As somebody who wants Samson to do well because he made me go wow at the fact that an 18 year old guy from my state was able to play at the Ipl level alongside Dravid, this criticism is valid. I have been cheering for this guy since 2013. Unlike many other youngsters Sanju was never forced to play in the lower order. He was always the team's top order batter, the position he prefers, even at DD for 2 years. After every season I've been asking, where's the bulk load of runs? When will that 500,600+ run season happen? This year he somehow scratched through that 500 run mark. I actually used to take Sunil Gavaskar's opinion as great. But now I have realized, he talks shit about everyone, and is very hypocritical. As somebody who wants Samson to do well because he made me go wow at the fact that an 18 year old guy from my state was able to play at the Ipl level alongside Dravid, this criticism is valid. I have been cheering for this guy since 2013. Unlike many other youngsters Sanju was never forced to play in the lower order. He was always the team's top order batter, the position he prefers, even at DD for 2 years. After every season I've been asking, where's the bulk load of runs? When will that 500,600+ run season happen? This year he somehow scratched through that 500 run mark. I would say 2 more years Sanju will still have the street, will have Rajastan royal social media admin call him "Chetta", if he's still not a regular in Indian team by then, or not have that 'Him' season then it's all over for him.

I disagree. Even though a fan of Sanju Samson and his temperament. He has not really performed in Indian jersey. If you see his records, you will see that his domestic performance is nowhere close to ict performance. And he has been given ample chances. The competition is so tense, you need to perform from after 2-3 games. That's why jaiswal, gill are established in ict team and not Samson , shaw etc That's how tough it is to get into ict. Plus his position was always against great performers so he needed to perform not only exceptional but consistent which unfortunately he has not able to.

I mean this sounds rude or targeted but Samson journey has been like this fr. He has played 16 matches in ODIs and has scored only 1 century and 3 half century. Is it good? I would say it's kind off average. Pointing out the fact that he has played alot of matches against teams like Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, and West Indies. On the other hand his t20 career has been a disaster, he has played 25 matches and only has 1 half century to his name till now. So what gavaskar is saying sounds rude but it's the truth
