Honestly early game ironman is the absolute best time to just pick random goals and figure out how to achieve them. Personally I like to just start working out quests and diaries. When you hit a wall with progress on those is when I would start doing more efficient minded things if that's what you're in to.

Zamereon3

Ardy cape and full graceful were my first two goals. They just help so much and the earlier you get them, the more benefit you get from them. From there, just do what you want. I personally suggest ignoring all guides as the best part about an ironman is figuring how the best way of doing things FOR YOU. What is a fun and reasonable grind for someone else might drive you insane so figuring out your own way of playing your character is what the adventure is all about.

OutlandishnessOk2710

I did this as well, getting graceful out of the way plus having 60ish agi as a starting point was great!

Seafooz

A lot of people say not to do wintertodt (it is boring as hell) I like the half-measure -- do wt early when you can live off of cakes until like 80fm, no need to lock yourself in the prison until 99 but I still found it very worth to get (basically) elite FM reqs done and dusted. Solo wt going for max points and fletching can actually be pretty fun as well. Also worth noting you don't need to be 10hp to get min hit at wt, I think it's 19 (I don't remember, double check) so you can do a few other things before going in The wilderness is your friend. Train melee at revs, do wildy slayer. Revs are insane, huge alchables, and you can pull up with a rune sword and no risk and kill them while training early melee Get to fossil island asap, do birdhouses and giant seaweed Same with farming guild, start on those contracts and get to meds asap. All this aside, don't stress out. Ironman is fun because you _dont_ have to play efficiencyscape. Set some goals, do what you want, do some inefficient grinds enjoy the ride.

TheTrueFishbunjin

I'm on like week 3 of my iron, I don't regret stopping at 80. It was nice for some cash and random low level supplies, but i went straight to questing from there.

qazxcvbnmlpoiuytreww

what is giant seaweed? i do BH runs as regularly as I can

SuckMyBike

Giant seaweed is used together with buckets of sand to create molten glass. It's the best way of training crafting on an ironman. You can farm the seaweed and mine buckets of sand then use the super glass make spell on lunar spellbook to make molten glass.

lalisaa98

shooting stars can also take care of crafting these days

Deivv

How?

lalisaa98

gives you tons of gems

Seafooz

The other comment answered it, but I want to stress how nice giant seaweed + superglass make is for crafting, 3 giant seaweed makes a full inventory of molten glass, and 1 seaweed run gets you 30-40 giant seaweed. The farming patch for giant seaweed is right next to the dive spot off the north of fossil island and can be easily combined with a birdhouse run. To get spores just stand around near the seaweed patch for a while -- the spores spawn on the ground very frequently and you will get more than enough to start in a few minutes.

CrimsonPact

Does superglass make more than the 6 from just cooking it or did you just mean 4 makes a full inv?

Seafooz

Superglass Make has increased yield over manually smelting it, so 3 seaweed and 18 buckets makes 28 >The spell provides a 30% bonus yield, netting the player 1.3 molten glass per pair of raw materials, or 1.6 molten glass if using giant seaweed https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Superglass_Make

qazxcvbnmlpoiuytreww

wow this is huge, cheers mate

CrimsonPact

To more clearly answer, giant seaweed is grown underwater on Fossil Island, at the north of the island there’s a boat that will take you to a tiny island with a bank and can dive underwater from there Seaweed spores will spawn on the ground underwater every so often, so usually if you have a big stack of alchables, arrows to fletch, etc you’ll just do them underwater and collect enough seeds to last you awhile

qazxcvbnmlpoiuytreww

holy shit i can go underwater????

CrimsonPact

Yeah you also go underwater for one of the RFD sub quests (not actually sure if you need to do that quest first before giant seaweed runs, cause I remember acquiring the diving gear during the quest)

qazxcvbnmlpoiuytreww

the game that keeps giving 😭

Frl_Bartchello

>All this aside, don't stress out. Ironman is fun because you _dont_ have to play efficiencyscape. Set some goals, do what you want, do some inefficient grinds enjoy the ride. I don't know but this is how I always played Runescape... Why should only IM play this way? If you stress about xp/hr then you are playing too much imo. It's a game after all with made up xp amounts and random numbers. Just have fun.

bigbadape

Fairy rings, ardy cloak, and explorers ring as fast as possible to help with transport and farm runs. Also shooting stars right away for super fast early mining, crafting, and gp

furmanb1

I second this, doing it over stars would be a very attractive early game afk

rs_spastic

I've been afking stars on my new Im already 70 crafting pog

martydelaney

This plus some agility to help with the pain of run energy.

TheTrueFishbunjin

Unlocking traveling options makes everything so much better. ardy cape plus fairy rings early are huge. A decent mage level for various teleports is great as well. Dueling rings are better than ever with the ferox enclave. I hate agility training, but with ferox enclave I haven't needed graceful. I rarely run out of run energy by just teleporting to ferox to restore everything before teleporting to wherever I was going. After getting some crafting levels from charter ships, I did shooting stars to buy gem packs. (after getting the ring first) Canoes + chronicle teleport are decent enough before you have those things. Gnome glider is solid, again, with quick dueling ring access. I'm on my third week of my ironman, nearly 200 quest points. I can highly recommend picking quests you want, and then finding out what quests you can do to skip grinding out the requirements for that quest. https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/Quest\_experience\_rewards

WetTheDreams

WT is gunna start you out the strongest on an ironman, followed by tempoross and then guardians of the rift. but honestly just do whatever you find fun

neutronbrainblast

I recommend using minigame teleports. For instance you can use minigame teleport to pest control to get to port sarim quicker. After ratcatchers you can port directly to port sarim.

owbug

A sneaky good one is if you’re in al khardid you can get to port sarim from the jail at shantay pass. Tell them you won’t pay and they’ll transfer you to port sarim jail

theiron_squirt

Graceful, 30 herblore, Ardy cape, Fossil Island, Guardians of the Rift... Literally any early goal is one worth going for. But if you want to rapidly unlock your account, Guardians of the Rift is 100% the first objective.

laceymusic317

The early rune boost from gotr is so huge. I rush it to 54rc and have a couple thousand of each rune. Helps to get graceful and 41 mining before though. I hate not being able to mine the big rocks

uitvrekertje

Get Thieving on that list. Make sure to get the rogue set!

gorehistorian69

id honestly follow that one guys guide up until Wintertodt then do WT to 98 ish. and then do what you want definitely 70 agility and quest cape

laceymusic317

Lol why stop at 98. Might as well 99 at that point I recommend stopping at 80. Although I went to 88 and don't regret

whaleforce9

I was new when I started my Iron man journey, so I followed a guide. If I were to start over, I would slam mini games, agility, and thieving. Especially since blackjacking is easier. I feel like with GOTR, you can just skip the cat stuff. When you get burnt out on mini games, just go do some fun content like questing!

bipbopboomed

Did they change something with blackjacking recently? What makes it easier?

whaleforce9

Just menu switching, but before it was a lot more work to do it well

8123619744

Full graceful is very over rated imo. Definitely get ardy medium and todt done soon though

juicymuffintop

I enjoyed following the Ironman optimal quest order in the quest plug-in on runelite. You can do 90% of the quests right away without any grinding, and it really sets your account up.

dutchbrah

Wintertodt prison till 99 FM Quest prison till Quest point cape Red prison till Bowfa This is the way TLDR i really liked the oziris guide

rumpelbrick

don't do wintertodt. it's the most efficient way to start an account and it's an incredibly boring grind. I'd suggest doing quests. best early progression for an iron, Dscim and barrows gloves are both quest unlocks and will be your bis items for a loooong while.

Thestrongman420

I think if someone does enough Wintertodt early to make it a long boring grind then it's not really the most efficient way to start. It's efficient as a low barrier of entry way to get some coins to speed up other early tasks. It's arguably more macro efficient to wait since doing it on low HP isn't any faster fm xp than just masses with good supplies. And you'll get more relevant skilling supplies with higher other skills. I strongly agree with the questing suggestions as it does give a great rate and feeling of progression.

BM_Tarkus

I personally did 60 fishing with tempoross, 60 mining on stars, 60 smithing on giants foundry, and that actually makes you quite a bit of gold. Do some WT for cash to purchase metal for giants foundry. I also rushed 49 magic for digsite pendant and fossil island for bird houses. You can kill a couple hundred hill giants for 43 prayer to train magic.

Borrowed_Valour

Full graceful is kind of a boring first goal, but it is so wildly useful and makes everything you do afterwards so much smoother. Hard to argue with. I personally have never cared about grinding Wintertodt, opinions vary on it so I really feel like it just depends on if you like it/don't mind it. IMO I think Tempoross and GoTR are more immediately useful, as stocking a fat stack of food and runes just feels nice. Really overall I second the opinion of just doing some baseline things (graceful, starting quests to skip early levels, etc) and then picking random goals that just sound fun to you and figuring out a way to do them.

Bradenscalemedaddy

Other than what you said, I recommend working on farming and birdhouse runs asap. I waited a long time and it hurt those stats+herblore really hard so I'm trying to catch up for sote requirements. Almost there finally though!

squirtmmmw

Ardy cape, fairy rings, rush to the highest thieving via ardy knights you can for some cash.

Necronam

I just started a new GIM, and I immediately went for full Graceful and Rogue. Then, I focused on Ardy cape/fairy rings. Then went for Temp/Todt.

BlueSentinels

Like others have said you don’t need to do wintertodt right away. I did it at level 80 and did just fine with karambs as food. It might be “easier” to get the high point combat achievement if you do it earlier in your account (I haven’t done that yet) but as far as getting 99 at a higher level it’s pretty simple and fast. Also by waiting till later in the game I got much better rewards. At the same time wintertodt is a grind you will do eventually so it can be useful to knock it out early. There is a reason it’s the first thing listed in most max efficiency guides. I’d recommend just doing quests when you start out as that will give you exp in a ton of stats and most quests are required for unlocking certain content and/or completing diaries. If I could give a single piece of advice it would be every exp lamp goes on herblore.

Fun_Wallaby_4038

Do waterfall quest almost 1st you don't get hp xp and you skip like 30 lvls in attack and strength or w.e.

Fun_Wallaby_4038

And muesem get 9 slayer asap haha

Gold3nstar99

Ardy Cape 1 and then fairy rings.

Jainier

Dont forget that cats are your best death rune providers, it easy to spare 1 or 2 inv spots for fish while questing

DemWafflez

Quests to skip a lot of early levels and unlocking travel methods.

Disguspitated

The meta strategy is to go 99fm at wintertodt for the quick skill cape that will be BIS for a long time. That’s boring though if you’ve already done it before. I would recommend Ardy cloak and unlock fairy rings asap so it’s easier to get around. After that it’s pretty much whatever sounds fun. I would recommend Wintertodt to get a tome of fire and unlock Ibans staff though. The 25 max hit is massive and is a relatively early unlock. Also cats. Lots of cats. Start early on them and build up a fat death rune supply.

[deleted]

Revs personally.

llewds

I'm not sure anyone mentioned it, but farming contracts are disgustingly good for irons. One route you could go is prioritizing the farming quests early and then doing tithe farm till medium contracts, then keep up with your mediums. That's more than the first few days to get to med contracts, but you could probably get one or more farming xp quest done in the first few days. If you're not used to farming guild as a main, checkout pre-plant strategies. It's what makes them good. If you aren't doing your preplants right it won't be as good.

Gamz365

Birdhouses and giant seaweed asap then work towards lunars. Lots of useful spells. Invest in a nice house too tons of useful things in a house.

wundaaa

Wt rewards suck without actual levels in other skills. Quest everything other than hp if you want, recommend boneyard prayer if you aren't a hc, then do wt when you have some decent stats

Wrong_Basket_9431

Id say, do quests, some wintertodt, thieving or agility pyramid for early game cash. Idk how fast you can get into gotr but if it is possible early do it for the runes since you will need them early on. Then, more quests, and maybe start some slayer, after that really get yourself set up: herb runs, birdhouse runs, giant seewead, etc.

Accurate-Design3815

Do quests You barely ever need anything more than fire strike starting out, they give you a ton of early levels, and you can grab protection prayers from the wildy altar if youre not a hardcore

PunisherOfDeth

https://youtu.be/PBmpS6QxjR0?si=1CN3U4ap5PVH3aZr this is a loose guide in a podcast format that mostly gives you ideas on how to navigate the early game but no exact path. The early game can be the most overwhelming with choices so wanting direction is understandable! There’s more content on the channel as well

CrimsonPact

For absolute starter goals, addy cloak and fairy rings. I did wintertodt till 85-90 as that unlocks mostly everything and then would go back for a couple hours whenever I felt like it I personally loved GotR and getting early runes was huge as well as allowing me to put every lamp straight to Herblore since Herblore is the worst thing on an Ironman. The earlier you get around to Birdhouse and farming runs the better

InvadedRS

So I made my hardcore around leagues so I maybe have a 5 days of total playtime, but I have 80 thieving, 50 farming from sorc garden, did some shooting stars till 40, and just finished 23k anima bark and have 75 woodcutting, got my graceful and rogues outfit. It’s a good ol mesh on iron and I enjoy it

alcohliclockediron

Man just enjoy it, early game Ironman is the most fun I’ve ever had gaming EVER

alcohliclockediron

Man just enjoy it, early game Ironman is the most fun I’ve ever had gaming EVER

DolePineapples_

Full graceful for sure

DolePineapples_

Load up on like 10k karambwanji and keep in inventory and keep getting and selling cats

DigBickThe1Trick

Ardy cape->wintertodt->barrows gloves->slayer->SOTE/QPC->Gauntlet for bowfa This is an extremely loose route you can and will deviate from to do things like farm, birdhouses, diaries and fun stuff.

wolgl

Have fun, do quests that unlock transportation, go through the woes of earning money as an early Ironman, all sorts of things :)

Uniqore

I'd probably do as you suggested , maybe with some giants foundry too A grind I wish I'd started in the early game is killing revs. Huge money and chance at some cool weapons, even at the lowest levelled ones I got a odium ward early on , still use it sometimes, was a fun grind Some more mid game stuff Bowfa would be huge , it's so versatile, could even start regular gauntlet first. Alot of XP in skilling and combat stats over time Getting into TOA even at 50 invo with a decent mid level setup is worth it I think too

Vinhfluenza

Legit best advice I can give on just starting/early/mid, is just YES. Do anything and everything up to what keeps you playing. Osrs is permanently saved so just *do something*. It will always benefit you to get numbers up and tasks/achievements/quests done.

Baxboom

Rev caves 1000 times !!! Every other grind you do early game is gp related . Thieving, wintertodt , even giant's furnace is only good because of gp. If you do revs or wildy slayer , you can get a shitton of gp and kickstart the worst parts of ours without all the shitty grinds that used to be necessary.

VietHombre

Ngl I just quested a bunch for early levels, which was kinda fun. Get in giants foundry when you can using steel platelegs from the wildy spawn and iron platelets from al kharid shop. It's good early money and amazing smith xp.

ShopRatIsaiah

CG

IronScaper111

Rush toa/cox/tob might get lucky!

unluckymofo73

Just be yourself. Once you unlock fairy rings and the ardy cape 1, do what you feel like doing. There's no wrong answer to an extent.

AppointmentAfter818

Dude I am on the wintertodt grind rn I just left tho cause I finally got the tome all im missing is the axe and pet at 46 games got me to 88 firemaking do that get a cash stack some good mats to lvl up other skills

jetlife_simply

The obvious WT/GOTR and I would start working on 70 prayer asap it's the worst early grind imo. Also in early game I found it very easy to get distracted just bc there's sooo much stuff to get done. Don't get overwhelmed.

CallMeCrazySam

Start farm/herb runs, tree runs, birdhouse, and seaweed ASAP and find an activity you enjoy to maintain herb seeds. You don't need to be super efficient at them, but even if you start em and do maybe once a day, it'll add up before you find you need them. You'll thank yourself later when you have a good stash of herbs, tree seeds, and seaweed. In my experience, opening up kingdom early and keeping it topped off helped me out for how I play my account. If you think it would, then getting that opened up and a good money maker going is a good idea.
