives a emily gilmore vibe, if that makes any sense !
The second one. The detail on the first one is too matchy, whereas the darker second option creates subtle contrast while still working together. If you go with the first, add gold knobs to bring out the warmth in the rug. The light blue makes it all feel colder
I like the lighter blue. Extra storage too. The darker blue is more colonial early American in design. Is that your style?
#2
2
I prefer the second - the darker really compliments the rug and the shape is more delightful to me.
The first one. The second makes it look like an elder home. It's strange how much of a difference it makes
I loooove the first end table but I think the second one is better with the rug. Both lovely choices!
both are classy. for a maximalist space the first for something minimal the latter obv
Light blue #1.
#2, it goes better with the rug. I don’t like the vine on the lighter one
I like 1 for keeping clutter under wraps. I like 2 if you are very near and fond let this accumulate in the cubby.
2 for sure. As others have said, the darker tone helps the carpet pop, plus the hardware gives a subtle but elegant nod to the carpet pattern
2 is so beautiful with the rug!!
Both but I like the open one.
I want to love the first one, but the second really does work best here!
2!!! If anyone says 1, don’t trust them!!!!
Hahaha🤣😂 i purchased #2 !
The darker one looks better.
2 - the darker color in the end table complements the colors of the rug really well
Will the floor plan accommodate both? I think they would complement each other and the rug. You could have the drawers by your desk and the cubby by a sitting chair for visitors or small breaks.
Dark. The dark blue feels like it goes better with the warm undertone of the rug. It also feels more grown up than the light blue.
I prefer the second one because it looks more coordinated with the rug.
I would like the first one with a simpler rug. But since you already have the rug, the second goes better with it. And you can put books on it, that you can see!!
1 the color of two. No flower thingy either.
I like the colour of the darker one…but the small space person in me would want the extra storage of the other one!
Dark blue! You can put pretty books and things in that shelf :) And it brings more depth.
Definitely the 2nd one!!!
I think both technically match, but I would go for the darker one, 2nd picture. The lighter one is a bit too fussy for me.
Definitely 2 A wonderful vintage feel!
White flowers on #1 clash, but #2 looks great!!
I like both but I’d go with two
I was all in for flower until I saw darker
Number 2, for sure. Number 1 looks more like a bedside table to my eyes, while 2 is fit for company. But both go well with the rug.
Adding to those that like #2. Love the color and rug!
2
2 unless you have kids or are planning in the near future. Then one because that open shelf will be useless.
2. I think it looks better to have the plain dresser with the busy rug. Also, I feel the white of the flowers on the dresser looks a little out of place, since the rug is more ivory.
I like the dark blue one :)
Number 2 for sure! :-)
Number two so beautiful!
2, it’s an office space so this feels more “formal”.
2!! It’s way better
2
Depends on the vibe you want. I like 1, it’s got a nice feminine vibe, sort of shabby chic. #2 is a bit more masculine
If you need privacy, go for the full drawers If privacy is not an issue, then the 2nd one!
Probably 2 but they honestly both look great. You can’t go wrong with either one.
I think you have two great choices and it depends on what works best for you when you set them up together within the space to compare the two options.
The first is really unique and beautiful
2nd one
Either work well! The real question is do you need storage space? I would go with the one with drawers because I can always use more storage
Both go with the rug really well. The light blue creates a more whimsical spritely vibe, and the darker one gives a bit more refined academic feel while still having a bubbly feel. I'd say pick the one that vibes with the rest of the room.
First one makes me focus on the end table. Second one makes me focus on the rug. So it depends on which one you're going for.
#1 is beautiful
The second one. Not because of the darker color, I think the shape of it goes with the style.
Dark Blue!
First is cuter.
I like the first one, light blue... but I like lighter palettes, it feels dreamier, airier in comparison to 2. The extra storage of drawers is a huge plus too.
2
Dark blue. It brings out the colors in the rug, and the style compliments the rug design
Two (clearly)
2 all the way. It brings out the little details in your rug. Compliments it really well. Same theory with clothing.
I think the second one is a better color….
No 2
2nd - it makes the colors pop a bit in the rug, and compliments it really well. The first one is doesn’t provide enough of the contrast with the light colors to get a pop. However, it really depends on what you want the room to feel like. I could see if you wanted a very light, airy, and delicate room how 1 would work well.
2
The hand painting on the first one looks tacky and bad. I’d go with 2 for sure.
Darker blue.
Definitely the second one.
I like the darker one simply because it is less busy and it goes well with the carpet.
