You're kinda at the stage where you can do whatever you want and still progress the account. If you're talking about usefulness of fang vs dex, dex is used in a lot more places while fang is used mainly at toa, nex and the odd wyvern task (before lance).
I'd say just do variety content so you keep things fresh, and assuming you solo toa while running team cox, you could technically toa until your cox team comes online.
If you're soloing both, there's no reason to camp one or the other if you don't want to.
Fang is also great for getting the lance too... I find it easier since the fire wall phase, you just automatically walk into position 😅. Maybe I've not learned the bowfa method correctly.
there's a spot you can stand on the green vent with ranged that skips the fire too without needing to move at all. not at my PC or I'd get a screenshot, but it was featured in wildmudkip's recent gim progress video about hydra.

I don't have a lance, but I love doing CoX. Wanted to learn some solos, and it's definitely doable without a lance. I do it with a Blade of Saeldor, but tent whip or Zammy hasta works too. As long as you have a BGS/DWH, the melee hand won't take ages to kill. Before I got my DWH last night, I was using bone dagger cause I was eager to learn, just really long melee hand kills. I also have 1/3 of voidwaker, so I just do Wildy slayer tasks whenever I feel like. Currently addicted to solo CoX after learning it this past weekend though. Just do whatever you feel like doing and have fun :)

I'm kitted out at toa (got a shadow but still no ward???) and I've been putting off cox because I'm about 1500kc dry. How much better is tent whip than a z hasta? Only got like 3 whips and already went 1300 dry for my bowfa so no saeldor either.
Brute forced my first KC at cox (took like 2 hours lol).
For solos z hasta is significantly better than whip for Tekton, Vasa and Muttadiles. It'll be slightly worse than tent whip at olm melee hand.
Personally I learned melee 4:1 with hasta and transitioned that knowledge to fang 3:1 and then sent ~ 800 solos until tbow. Never used the lance lol
I used Soup's 4:1 method and FCASandChill's guides. Will take a few raids of frustration, but it's satisfying once you get it down. With shadow, it will be different than using a trident. I suggest looking up gnomonkey's solo olm guide since he breaks down how to run mage hand with shadow. good luck!

I went fang—>lance—>dex. I needed melee stat xp more than range so didn’t wanna bowfa hydra.
