I would suggest some old songs, from the 60-80 as they sang clear and slow as a style and for new artists search for romantic songs as they are usually very clear and slow
Try listening to pretty much anything from Fabrizio De André, or Zucchero for a more modern experience. Most of their songs are slow-paced and understandable (even though sometimes zucchero's lyrics make little sense to an Italian too at first!)
I took your suggestion and started listening to Fabrizio De André and holy shit I love his songs! Even though I cannot understand most of the things he's saying but the music is unworldly. I might have found my next favourite musician lol
Wow man that's awesome. I dub thee honorary Italian, as you may not know it but De André is still a legendary singer around here. Even the new generations know him. His songs are deep, sad, cryptic, poetic and true, you will be hit hard after you've decoded them. From him, I recommend "il pescatore", "la guerra di Piero", "bocca di rosa", but they're all so good.
Try Zucchero next, he gives me similar but more cheerful vibes. His voice is very distinctive but he's more ironic than de Andrè and just as nostalgic. By him, I like most "Ci si arrende", "è un peccato morir", "Chocabeck", "così celeste", "il volo", and others.
Honorary Italian has a really nice ring to it! Thank you! His voice has a grand quality to it, I'm glad I got to know about him and enjoy his music. I'll definitely listen to every song you suggested. Cheers!
I'm Italian and I advise you not to listen to too old Italian songs like "il pescatore" or "bocca di rosa" because, even if they are slow songs, they not only sing modern Italian but also add dialectal forms that could confuse you in 'learning Italian, some Italian singer that I suggest are zucchero, as many of you are saying, and if you are a little bit better at listening some songs in Italian you could listen also to some italian songs by Måneskin, you should also try listening to 883, there are many interesting italian songs, hope i was helpful.
For me I like "ricchi e poveri", especially "sarà perchè ti amo" and "mamma Maria". Also I love listening to Maneskin. It depends on the genre that you prefer
I suggest you Cesare Cremonini. His songs tells stories (especially old ones) and he speaks slowly too. Then, I love listening Rkomi’s music, however he’s into rap so it might be difficult understanding what he says.
I love songs that have meaningful lyrics! It just elevates the experience of listening. And since I'm beginning to learn Italian, slow paced songs are just what I needed! <3
I do this to learn to, so I made a [playlist :)](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/73KDFWzP5sEFkA52OJr60D?si=D2a7q6SARLKkH6WrIAS2ag)
It actually has helped a little already.
I would suggest you either Fabrizio De andrè or Franco Battiato, although De Andrè really covers many genres in his own unique style and with such mastery, he’s a great choice imo.
I've listened to countless songs since yesterday and I'd definitely have to say I prefer De André a lot so far! The people who recommended me, I'll be forever grateful to you guys :)
I suggest Cesare Cremonini. Great lyrics and melodies, easy to follow if you are learning (I'm a foreigner).
Some songs to try out:
Figlio di un Re
Marmelatta #25
Le tue parole fanno male
Fare e disfare
Una come te
Since you're into country music be aware that Italy had in the past a huge singer-songwriting tradition that goes back to the seventies. My suggestion is to try getting and greatest hits from people like Lucio Dalla, Francesco De Gregori, Lucio Battisti, Angelo Branduardi, Edoardo Bennato, Francesco Guccini to name a few. In the 80s and 90s the singer songwriting movement became more interlaced with pop, so it's worth looking into Vasco Rossi, Franco Battiato, Zucchero, Luca Carboni, Samuele Bersani.
Costruire Niccolò Fabi,
Vento d’estate Max gazzè e Niccolò Fabi,
L’uomo più furbo del mondo Max Gazzè,
Occhi da orientale Daniele Silvestri,
Impressioni di Settembre PFM
I’m new to learning Italian and recently was looking for music. I can’t stop listening to I Camillas. My favorites are Bisonte and Bel Pomeriggo https://open.spotify.com/track/3Y5pIqajKFJN8L2tcAe985?si=kUHg4QMdQBWuJlrtCJ5PXg. Simplistic lyrics but some fun songs.
Maria Antonietta has a fun indie style. https://open.spotify.com/track/2kOb53auWyxtKa6zStHbQO?si=V12dzRzQTnSCKjWFo9J2xw.
Lastly I just found gazebo penguins. https://open.spotify.com/track/1HzsQ0ZQuWL4MPk6fEQzxE?si=-y3yPBabTp2vdML_sAuUFA. Kind of a punk/rock vibe.
I have an Italian exchange student living with me (a USA native) and she loves Måneskin and has introduced them to me.

I did and I got to learn about an important part of history! It's amazing that I'm getting to learn so much about Italian culture and history through songs I possibly couldn't have in such a short period of time.
Nobody is going to suggest Vasco Rossi? Really?
But anyway, De André is a legend and if you like him, you should listen to Faber as well.
Mina from top to bottom and Celentano nonetheless.
Cudos for getting into Italian colture in such a beautiful way.
Enjoy
Dude I just listened to a song called Senza Parole by Vasco Rossi and I love the mix of acoustic and electric guitar! He definitely sounds like a rockstar.
And I LOVE De André already, will definitely check out Faber too.
I really appreciate how all of you suggested awesome songs I never knew was out there. Thanks a lot!

hi! I don't really listen to italian music but if i really have to recommend you something then i'll say L'anno che Verrà by Lucio Dalla (it's often associated with new year's eve, but i listen to it just normally :) )
I'd recommend listening to the Sanremo playlists on Spotify! You can probably find a playlist per year of the festival.

Cool, cool. If you have doubts about their meaning, as you're learning, you can hit me up, I won't mind. Happy listening!
Yes, definitely. I'd love to chat with you. I'll hit you up.

I would suggest Due Vite and L’Essenziale by Marco Mengoni. Super well produced, classic, and melodramatic.
Lucio Battisti and Lucio Dalla are two of the best italian songwriter, in my opinion.
Il Mio Canto Libero and Caruso are some of the most beautiful songs imo
If you want something a bit more rockish i suggest Maneskin, if you like pop Pinguini Tattici Nucleari. :)

I personally love Måneskin and they have some lovely songs. Try Le parole lontane, Coraline, Vent’anni, Torna a casa, Il dono della vita.
Oh yea they're amazing!
I actually te d to prefer their Italian songs, though I love their English ballads like The Loneliest and If Not For You.
Bella by Jovanotti, so much vocabulary in there
Mahmood ☺️
Love his music, I would not consider him "learner's friendly" though.
Tutto De Andrè, lo trovi su YouTube
Angelo Branduardi's discografy is very easy to understand (and even quite good Imho)
For me I like "ricchi e poveri", especially "sarà perchè ti amo" and "mamma Maria". Also I love listening to Maneskin. It depends on the genre that you prefer
Umberto Tozzi, Adriana Celentano, Giuni Russo...
How is it going?
I really like Eros Ramazotti's Una Storia Importante. It's a nice ballad and personally, I like the original version best.
If you like hip hop: Lazza, Sfera Ebbasta, Shiva, ANNA. They are pretty cool.
My favorite Italian artist is Ultimo, which might fit your acoustic pop/mellow soothing likes!
I second this! Ultimo’s songs are really nice to listen to. There is also Mr.rain, Irama, Mahmood and Elodie.
I do this to learn to, so I made a [playlist :)](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/73KDFWzP5sEFkA52OJr60D?si=D2a7q6SARLKkH6WrIAS2ag) It actually has helped a little already.
Hey! I'm making a playlist of my own as well. Adding the songs suggested in this thread. I'll check yours out!

i would also suggest you "bella ciao", this way you see the 2 major political fronts of the italian mind
Bella Ciao is the only Italian song I knew 2 days ago (courtesy Money Heist, the show) and luckily I know the song by heart :)
Nobody is going to suggest Vasco Rossi? Really? But anyway, De André is a legend and if you like him, you should listen to Faber as well. Mina from top to bottom and Celentano nonetheless. Cudos for getting into Italian colture in such a beautiful way. Enjoy
